My only annoyance is being dismissive of cherub and PSY as being "psychedelic" as if their whole vibe wasnt dark psychedelia meant for trippers. No mention of the live shows' surgery videos, shit on fire, shooting guns etc.

Dax is right up there with Mike Patton for my favourite singer. His solo stuff is great too, very different from Acid Bath though

The story I've always heard is that the band broke up after the bassist (and his parents) were killed by a drunk driver. I always liked the sung vocals. The vocals added variety to their sound, gave the music more of a southern feel, and made them stand out from other sludge metal bands. Fun fact: The CW show iZombie used one of Dax Riggs' songs for their intro. I only bring it up because the idea of the Acid Bath vocalist having a song featured on The CW just feels so bizarre to me.
