what happened to tinkerbell and the ring of belief?
Переглядів 386 тис.11 місяців тому
After the success of the Disney Princess brand, Disney created a Disney Fairies brand based off the character Tinkerbell. This included books, dolls, and an animated movie series. However, the development of the first Tinkerbell movie was a disaster behind the scenes, leading to a version of the movie getting scrapped late into its development. In this video, I tried to trace the timeline of th...

recapping disney's weird descendants movies

I became fascinated with Disney’s Descendants franchise somehow? And I thought talking about it would get it out of my system (it didn’t). So I guess this is a very long commentary video about the series. Thank you so much for watching, and feel free to leave a comment, I love validation! 38:36 we have a descendants ver of Merlin, so you could;be used that image instead :)
38:36 Merlin’s is in the new descendants movie you could;be used that image :)
I sae this and went "The what what what??"
I can't wait for your recap of the Descendants 4 book and the movie
For my Descendants rewrite Mal and Evie date each other instead cause Dove Cameron said so herself
ABC did the same sort of brainwashing too, with the series Once Upon A Time. They were based upon traditional Disney characters, but with some traditional villains as heroes (Captain Hook, for example), and some heroes as villains (Peter Pan, King Arthur, Merlin...). There were some villains, who, over the course of the series, became heroes, such as the Wicked Queen from Snow White and the Wicked Witch from Wizard of Oz. So yes, I think that across media, there is a broad brainwashing experiment going on, making good seem evil, and visa versa.
41:53 Harry was my gay awakening, although by the time I started feeling like that I had already seen the movie countless times
Funny thing, MY Mom bought me one american girls doll (Molly) and went AFTER the books since I HATED reading (dyslexic meets autism) so when I got into the books she went harder and she burned me out on those books! Lmao
Bit surprised you didn't mention that Tink North of Neverland heavily inspired the second Tinker Bell movie, Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure!
Omg I remember as a kid wondering who that girl was in the previews (Victoria the orphan)
so glad im not the only adult that grew up and was like "wait there were new books released after i stopped reading them?" and retrieved them to read
Disney should an Avengers with all the Princesses, with a misterious villain trying to destroy fairy tales.
we’re gonna need a part 2 about the 4th movie immediately
brittany murphy as tinkerbell. wow. that actually fits so well.
As far as I know in ship names the person whose name starts first is the top. Therefore ‘Jarlos’ indicates that Jane is a top. In this essay I will-
I agree on your point about Mal using magic to spell Ben in the second movie and that being bad but I actually think in the first movie it makes a lot of sense for her character to put a love spell on Ben. She grew up in the isle and was raised by Malificent, it makes a lot of sense for her to lack those morals of manipulation and mind control. And the ending with her wanting to give Ben a reversal spell cookie shows her character growth and her morals becoming better. If she never spelled him in the first place it wouldn’t feel very realistic as someone named the worst villain kid on the isle. She should be nasty and manipulative and depend on magic because that’s all she knows from her mom. It’s only after she gets a lot of exposure from Auradon that she should grow out of that and have those morals.
The idea that Tink and Silvermist were best friends in the version of the tinkerbell movie is so fascinating to me. I've always wanted to see more of Tink's friends because I like her friends more than Tinker Bell herself. My favorite Tinker Bell movie is the Legend of the never beast because it's all about Fawn! Fawn is a way better character than Tink in my opinion. Silvermist is another character that I love but the movie you really get to see her shine is Pirate Fairys and that one seen in the treasure hunt one. If Tinker Bell movie were still being made, I would love to see a movie about each of Tinks friends. I think people would love that. That's if they're as good if not better that Fawn's movie
Idk I like the love potion plot I just think she should have a had more ramifications. I think the plot touches on a really interesting concept and it shows that these kids were raised by evil parents and they need to learn to be good.
Alice's Present brings back the most memories for me. I played it on loop sooo many times growing up. I had a HiT entertainment VHS tape with only 4 episodes on it so that was quite easy to do with an episode from Kipper, Rubbadubbers, and another dog like show who's I think a detective?
"Did I say 'no purple dragons'?! DID I?!" Apparently, Arabella is not Ariel's daughter, she is the daughter of one of Ariel's sisters.
I like the 'some people can do math, but anyone can use a calculator' metaphor. It implies magic is a skill that can be honed, and some people can control it easier than others. Nicely done :D
I think it wouldve been neat in the second movie if instead of running away back to the isle Mal felt drawn to like an old decrepit abandoned castle on a mountain. Like and it’s revealed it’s her mom’s old place from before the isle. Maybe in the basement there a gateway thing to allude to hades. Like surely they havent bothered to touch these villain homes due to superstition. Maybe mal uses her good magic to unstone diablo the crow.
