Ill be picking up a 1994 6.5 next weekend already wanna twin turbo it 😂
Not impressed.
@@moondogdieselworks3883 better than your 6.5
@@dieselnation555 mine is a boat anchor. Cummins, less work WAY more power. Sorry buddy
@moondogdieselworks3883 can't compare a 6.5 to any decently modded cummins sorry not sorry

Larger injectors
Pretty much no such thing for 6.5s only different nozzle pressure
I just got my cross over pipe fixed! New Mechanic told me he did a 6.5 a few years back and the client also has a 6.6 duramax and after he installed the aftermarket oversized injectors the farmer told him the 6.5 was out pulling the 6.6 he has so I told him to find them for me, and he said they were around 160.00 a piece, cheap
@jeffdelorey1981 "over sized" injectors don't exist. It's basically just different pop pressure these diesels aren't like the cummins powerstroke or duramax
I watched guys mechanics that it you use marine injectors it'll create 25 extra horses not alot but better for sure!!
Beautiful

Upchurch!
You think i could try and fabricate a compoud turbo setup would that be more efficient to spool at low rpms and towing and such
Yes it wouldn't be hard at all and it would be way more responsive than the twins I got depending on your turbo set up atleast and the only down side is shell eat the boost then the rods I figure lol
What turbos would i use for that possible compound setup
Whats your opinion on building a 300 hp 6.2 also love the lope howd you do it
I highly recommend it lol and I got my db2 pump turned up and timed to its max plus In this video she had 2 blown head gaskets lol
nice
im curious about what you have done to motor to be able to accommodate the twin turbos and what size turbos?
Hx35 so 52mm compressor wheels and 9cm exhaust housings
There's also a video with the full build list
@@dieselnation555 Cool man will have to watch that
That's a good list of upgrades there I think! What about injector pre-cups though? May not be critical, but if you're taking off the heads anyway, might as well change them out to something that plays nicer with the turbos and injectors. Nice to see a twin turbo config too! I'm definitely interested in doing something like that. Even cooler would be to get rid of the crossover pipe and go full dual exhaust! Don't forget the harmonic balancer upgrade so you don't eventually break your stock *cast* crankshaft (instead of forged like Detroit specified). And take a look at upgrading the oil hosing and water pump and the radiator & fan. You need that reliability before you can safely do power upgrades without something failing catastrophically down the line. Also an upgraded main belt pulley may do a lot of good so the belt (which runs some critical components) runs smoother and doesn't wear out as quick. Maybe consider timing gears instead of chain, for precision and longevity.
Can't put everything in one video gotta save some for a part 2 list lol but yes precups are a Performance upgrade. I do have the cross over deleted and my truck is a true dual configuration for the exhaust it's much handier than single pipe because you can find out engine malfunctions super fast. As for the harmonic balancer and crank shaft that's a bullet proofing upgrade it won't get you more horsepower but it'll let you make more power reliably. Stock water pump are fine and fan and radiator upgrade are a waste of money I've tried everything except the radiator and none of it works there's 2 simple cooling upgrades that cost approximately 100 bucks combined and it works worlds better than anything quadstar or any other site sells. Other wise the timing gears isn't worth the money for its extra "reliability" if it didn't cost a arm and a leg I'd include it in the lists to come but honestly it's far to expensive for the reliability you gain
@@dieselnation555Oh, so you do run dual exhaust. Sweet! So you're basically saying that installing an intercooler is the best thing you can do for better thermals? But is that the only things that makes a difference? I just find it hard to believe that an engine that is prone to overheating from factory only benefits from adding an intercooler and nothing else needs improvement. At least others on YT have reported improvements with upgrading radiator and water pump. Maybe the pump only makes sense if you also upgrade the radiator. Or maybe their stock pump was just going bad. I'm curious, how does running a twin turbo/exhaust setup affect thermals for you? Is there any difference?
@Arexodius yessir and intercooler is pretty good but combine it with methanol injection and you get power and even lower iat and egt's. But no you can't buy a intercooler set up for less than 100 bucks lol I'm talking about the reducer fitting for the water pump from the coolant crossover pipe and making a rear coolant cross over pipe those 2 upgrades alone will keep your 6.5 cooler than it actually needs to be 100% and combined those 2 upgrades are less than 100 bucks. I've used the water pump and fan and clutch upgrade the truck couldn't haul itself up hill without over heating lol I never tried the radiator but I know people from the Facebook groups who've done all the quadstar upgrades and still have over heating issues so they spent over 1000 bucks for basically no good reason. And I've ran single turbo trucks with stock turbos and after marker turbos both of those trucks would get up to 1200°c super fast the twin turbo set up has only seen 750°c at wide open throttle going 190kmh giving her all she had to offer. Performance wise twin turbos are the best set up you can currently make yourself. Also the turbos only do half the work for the same amount of performance only thing is with mine having large turbos it suffers on the lower end power until it builds boost that is lol
@@dieselnation555Thanks for the advice! I'll have to look into that. I saw a video with www.youtube.com/@shawnsgarage where he explains how he routed cooling lines to the back of the engine. Seemed like a neat setup. Cortland from GSC also suggested doing that. When it comes to water meth I'm a bit apprehensive. I get how it helps a lot on several fronts, but I'm also hearing about increased risk of corrosion on the inside of the engine, the last place you want corrosion. If there is any truth to that whatsoever, I'm not sure it's something I'd wanna invest in despite the advantages. Unless these kits allow you to postpone any injection until everything is a bit warmer and then shut off the injection at least a couple of seconds before engine shut down to keep any residual moisture out of the internals, since steel and moisture in normal outside temps is a perfect recipe for corrosion. IDK. Someone said the nozzle placement played a role in how much corrosion you may or may not see. Seems like a great idea if it weren't for that whole deal. No engine lasts forever, but I'd sure like to come as close as possible.
Low Graphics
Did you change your video quality lol
I know what epic quality looks like because i've played this game @@dieselnation555
I thought that was a db2 pump? or did you change it to a ds4?
It is a db2 lol fuel screw is turned up and pump is timed so technically a "tune" 🤣
@@dieselnation555 yeah I was kinda thinking it was timed up I just didn’t know they could lope like that
@Derek-C she actually gets worse/better than that depending on how cold it is lol next injection pump should be even better yet
@@dieselnation555 you getting that big 220 cc or whatever it is rated for 700 horse?
@Derek-C sadly no I gotta settle for a 140 for now lmao but with Rev limiter set to 5k rpms peak output with methanol should be around 500 horses so it'll do for now and I'm aiming for a transmission upgrade over the big bore pump it'll help with turbo lag big time
Loving my 6.5 so far. Currently hooking up my Carter fuel pump (Leroy relay harness) and CAT filter, installed glow shift gauges so I can monitor my boost/fuel/egt’s, next mod is my HX35 intercooled swap set to 14lbs, then an quadstar chip. The 4” straight pipe was a huge improvement over stock and reasoning for the hx35 swap is to reduce back pressure and run 1:1 or less at 14-15lbs.
That's the exact pump I'm using and relay harness as well but I got the quadstar filter relocation kit running whatever filter they send with it lol and I finally got a set of glow shift gauges I'm much happier with them lol and 14psi with a hx35 is perfect and intercooling it is a great idea big time. Tuning wise quadstar is the only way to go and yessir my original exhaust set up was a custom 4"down pipe and 4" straight pipe it sounded better than a super60 and much cheaper lol
Where did you get the mirrors?
Came on the truck but you can buy them on Canadian tire
@@dieselnation555 I can't find em on the Canadian tire website, could you send me the link?
You really seem to know your shit! I've got a '99 Sierra K3500 with a 6.5. The engine always wanted to surge when at a stop light. Pulled a code for Wastegate sensor. Changed it out but the truck still surges from a stop and check engine light still stays on most of the time. Any suggestions?
Have you checked fuel pressure?
No, could that be an issue? What do I need to check that>@@dieselnation555
Unfortunately surging on a 6.5L can be caused by a multitude of issues. I would first recommend installing some fuel rated clear/see through tubing, on the fuel return line coming off the Injector pump! A steady stream of bubbles or foam will indicate a leak in your fuel system. Or unfortunately worse, a worn out injector pump! Then I'd verify all the ground points are clean and secure. Then I would try a replacement PMD (pump mounted driver), and/or harness. The coolant temp Sensor can fail causing weird behavior. The advance stepper motor on the injection pump can get stuck, causing issues (it's external). After that, diagnostics get more intense.

