Hi my name is Wally ,
I'm from Melbourne, Australia & welcome to my woodworking channel .
I have a full time job in manufacturing & in my spare time I enjoy making projects; some small, some big.
Although my channel is mostly about woodworking , I also have a passion for landscape gardening , occasionally I may do a review/unboxing of related equipment ie... (woodworking tools)...( landscape/ gardening tools / sheds ...etc ).
I've been using both hand/power tools for over 35 years , I'm not a professional woodworker , but rather an enthusiast , with a real passion to learn/share my ideas & inspire others.
Thanks for watching my videos & subscribing .
Have a great day !

Step stool project
As my old step stool , lay gathering dust in the corner of the shed.... it was a constant reminder '' reminiscing'' about my teenage years ( woodwork class ) .....( circa 1981)...
As mentioned in the opening video credits , I made my step stool ( replica version ) using both hand and power tools .
Although a small project , yet one of my most satisfying .

In this video I'll show you how to build a Folding Step Stool that is multifunctional , easy to store . When unfurled it can be used as a three -tier ladder , great for those hard to reach places in the kitchen . The core of the frame is held together using Mortise & Tenon joints , which were predominately cut by hand '' Japanese'' saw . This project has given me a lot of pride & satisfaction t...
DIY Whiskey Gift Box.

In this project I challenged myself to create something out of the ordinary... ''a gift box'' (Whiskey/Wine)...not just any gift box , but one with flair , & pleasing to the eye. The end result were a combination of light & dark coloured timbers (offcuts) laminated together to create a chess board/checkers theme. I must confess I used a lot of glue in the laminating process , but the end result...

Using Hardwood off cuts , I thought they would be an excellent choice to make a breadbox,,, not just any breadbox , but one with a tambour roll top lid & drawer on top. After sketching several designs with various measurements I finally came up with one I liked. The Core of the build was Mortise & Tenon joints. The most critical component was the inside (2) side panels where the runner tracks f...

Is this your own design?
The box is a common build utilising various scrap woods , I finished of with a dark wood "Belt " design.... which I saw at a local cardboard arts/crafts sale....thanks again for watching Mrs Sparrow !
That’s a pretty little box, Wally.
Thanks Mrs Sparrow !
I loved your design and the process of assembly. The drawer method is something I haven't seen before. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much Tom , yes there are various designs (fliptopCart) on UA-cam , I simply added a different touch (drawer)...glad you like it mate .

It’s amazing there’s not one good how to video on the internet to build a ladder chair. It’s either no sound, no talking or explanation, or in cm, or metric.
My friend in 2024 with all the modern advancement within tools and technology why are you being deprived of jigsaw and circular saws that are either a cord or possibly even battery operated!😮
Best dog house and easy to build
Jeez those aussie mozzies are some determined little blighters, the way they tore up the original screen was impressive.
Very Nice job 😮
Wally, it turned out beautiful! Those drawers and their compartments are so nice.
Thanks again Mrs Sparrow, I must confess though , my chess game is very poor ! hehehe
@ I don’t even know HOW to play!
Great job! Can i please have the dimensions in American inches? Also how far down from the top on the bottle neck hole? Thanks.
Great , The material thickness all round`~ 0.59 inches . the top lid is 15.07 inch length X 5.62inch width. the (2) long sides 15.07 inch X 3.26 inch . (2) short sides 5.62 inch X 3.26 inch. the distance for the bottle neck (long point to long point = 4.64 inch from the top~ my understand of your question,,,,, the round hole ~ 1.37 inch .
@@wallytrinc9885 Thank you very much. I started making one myself.
સરસ આભાર ❤
મારો વિડિયો જોવા બદલ આભાર
Finally someone made something awesome on youtube with out 200k worth of tools and regular old wood!!
Thanks Sooo Much ! the Best compliment I've received on UA-cam format !
One suggestion. Use UHMW plastic for the runners instead of wood. Plastic unlike wood will not expand and contract due to humidity changes. 3/4 Baltic birch works great for the base too.
Great suggestion ! I took all of that (expansion of runners) into consideration , hence I chose a merbau species , it's natural oils & high density acts as barrier , with a very low/nil expansion/shrinkage rate . It is the go to choice for outdoor flooring/decking here in Aus . ''cheers''
Awesome job. I enjoyed how you made it with mostly basic tools.
@@benbrubaker7896 Thanks , yeah it’s so satisfying making something with basic tools , I use a combination of both (modern/basic)….thank you for watching 🙏🏻
Great job best one I've seen
Thanks so much ! I'm glad you enjoyed it , 🙏
I was worried when I saw you nailing the drawers, but I see how the trim covers them up. I'm greatly relieved. Excellent job; gorgeous board!
Thanks for the nice comment Tim , the board was a fun project using scrap of cut wood .

Thanks Wally! Love your design. It’s just what I wanted. I may “dress” it up a bit and make it a touch more feminine 😌
Wow, I really enjoyed your project. And I would love to help you create a step by step PDF plan. Would you be open to collaborating? Looking forward to hearing from you.
Dimension plz
Gooday Wally, Another meaningful video and a great theme as well. The original stool looks well used and appreciated. A redo from year eight in 1981 means I am an older man than you, not that it's a competition. Anyway, great to see you in the workshop getting dusty. Regards James
Thanks James , Yeah the 80's were an awesome time growing up! I must admit though , using the coping saw after all these years was challenging , but so satisfying once completed . All my project/builds are made outside under the pergola beside the colour bond fence (alfresco).. Cheers - Wally
Very cool. I have a silly question. I’m American, so we don’t use metric as often as Europeans do. My question is, why use millimeters when you could use centimeters? I’m sure there’s a logical reason. Thanks for all you do.😊
@@lisastaven494 it's not a silly question, at junior school (primary school) children are introduced to centimetres, however at secondry school (high school)....we slowly make the transition to milimetres . Australia made the transition from imperial to metric in 1970 .
You are coping well.
