  • Honest work would see us die old in bed. Instead of that, we’re flashing to a different back, hearing of the Corpse Brigade Death Corps, teaming up with the cops to murder homeless veterans, randomly generating soldiers, getting on the roof, name-dropping our nobility, learning from the computer, droppin’ crystal, crafting a homely bar scene, reading lore, wondering who is writing history, dying in the middle of the room, treating the bastard like family, and witnessing Argath’s frisky animations. We’re definitely the bad guys.

    In case it helps...
Bravery is primarily associated with physical attacks and counters. It can determine whether some attacks or skills fail or trigger at all. If you're Bravery stat drops too much, you'll turn into a literal chicken.
Faith is related to magic and can determine the success and potency of spells.
In some cases it can be useful to have low or high of either stat. If you know your opponent casts a lot of magic, having more faith will only cause more pain for you.
    Cheers! Great podcast, as usual

It's worth noting that brave doesn't affect *all* phsyical damage in the way faith effects (almost) all magic damage/effect chances, incoming or outgoing - bravery only affects outgoing damage from very specific weapon categories (unarmed, knight swords, and katanas), and has no impact on incoming damage. But, it also affects reaction chance for most reaction abilities, and (inversely) affects the quality of items found with Treasure Hunter/Move Find Item.

Sometimes you want to hear some guys talk about Final Fantasy, and sometimes you want to hear guys talk about Bruce Springsteen, and sometimes the same guys talk about both in one podcast, and that's why this is a good podcast.

Dunno if this has been pointed out yet, but when you inherit abilities from a crystal, you get all of them, not just one - the list is just to let you see everything you're getting.

Wait, really? In my memory there was an arrow and you has to go up and down and click one and confirm that was the one you wanted, am I totally misremembering or is that just a case of weird UI not really representing things well?

@@drakeamendola7647 Weird UI thing, yeah. iirc, the arrow would let you view more info about the specific abilities you were getting, and I think it does in fact have you confirm closing the menu, which really makes it feel like you're making a bigger decision than you really are (I mean, this outcome is bigger, obviously, but the decision to close the list is inconsequential).
But yeah, it's all of em. You can get pretty big stockpiles of abilities if you absorb enemies in further-back jobs that require them to have job levels in a couple others as well, like summoners, or, if you don't mind the weirdness to the RP side of it, pass on a bunch of abilities from one character to another (eg, to get a late addition story character caught up by giving them abilities from a generic they outclass with their unique job).
You don't get every ability they had though, there's a chance for each one, which I guess is a lot of the reason for the list in the first place. Still, it can save a reasonable amount of grinding (the only caveat being you need to have a job unlocked on the recieving character already to receive abilities for that job)

@@drakeamendola7647 Yep! Interface is certainly confusing, I think nearly anyone would assume that it's for picking an ability, rather than just browsing/getting more info on all of the abilities you're getting.

It was in the same year, which is why I'm reminded of it so well, but Dycedarg always looked like the werewolf from Backstreet Boys's "Everybody" video

    Scenario Busters are bustin scenarios.
Politics in games are fine and good, it's just all about how they're delivered, that's my lukewarm take.
