ALL Renogy PWM solar controller compared! Wanderer 10 & 30 Li, Voyager and Adventurer
Let's compare all PWM solar Controllers made by Renogy. They sell a tons of them and direct comparaison is pretty hard to find. In this video, I wanted to assemble the information in one place so they would be easy to find.
I did not do a charging test as all these PWM charge controllers are using the same simple technology and past experience showed me that these with the same setup, performed identically.
Here is a list of the models covered in this review:
No name Chinese brand model W88-A
Renogy Wanderer 10
Renogy Wanderer 30 Li
Renogy Voyager
Renogy Adventurer
Hope you will enjoy.

Nice. They spelled " brake" wrong on the brown one! They wrote "break". Thanks for the video.
Ok... I didn't noticed it before. That's hilarious!
Where do you get your price? The small cheaper wanderer is near 80$ on their website!
Good point. You will notice that their prices are really moving around depending on I don't know what. I just checked on Amazon and they are the price I mentioned except for the Adventurer that is now 69.99 $CA, 10 $CA more then last week when I filmed this video. Again, I suggest you get a kit with the unit you want. They usually are a better deal.
Thanks for this side by side overview. Very usefull!
Thanks! I really appreciate it!
I am so disappointed in Jackery, bought 2 of these 100 plus and neither on of them had the cable to connect to a solar panel.
Indeed it does not. You do however have the USB-c to their barrel plug adapter for the solar panels.
Bought both pieces yesterday, 4/16/24 on Amazon. VTOman 600x Jump $279. .. Deal of the Day. -$70.00 off (VTOman 600x $209)... 600x Extra Battery $239. ... -$25.00 promotional if you joined Prime. Total cost of BOTH units: $425/sans tax. Two positives about this unit glossed over are: 1. LiFePO4 battery. 2. Pass thru charging. .. In the running for buy of the year.
Nice buy! I checked here and unfortunately they do not make these deals on this side of the border. That end up being about 45 cents per watt! Thanks for pointing these positives out. I have to say that in 2024, unless a unit do not have those features where I would mention it, I take these almost for granted now. I'll remember it for my next portable power station review (yeah, I also purchased something during prime day!) .
@@leewaymodels Understood concerning battery cell composition. Your audience, however, is not necessarily up to date on battery cell composition differences, .. pros and cons. Many batteries on the market are still NOT LiFePO4.
Good point, will remember it. Since you just purchased it and will have the very lastest version of it, could you check if by any chance yours has a bi-directional USB-c port. Turns out that another power station I have has the feature without it being documented anywhere. It would actually cut down the charge time by half on this unit! The way to activate it on the other power station is to plug a USB-c cable in both the power station and the power source, THEN activate the button to enable USB power.
Thanks!
Interesting
Beautiful
Indeed it is! Thanks for watching.
i got 2 sd 7 from Life Like last year and it takes a lot of power too, maybe they used diffrent power packs back in the days?
The powerpack sure were different. I wouldn't use them with modern locomotive though as I would be afraid to damage the locomotives and some electronics that are in them. Mechanism as a whole are also much more efficient in modern model trains compared to the older ones, this is why they can now crawl using very little power.
Looks like Vtoman is cheeping out on components, I got a refurbished one with a new expandable battery, my power station has 2 fans all 4 corners made of aluminum and lid handle just like the expandable battery. Never connect this Vtoman 600x using the battery port to any of the big power stations cause you’ll damage your 600x, I learned that the hard way 😅
Very interresting. I saw that there was a place to connect a second fan. I was thinking on installing one but I can only recall once when the fan turned on at all so I'm not sure that it would be wroth it. Aluminium corners and handle support would sure be nice. I would've be interested in knowing when your unit was produced and how much it costed back then so we can track when they did the switch. Mine dated back from september 2023.
Oh yeah, I sure would not plug it to anything else now that you mentioned that!
What song is this? Ive been looking for it since bachmann released their 009 models for the first time
I am trying to find it but so far without success. This one came from the UA-cam music database but I can't remember which one. I'll try to get the info.
@@leewaymodels I just found it! It took the whole week, but it's called The Premeir. Good choice of music on this unboxing! It fits the theme perfectly
Thanks, I will add it to the description!
I picked up this set for £109. I am moving to N scale & have planned a 3 level layout. The track from this set is being used as part of the bottom level & the loco & wagons will service a quarry on the top level. Great value & runs really well. A good review with useful info for anyone interested in this set. Thank you.
109£ is pretty good! Thanks for the nice comment. I'm happy it helped you!
So do you have a link?
I'm afraid I don't have one. I checked where I purchased it and unfortunately they do not have it in stock.
I have Tomix with the standard A track extended to about 2.4 meter. I then bought another set with A track, but this time bought the smaller curves and extra straight so I have 2 loops .about 37 mm apart. It does feel and look quality. You can't go past Japanese products they are great. Both sets are the Blue Train with 4 cars on each.
That must look great!
How it is compared to the Bluetti eb3a and the Ecoflow river 2?
For the EB3A, I made a direct comparison it in the first video I did about the Jump600x that you can access here: ua-cam.com/video/P7XuaDEf5nw/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared For the River 2, the Jump 600x has more base capacity (about 40wh more by itself) & can be expended to almost 1kwh with the 600x extra battery showed in this video. The inverter is also much bigger then on the River 2 and as such, those tests I did on the Jump 600x with the coffee machine would not have worked with the Ecoflow unit unless you went with the larger River 2 pro . However, both the River 2 and the EB3A are more compact, charge faster, have an app available to control / monitor it. They have more "features" like UPS mode and do not need an external power brick. The river 2 is around the same price as the Jump600x while the EB3A is pricier.
@@leewaymodels I wasn't expecting this specific answer! Thank you for that, it is still very hard to choose one of them honestly. I need the most reliable one, thank you again!
Happy to help. I own all 3 and do not think reliability is a problem on these. If it can help you decide, think of it this way: If what you want is a larger inverter with a larger total capacity that can be expended in a value package but you do not care that it charges slower or that it does not have all bells and whistles that the Bluetti & Ecoflow units have, then Jump 600x. If you need a compact unit with a lot of features like UPS mode, faster charge and app control but inverter size is not as important, then River 2. If you want a both a large inverter and the above features and you do not plan to expend the capacity to 1kwh, then EB3A if you do not mind spending a bit more.
@@leewaymodels I want to use it for astrophotography with an eq6 pro mount which is using 37A and also to power a mini pc which draws much more less than that. And maybe ocasionally want to charge my phone. That would be all! I red many negative feedback on the river 2 and the eb3a but nothing about the jump 600x , which pishez me more towards the 600x but my main concern is the slow charging, anyways you helped me so much, I just need to decide which one to buy. And can get each of them for the same price £200
Interresting use! One thing though. The Bluetti and Ecoflow are both very popular. By sheer numbers they outsell Vtoman units several times. When something goes wrong, people are more likely to talk about it around 10x more then when things go well. So at this point it is just a question of statistics. Generally when there is an issue with a unit, it will be out of the box. Make sure you test it out before you use it in your project.

