    The best thing about this device is that it has LiFEPO4 batteries. They have a lower capacity per cubic inch but these batteries have triple the recharge count and is less prone to overheating or shorting as compared to a Lithium Polymer battery.

      Sure. It also mean that there is no cooling required and as such, the unit is completely silent!

    Thanks for this...Jackery just put this on sale for $129 CDN so I was thinking about grabbing one. Always out roaming in places that don't have power so sometimes it worries me and this seems the right size to have a little added security.

    • @leewaymodels
      @leewaymodels  4 місяці тому +1

      129 is a good price for this unit. Usually so far when it is on sale, I've seen it for around $ 139 CDN to $ 159 CDN. Thanks for watching!

    Thanks for this two part review (initial and follow-up)!
    I ordered one along with their new 40W Panel to run my Portable Amateur Radio setup.
    It shouldn't make to much RF Noise due to it only having DC outputs.
    If it does, it'll still be very useful for my other electronics for other applications.

      Happy I could help! I have some more follow up video on the way for other power stations models.
      40w panel should be enough for this unit if you want to keep a balance between portability and capacity.

    I love the follow up. I have the same unit along with the 300 and 1000 and I agree that it makes an amazing accompany power pack

      Thanks for the Feedback. A lot of people only open the box and do a few tests. I just felt like it was important to look at longer term ownership of these products. I will also do a follow-up with the other portable power stations I have reviewed so far (the Vtoman Jump 600x and LMENGER X3 Pro).

    Great video. Not many reviews of this besides your videos. I’m able to get Anker 548 for almost the same price $10 more. It’s 192 wh I think but heavy. I don’t know which to choose

    • @leewaymodels
      @leewaymodels  7 місяців тому +1

      Thanks! That's exactly why I made it as I couldn't find any information about it when I purchased it. I looked at the Anker 548. It does not seems to be available where I live but here is a few things I noticed:
      - Same battery chemistry
      - almost 2x the power reserve
      - nice "camp light" feature.
      - Price seems to be quite a bit more expensive then the Jackery. That being said Keep in mind I gave the price I paid in Canadian Dollars. I saw the explorer getting around 100$USD when on sale.
      That being said, The Explorer 100 plus main advantage is portability. I keep my Jackery in my laptop suitcase. Also the construction build & customer support is very good like I said in the first video, I don't know about the Anker.
      In the end, I do not think that they serve the exact same purpose. At these prices they are dirt cheap. You can buy BOTH for the price of a Bluetti EB3A.
      Very small power stations like these are niche products. Their value per wh isn't the best. If you do not have any portable power station at all and are on a budget. I would look instead at either the new Bluetti AC2A, the older EB3A or the Ecoflow River 2. You will get much more for your $. In any case, portable power stations are almost always on sale. Don't pay full price.

      @@leewaymodels thanks for the reply! Yes the explorer plus 100 is in a league of it's own right now. And more versatile due to its size. I think I will not regret getting it. If it's not enough, I can then go bigger :)

    I recently purchased the dune color Jackery 100, but didnt see a usb- c adapter. Does it come attached to the usb-c cable supplied?

      Just for fun, I looked at the US website of jackery and compared it to the Canadian one. On the Canadian website, they states that the adapter is included but not on the US website. However on the US one, I can see that you can order it with a different colour (dune white like you got) and also order separately a small carrying bag that we do not have access to in Canada.

    Would I be able to use my android phone charger w/ fast charging regular outlet to usb c to charge the jackery?

    • @leewaymodels
      @leewaymodels  7 місяців тому +1

      It does work (did it today by the way), but it will be quite long to charge. USB "Fast charger" is maximum 18w while USB-c "Power Delivery" is max 100w.
      To charge 99.2wh with 18w would be minimum 5.5 hours while with power delivery it is 1h45 to 2 hours. (as it slows down the charge the closer it is to being fully charged to protect the battery)

      @Antonius17 7 місяців тому +1

      @@leewaymodels Awesome. Thanks for ur review so now i'll look into getting that power delivery cable

    • @leewaymodels
      @leewaymodels  7 місяців тому

      A compatible cable comes with the unit. All you need is a compatible power adapter. Search for
      USB-c PD adapter. And check the amount of watt it can output.

    Can you charge it using both usb c ports same time?

    • @leewaymodels
      @leewaymodels  4 місяці тому

      I tried, not sure how it gets its power (either from one or 50% - 50%) but it won't charge faster if that is your question.

  • @rommelrodriguez14
    @rommelrodriguez14 5 місяців тому

    does it have charge limited such as only at 80 percent or 90 even? thanks

    • @leewaymodels
      @leewaymodels  5 місяців тому +2

      No it does not. I understand why you would want that but:
      - It does have LifePo4 chemistry so it lasts a lot longer stability (3000+ complete cycles before having 80% of original capacity)
      - on such a small device, it would reduce its usefullness by a significant margin.
      - It is not excessively expensive by the time it dies in 10 + years, much better stuff will be available.

    The actual capacity is 23,680 mAh

    • @leewaymodels
      @leewaymodels  6 місяців тому +7

      As a friendly advice, I would advise against using mAh to refer to battery capacity. It leads to misleading comparisons at best and a marketing scam at worse.
      Allow me to explain. Watt (W) is a combination of volts (V) and amp (A) . So w = V x A
      The other letter in the mAh unit can be described as follow:
      The "h" only represents hour meaning that the unit can run at that capacity for an hour.
      The "m" represent 1/1000 of an amp. Standard in the metric system.
      By using Watt, you have both combined. To get a given number of Watt, you need to have a certain amount of both. If you decrease volts(v) , then amps (a) needs to increase and vice versa. If you take just amps (A), there is no way you can know the amounts of volts or watt.
      I this case, i know that the capacity is 99.2wh. I take your mAh value and divide it by 99.2wh and it equals 4.18 volts.
      What certain retailer do is that they advertise big mAh numbers but have power station that have a very low voltage. If it still had the same amount of mAh as you said but ran only at 2 volts instead of 4, you would have roughly half the battery capacity for the same mAh value.
      Watt per hour cannot be played with. It is just the total amount of energy in the battery. It makes for easy comparison between units.
      Did not wanted to sound like a snob, but I see these advertised so often with mAh and people see these big numbers thinking they get something great when in fact they are getting something totally different.

      So I taught at first if you saw my first video. It just turns out that after using it for a while, you realise that a 100w USB-c Power Delivery port is now a very common power source and as such it can be used in a lot of situation. I now always carry it in my laptop bag to litteraly triple the computer's battery time.

      You are right it is not cheap for what it is. However it is very well built and has a good sizeformat which cannot be reflected on paper. It is really wroth it to wait for sales instead of getting a unit more cheaply built.

      I am quite interested in the barrel adapter to USB C@@leewaymodels

    • @leewaymodels
      @leewaymodels  5 місяців тому

      Interresting piece of kit indeed. From what I read, that adapter also comes with the Jackery Explorer 300+. However there is a big label on it saying not to use it anything else not designed for it though. I do not know if there is any special hardware behind that USB-c port on the power station that detects if it is used and act accordingly or if it is just something to limit their responsabilities in case something goes wrong with another device.
