    This sounds good. I wouldn't want to go quite this far with low magic but would like to see sort of the opposite of what DnD eventually went with. In other words instead of making everyone else a partial magic user, have a system where a warror, rouge or whatever can develop on their own terms. Not everyone would NEED magic (except maybe the occasional magic item would be very nice).

    This process works well. I followed it a day prior to a session I ran yesterday. The session went for about 10 hours (although we went off topic quite a bit), I still feel like I over prepared content which can be used in future sessions. The only thing I would add to this would be to consider or list some NPCs/Monsters the party is likely to encounter at each site or in between, kind of like a light random encounter table. I listed the name, HD, and page for the monster and that was enough to quickly get into combat should the event arise. Good video. Keep it up.

      @macoppy6571 Thanks. I get a TON of grief in various forums and groups when I tell folks I only allow certain races for PCs in my game. @@heroeshomebrew you mentioned that there is no "return to base" at the end of the night, like in West Marches? So doesn't that mess with story arcs and continuity? Or do you "correct for that" by having each session end at a logical point where characters can be swapped in / out for next session?

    • @heroeshomebrew
      @heroeshomebrew 4 місяці тому

      @@mikeb.1705 I may have misspoke. We do return to the home base/town at the end of every session. Though it is possible to track the location of characters if they explore and find another town to stop in. In my game right now they always return back to the town at the end of the session, but they haven’t ventured too far away as yet. If characters end a session in another town then those characters will only be able to adventure with others that are in that town.

    Did the actual play never happen, or does my search skill suck? One thing I love about the 2d6 mechanic is the GM can rule that for some tasks, the GM rolls one die and the player rolls one die. This makes the result of the roll more uncertain for the player but not completely unknown.