Just looked them up. They sure looks very similar to these!
nice set , those tight curves are like torture to watch !!
I agree with you. They sure made me laugh when I saw it worked on them! Thank for watching.
There is a red button to start and stop
Yeah it was not working. Both leads were soldered on the same side of the switch or something similar. I fixed it since then.
Nice demo of the Kato Compact Track set. One quibble -- it's pronounced "Kah-toe" not "Kay-toe". A tip about the track - separate it by bending horizontally, not pulling or flexing vertically. I've been playing around with the Compact Track a lot lately. It's surprising how much equipment will run on it. Most shorter 4-axle diesels (F units, GP20 and earlier) run fine even (or particularly) with body mount couplers. Most 40' and 50' freight cars with body mount couplers too. I have even got Bachmann 60' passenger cars fitted with body mount couplers to work well. Some equipment *does* need tuning, but that's part of the challenge/fun. Mixing body mount and talgo (truck mounted) couplers is asking for trouble, as you saw with the Atlas Dash-8 and a couple of random talgo equipped cars.
Thanks for the tip. Here I was trying to translate Kato to English when I should've pronounced like I would do it in my mother thong! I second what you are saying about separating the tracks. Much easier on a flat surface. Since I filmed this, I tested the CV1 with most N scale stuff I reviewed to see if it would work with it. I found out that most "bo-bo" (2 bogies of 2 axles) locomotive will work on it as you said. Any locomotive with either a "Bo-Bo-Bo" configuration , "Co-Co" configuration or a 0-6-0 configuration will not work.
Can you leave a link to the 12v car charger?

@@leewaymodels OK
Hey can you do a c62 locomotive next
Unfortunately I do not have a c62 in my collection at this time. However I am planning to do a EMD SWxx locomotive next. If I am not mistaken, it is the American locomotive that inspired the class 121 you requested a while ago.
Actually the sw8/sw9 l switchers where modified for Irish railways
I have one on 0-27 scale. Having to do a video on it will give me a reason to repair it as it dates back from the 1950s. It is very old and not working at this time.
Could you do a vedeo fixing it
A bit late for that I am afraid. I started fixing it last year and did about 80% of the job already. I only need to find or 3D print a few small parts, re-assemble it and it will be ready.

@@leewaymodelsWow that a really big track by comparison. I think I'll have to pick up this set. Thanks for your time.
Indeed, Kato is generous with the M1 set. All the "V" track sets also makes it easy to expand your layout. At some point, I'll have a better living space where I will be able to build something.
Tuff choice, I think you get more track with the Kato sets, but Tomix seems to have more availability locally. I have a lean towards the Tomix " Blue train " The price is good, and you get 4 cars plus loco. Then some extra track I can keep to about $ 300 Australia with free delivery . Many thanks for review.
Tomix blue train, just looked it up. It looks nice! Good choice. The oval of track in it is bigger then the one in this video I think.
I added 4 x 280 straights length then an inner loop . No switches yet, kids only 4 and just likes operating anything even the tv.
Nice!
