To me, Alma's statement to Izlude about the beast being slain was not based on knowledge, rather it was her attempt to get him to settle down. He said he needed to fight, and she assured him the battle was over. This was more bedside manner to a dying man. She didn't want him to struggle with tasks left undone. Also, Ramza and Alma are not fully of noble blood like Zalbag and Dycedarg. Makes me think their mother is the cause of their special destiny blood.

I don't remember if this got addressed on an earlier episode or not (commenting while listening to the ep), but there's a fan mod of FF Tactics called "Journey of the Five" that is specifically a sequel to the PSX version of Tactics where you play as Ramza, Cloud, Solid Snake, Link from Legend of Zelda and Dante from Devil May Cry. It's an absurdly difficult challenge mod but with shockingly good writing for the story, excellent graphics and engaging new mechanics. Since Solid Snake was brought up in this episode I figured I'd give it a mention in case I hadn't mentioned it in a previous comment. Fun Fact: Solid Snake is my favorite Tactics character to play as. That comment is not a joke.

I've always taken the part where the stone falls out of Alma's clothes as it just wasn't secured enough in her pocket for when she'd be slung over someone's shoulder. Vormav didn't even know she had the stone, the thing just reacted to Alma, herself.

Kind of surprised how quickly you brushed past Barrington's "the flesh remembers" speech, without really parsing it? It's probably the most memorable line to me in the game, chilling, skin-crawling stuff.

Love Luso. Such a great character. Tactics A2 has a weaker story overall, but Luso's charm carries that game in the same way that Sly or Arnold carry an action movie based on their charisma.

If you try walking following the railroad before entering the trai n to Deling City you will see a Galbadian military car parked on the rails, i believe the reason is to Block you accesing Deling City on food before the train scene. The train scene aknowledge the train chrasing this car and removing it from the trails, thats the gag 😂

As I learned on Resonant Archive’s coverage of the series the Lucavi speak exclusively in iambic pentameter (at least they do in the WOTL version) but as I’m not playing along with this I can’t say whether it can be seen yet. Your discussion on telling the difference between demonic and divine makes me curious about your opinions on the ending of Shadow of the Colossus. I’ve seen so many videos where people exclaim that Dormin is obviously evil when the truth of the matter is incredibly ambiguous.

I will prefer a remake on the style of Tactics Ogre for this game. Not every game fix for hyper realistic remake like FFVII. This channel is my choice for my gym workouts, somedays i dont feel like working out, but then i think I wont be able to listen retrograde and motivate me to go to the gym 😅.

The game, when you're experienced with it, is very easy to break, and, in one way, yes, a lot of the most broken stuff is in the jobs available to everyone. However, the unique characters basically trade out squire's active ability set (which is useless for everyone except Ramza's unique squire anyway) for a more useful one, and typically better stat growths/equip options than squire as well, so they're pretty much straight upgrades to generic characters. At least personally, when I replay it I tend to use the named characters pretty much exclusively, and try to build them in such a way that they use their unique abilities/job as either primary or secondary (though Alicia, Lavian, and Ladd do fulfil an early generic character role for powerful generic combinations). Some characters have relatively mediocre jobs, but some very much have their own niches that set them apart from generics. Agrias' job is pretty powerful (anything that can equip Knight Swords is, especially when they have active abilities more useful than the regular Knight), and she joins a lot earlier than the other unique characters that have powerful jobs (one of which is pretty much a straight upgrade to Agrias...). A lot of them are hidden in side quests, and some of them aren't *really* worth the effort, though - and you can happily beat the game without touching them. Indeed, depending on the amount of grinding you're doing, the unique characters will join pretty underpowered compared to existing party members, needing a lot of effort to catch up in terms of passives, reactions, secondary ability sets etc.

Oh, no, I'm pretty sure Delita is absolutely bullshitting - he had no relationship with the Black Rams, but with the death of Baron Grimms, there's no-one to dispute his story, so he can worm his way into the Southern Sky. And I do think Glevanne was innocent, but I don't think it's a council plot - this again is Delita killing his way into Goltanna's good graces, by "revealing a traitor" on the council and then killing him quickly before the details can be examined.

Stumbled across this series last week and am enjoying it. Small tip, JP progression is shared a little bit between units that participated in the same battle, so if you have a knight and an archer in the same battle, the knight will get about 1/4 of what the archer earned and vice versa.

Once again, I appreciate you guys not being afraid to be political. The "anti-woke" crowd (aka the worst people on the internet) freak out at the slightest pushback against their ideology, so it's refreshing to hear you guys crack jokes about politics in a way that's both informed and contextual based upon what is happening in the course of the podcast. Still waiting for a comment asking people to "keep politics out of my video games" when playing a political thriller, but I'm sure it definitely will happen at some point.
