Went to a Q&A with Kevin Smith and he answered ONE girl’s question for an hour. No one else got to ask a question. But I don’t think anyone was mad about it. Still love him dearly.

I was at the taping of the Too Fat For 40 DVD where he went 3 and a half hours on the first question, lol. There was a bunch of shit that had happened to him in the intervening years between big Q&A's so I think he just found a smart way to get that shit out of the way, because he just knew the first couple questions would be about the too fat to fly shit, Cop Our, etc.
He did another hour and a half answering multiple question, but yeah, that first one was a three hour stoneriffic storytelling journey, lol

I wasn’t a regular follower of Smith’s blog, but at one point he told the long history of Jay’s battle with heroin and his own attempts to help him, over 12 or 20 long blog entries. I’ve read the whole thing twice and it should still be on the Net somewhere. Such a difficult addiction to kick; the relapse rate after “quitting” is incredibly high, and the addict will lie to his loved ones about still being “clean” when they’re obviously not. Great reading!

What i really respect about Jason and Kevin is, that (sadly) Jason went through some dark, bad shit, addictions and stuff, but Kevin never lost his faith in him, never left his side.
And Jason fighting hard to come back on top, regardless of the struggles he faced, these guys are true friends and an inspiration on how to be a real friend.
Too many people drop friends, when it gets hard for different reasons, and than i say, have you really been friends? if i look at Jason and Kevin, then i'd say no, you were not real friends, real friends stick together, and try to help the one who is down on his luck.
And Kevin did exactly that, and Jason in turn, has shown he wants to fight to get things back on track.
I have high respect for them (both kinds :P)

Kevin Smith is the perfect level of famous. He's done everything he's wanted to do, meaning his movies have always been the vehicles he's wanted them to be, there's been very little compromise he's dealt with because he'd walk away if it wasn't right.
He's loaded enough monetarily that life is really good and exceptionally comfortable but he's not filthy, disgusting rich. He's famous enough that his fans will instantly recognize him but not so famous that he can't go to Walmart or the movies because most folks wouldn't know him from Adam.
Great guy, brilliant writer and he does it his way, period. He's very much someone to look up to if you're even considering getting into writing. You gotta love him. 👍

Jason Mewes once came to my northern BC town and we got to ask him questions from the audience. When I got handed the mic, I don't remember what I asked him, but he went on a rant about dicks for like 10 minutes and it was one of the best moments of my life.
Good to see Jason doing well, he was looking a bit rough for a while back in the day.
Props to Kevin for having his back through recovery.

I was fortunate enough to go to Kevin's house once to interview the two of them. Jason is genuinely goofy and funny, and Kevin is an absolutely hilarious and genuinely gracious person that did us a solid. They didn't even charge us for the interview, and we invaded his home for a couple hours ON THE DAY HIS DOG WAS DYING. He is exactly how you think he is in person.

I've never seen a standing ovation in a movie theater in my life. When I was a child with my brother and my stepdad when he snuck us into(from our mom) to watch this movie, the whole theater stood up in clapped and was laughing. In Phoenix. Insane.