Cruella De Vil being marketed as one of the "big bads" of the isle never made sense to me, as her crimes and she herself weren't even on par with villains like Maleficant and Jafar who were near god-like, and literal threast to humanity. I remember her as just a vain, cruel, narcissist. A threat to animals, yes, but she isn't capable of being treated as a threat to society or anything, just throw her back in jail.
my question is how did ben know he was under a love potion like how did he automatically assume that?
I love you rewrite of the stories! you fixed everything that bagged me to be honst now I just want you to do the same thing with the rise of red movie, but maybe wait for the second movie for this since it's a two parter
I remember reading the books when they first came out and being SO EXCITED (I was the target audience in every way shape and form). But now? no memory of plot, I remember getting really bored in the second book.
(idk if im going to look stupid for saying this cuz I'm on half of the video) It seems like the conflict points in your version are almost completely about magic, which would be fine if the hero's kids would be nice and the only problem would be that magic was forbidden. Because Audrey and chad etc. they discriminate against the VK's who can't use magic too, not just Mal. So the arguments about 'fitting in' kinda made a lot of sense in the of movies, because auradon was so different from the Isle, and was putting a lot of pressure to be perfect on Mal. If the 'hero' kids in your version would be nice/encouraging her to be nice not for the sake of 'fitting in' but genuinely wanting her to grow and change, the whole 'magic is forbidden and Mal struggles with that' would work as a main focus point for Ben/Mal arguments, but now it just feels like the arguments focus on the wrong thing. (this is my opinion and i am in no way a storywriter so take this comment with a grain of salt)
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SAYING THAT YOU DON’T IMAGINE THINGS FROM BOOKS! I ALWAYS FEEL SO ALONW BECAUSE ME ALWAYS READ WORDS SEE NO PICTURE FEEL SAD FACE 😢
I've always been curious about the book adoptions of The Descendants
so i just looked up the lineup of the dinsey princesses and apparently elsa and anna arent part of the brand? that seems weird
Just thought you may like to know. I can’t see images in my head either- it’s a condition called Aphantasia and it’s suspected it happens when babies have a seizure in the womb (??)
Read all these books in 2020 and loved them all! The new movie and especially once I heard that Beyond the Isle of the Lost was coming out I got that right away and I loved that book too. It seems Melissa either didn’t have or at least held back on her exploration of lore just in case the most likely scenario of the movie(s) not using any lore specifically in the novel like what ended up happening later in the original run of book. But ‘Beyond’ gave such great context to D4s main character Red and also fleshed out how evil Queen of Hearts is which also adds layers of intrigue to how she became evil after seeing her younger self as Bridget.i hope Melissa gets to do even more books!
It's so nice that you talk about your aphantasia! So many people have no idea it exists, thanks for raising awareness As a fellow person with aphantasia this means a lot! ❤❤❤
Wow, I’m realizing just how many books I read as a kid that were actually just ads or tie-ins for movies. Also I have aphantasia, too! Ruined reading for me when I learned about it 😅 thanks for sharing! 🤍
i find the descendants movies/franchise to be kind of whatever but i honestly live for the content you make about it
18:22: They could have brougjt the sidekick plotline back for the third movie.
13:51-13:52: So The Beast learned absolutely NOTHING from his experience with Belle?
I love the idea of Iridessa disliking Tink in the beginning of the movie but then she learns to love her on the adventure. Iridessa was the first person to offer her pixie dust at the end so I bet the idea was to have their friendship grow and reach that climax
So I'm majoring in Costume Design and Stage Management for theatre and one of my friends did a production of Descendants right before starting college and I am SO interested in how that went now. And no yeah, the admin side of theatre is crazy, there's a good reason that professional productions have so many different manager positions lmao
im so glad to have found someone else who can’t visualize things when reading! i’ve always felt like i was crazy when ppl would ask me things like “how did u imagine this character?” and i just had to be like…”i didnt”😂😂
You do realize one of Mel's emotional conflicts in the first movie is the fact that she loved Potioned Ben.
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who vividly remembers these shows from their childhood. Such a good video too🩷
i grew up on the gci angelina ballerina, i still secretly love it
if my friends weren’t annoyed with my american girl knowledge before…. they are going to HATE ME now
Meat outfit.... Meat accessories
Evil magic is prevented, not just magic period If the magic is not used for evil purposes, it’s allowed to be used in the aisle of the lost.
8:07 Yeah, the same applies to me. Nothing is visualized, so I just stare at the explanations and are like: 👌 and then move on to the fun dialog and stuff
Turney is an old sport honestly, I thought it was made up until I googled it
This is great to watch while feeling sick and in pain. Makes me less miserable.
literally lol me too
A Descendants fan and a Disney books fan here, I was considering getting the books as you posted this video.