Man I miss the wonderful clattering of a 6.5
Should hear her at 4000rpms lol
Man, you got killer eyebrows.
I'll take that as a compliment lolol
They must have gotten a short block of the heads are cracked cause Im pretty sure Navistar changed some shit in the casting recipe to make them a hell of a lot stronger material than factory Detroit
The previous owner wasn't all there the truck had a performance tune and stock turbo welded wastegate shut and he just abused it everyday
@@dieselnation555 right surprised the head gasket wasn't blown for it having the waste gate welded shut on stock turbo
@@noaha2430 yessir big time lmao
Can i remove the MAF sensor on a 6.5? My friend have removed his without any codes. It just soots little more. What do you think?
What year is your truck and what year is his? I've never took my off when running a ds4 but if his has lasted some time since he's taken it off I can't see much harm in it lol
@@dieselnation555 What can go wrong when dont have it. Truck runs fine without? Its all ds4 pumps.
@arne524 It might cut fueling not knowing what kinda air flow is going in the motor considering its already throwing black smoke I know with my db2 it disregards all sensors but that's a totally different pump so I guess if you wanna just unplug it and run it lol
@@dieselnation555 I tought it was some kinde of a o2 sensor. That it will register the airflow then trim down the fuel so its just enough. Maby i was wrong... Do you have any idea how i can get a 6.5td with ds4 to throw some black smoke? My tahoe does 98, My silverado dont. And i want to because i have some awsome stacks.
@arne524 so maf stands for mass air flow. Far as I know it does read the airflow to control fueling. If your 6.5 is stock and throwing decent black smoke it's because something is broken or about to be lol best way to do the trick is get the truck tuned or swap a mechanical pump in otherwise modifying the wastegate to lower boost would get you black smoke but also less power
Whats wrong with your tranny.?? I have a silverado that is quite slow when i put it in drive and the reverse. I hope i can patch it up with new filter and transmission selonoids. 4l80e
Turns out the issue was because its a automatic transmission lolol yeah i think solenoids was the problem thi
Must be from Canada. Likss saying ooot not out
Bahahahaha yeah i also say ouse instead of house an orse for horse lmfao
