Never again for me! Just traded my 2024 2.7L for a 2024 5.3L. Only put 6000 miles on the 2.7L! Rattling noises started at 1500 miles - getting louder and louder. Finally took it in for the first service at 6000 miles and the dealer ended up replacing the turbo. Definitely better, but didn’t completely eliminate the noise. The dealer was at a complete loss on how to proceed, so after 2 weeks in the shop I traded it for a brand new 2024 5.3L. Night and day better. Way more responsive and that proper V8 growl. I didn’t realize how bad the turbo lag was on the 2.7L, until I took the 5.3L for a test drive. Needless to say, that 2.7L was promptly traded the same day. Not sure if they ever figured out the issue with that 2.7L.

The video was good, but I wish it had covered how to put everything back together. I am having trouble getting the column aligned with the bracket in order to insert the main bolt, and I expect the bracket assembly for the height adjustment will be similarly challenging. This is certainly the most difficult repair I have ever done. I hope I can get it done.

Heres the main key issue. Sure, it has more power and efficiency and capability than the v8. However, is it more reliable overall? And on top of that this is an engine that realistically when it gets around 100k or so its going to need alot of repairs and or maintenance that probably can be done by a backyard mechanic but will be no easy and or cheap task. Most people will probably trade a vehicle like this in before the warranty runs out for another one. Im sorry but i just dont see this engine lasting around 200k with basic maintenance like its v8 counter part.

Sub'd to your channel and love your vids... I have an interesting situation here and this may help others too. Sometimes there is pure gold in the comments.. my 2015.5 silverado dually has a 7-9 inch cognito lift. Adjustable by tightening the torsion bar key preload bolt. Mine is set pretty high....ok now is where i think this gets interesting. If you lift the front of your truck 9 inches and the back only 4(with blocks in back), then you have changed the degree of angle at the front of the driveshaft where it meets the output shaft to be a lesser angle than it was stock or barely at all.(I think) Therfore need to put the small end of the tapered block in the front, wich points the pinion more at the transmission.... in your vid if you were to take the little transmission drawing and "tilt" the front up and the back down a touch that's what lifting only the front of a truck does. Or not lifting the back the same amount as the front. So if you tilt the pinion up meaning thin end of lift block forward then that is the correct installation of the tapered block that comes with the kit. It is in the directions to be installed this way and i have verified this with cognito... now, when i watch your vid i could not for the life of me figure out my situation and how it does NOT seem to jive with your drawings (wich i love because it's visually easier to understand).....i lifted my truck and the driveshaft angle did not seem to droop like you showed . So the rear pinion angle pointed up more was the needed remedy!!? Chime in on this bro, you know your stuff. This kicked my a$$ for days. .. thoughts?

are your brake lines rubbing on your tire? just wondering. i took my truck to Truck Toys to lift the front they just put pieces of spring (4) for the 2" i wanted under the stock spring pack like you said. I already bought stock 2 leaf packs to replace my 3 because the way they were assembled didn't look like i could remove one, so couldnt cut it either. I'm going to have them put them in for me and maybe take out one of the leaf pieces. But in the back I have this same 8 spring set up and instead of buying a new leaf pack i will do what you did. I will try to put something in btwn the springs when i cut tho so i dont' knick the top ones. i think this is a great idea. I don't give a crap if i cant laod my truck with railraod ties anymore or fill it with firewood. I can't lift a tie anymore and I'm done with firewood. Plus i've got this stupid cap I have nowhere else to put that prevents me from putting gravel or much of anything else in there. and, as i stated below in comments, i can always bag it or if i want a smoother ride maybe some Sumoshocks. And if i need more capacity in the future thare are always add-a-leafs. I have been driving this truck for 24 years and i'm tired of it riding like a buckboard. Changing the shocks did absolutely NOTHING. It only weighs 5500lbs with me in it and the back spring pack is rated at 3300 lbs. (thats each, isn't it? but i bottomed them out with the railroad ties).
