I put Grotus in the same category as Cop Shoot Cop under "90's industrial-noise rock I only discovered because a more famous musician gave them a shout-out" (Patton with Grotus, Strapping Young Lad with Cop Shoot Cop.) The first two albums are severely underrated and I'm glad you guys are able to give them some exposure.

Devin Townsend from Strapping Young Lad also loved this band (and fear factory). It shows.

7:17 I’ve only heard the second album & I wouldn’t necessarily describe them as “industrial groove metal” although that’s probably due to Fear Factory or Nailbomb fitting that description better. Honestly Grotus defies categorisation.

Great episode! Easily my favorite this year so far! I’ve always known of Grotus for sometime. Either from this podcast mentioning them a few times or Mike Patton mentioning them or probably seeing their name in passing. Either way this band was A instant love for me!

Awesome! I got Slow Motion Apocalypse in 93 and it is still one of my favorite albums from that time. Saw them once in San Francisco, great show. Still have all their cds except Mass which I didn’t care for as much besides Hand to Mouth which I have a single of. Love the Luddite ep and Brown is pretty good.

Wasn't expecting a Grotus deep dive. I got on board around the time the Luddite EP came out. Super interesting band. Although Slow Motion is objectively their best album, it's an unpopular opinion but Mass is actually my favourite even though I accept it has issues. It's an odd record that feels less like a conventional album and more like a compilation of B Sides and one off tracks. I dig its more blues industrial vibe.

Grotus themselves label the sound as "Organic Industrial"
