I'm in a Floyd tribute and gotta say that playing Floyd drums is an absolute pleasure. Laying down a simple groove, then going into one of those classic Masonistic fills is pure fun.
How and what Nick played was an integral part of what made Pink Floyds music sound good. Underappreciated for sure. I remember having to play some Pink Floyd and laughing as my singer tells me, " Ok Nick Mason Quaalude beat" 😂😂😂
The early era of Pink Floyd was the best. 1970 to 73 was peak Floyd. At least the live bootlegs I've heard are mind blowing. Check some of those out. Nick Mason is much more active during live shows. Cheers great vid.
Really cool to see an analytical video on Nick Mason like this. I just got back into drumming very recently after not playing for about 10 years and a large part of that is because I discovered Pink Floyd! I aspire to play Like Mason, very melodic and tastefull!
I have always loved Nick Mason from the beginning. My dad says he is simple. But I love his style. Its so unique. I especially love his feeling for the groove and his slow fills. He is so methodic. His shining moment for me is the live version of Echoes from the Pompei movie.
I have been mesmerized by Nick since the early 70’s… got my first kit in 78. Him, Mitch Mitchell, and Stewart Copeland were 3 of my early idols… among so many great drummers I admired. I love what you’re doing. You’re so comfortable in all signatures, and you’re really good at explaining cool shtuff. Keep on ratatat tatting I super enjoy.
Great 👍 Demonstration & Explanation young man. I don't Read or Write music. Floyd was my 1st teacher. I learned how to play drums with Nick. Thanks, keep posting.
'Time' The drums and bass are beyond funky, and that guitar solo is absolutely delicious. And, of course .... Congratulations on 50,000 Subscribers, Cobb!
Nice work. Nicks style isn’t as easy as it looks or sounds. His live work from back in the day is pretty heavy I think. Check out Pink Floyd’s audio videos on here from the animals tour. Almost dare I say… metal. I’m blessed that I got to see them on the Animals tour and Wish You Were Here tour. Peace!
You make me fall in love with every single person you present, you show their magic! Thank you! Speaking of love, I adore Leah Shapiro, there's a darkness there I connect with. You like her? or BRMC in general? bye bye
Nick Mason is truly a brilliant drummer because he treats the drums as a musical instrument. That being said, I wouldn't agree with you that he is ever holding back when playing. He is untrained and doesn't have much in the way of "chops". So it isn't like he is capable of doing busier stuff and just choosing not to - he is playing to the max of his technical abilities. I think of him the same way that I think of Ringo Starr. They are two of the greatest precisely because they are musicians rather than technical drumming wizards.
You can tell the difference in a musician based on the way they describe Nick Mason and drummers like Phil Rudd. “Space” and “boring” Are the difference between a musician and an elitist gatekeeper

EXACTLY this!
I like the drumming of Nick Mason, because he plays the music and doesn't play himself, cheers.
“Great gig in the sky”
One of my absolute favorite things of all time

Pink Floyd certainly isn't underrated, but I think Nick Mason is under appreciated.
👏👏👏👏
Those videos about famous drummers is great

“They had NICK MASON” hell YES!!!!
His drumming on Scream Thy Last Scream is fantastic

Thank you for bringing up the great drumming of Nick Mason with great feeling !

Thanks for this. You just earned a place in my PINK FLOYD-playlist on YT.
Favourite Nick Mason track is Fearless from Meddle. Less is more:)

Wow an actual expert on Nick Mason ! how exciting?
really enjoyed your video--drumming and analysis and singing and talking

Absolutely LOVED your video Bro, and your analysis! Thank you, and subbed!
Great!
So good
There’s a song Called The Grand Vizers Garden Party, it’s a solo by Nick Mason. It’s in UmmaGumma
Great video Cobb! Miss seeing you at LRSD practices.
Nick got his feel from interacting with keyboardist Rick Wright. It is impossible to imitate early Masonic playing w/o Wright...
IMHO
New here - you’re an awesome drummer!!!

You didn't mention any song from Animals, a "heavier" album compared with their Best known records
hdr video really makes a difference
« A saucerful of secrets »Pompéi version.

This vídeo was on a fantasy. .
I am producing a retrospective film on Roger Waters. Could I please ask permission to maybe use a clip of this video?
Kind regards
Barry
Nick Mason's drumming is a lot like David Gilmour's guitar. It's not fast, nor flashy, and yet so complex.
Cobb, what drum kit do you play?
Its a Red Sparkle Sonor Safari (10", 14", 16", with a 14" snare)

Less is MORE.
Always ....
where is your wizard hat?
Nick is just so relaxed and sparse; but let loose a bit live.
