The execution of Oleg Penkovsky is depicted here in the accepted norm of a bullet to the back of the head..The reality is thought to be that due to the extent of his betrayal, he was taken down to the basement of the Lubyanka, to the heating furnace, and with a number of his contemporaries present to witness the event, acting as a deterrent, he was fed into the furnace, feet first, while still alive.
Yeah now a days we carry around devices that allow them to collect data from our pulse to location and everything between. So alot less of the James Bond stuff lots of spying on everyone
What Garbo and Tricycle did was amazing. Tricycle even met Hoover in DC in 1942 but Hoover hated his playboy life so he had nothing to do with him. Threw him outta his office. Idiot.
My college roommate’s father was a prominent New York attorney who defended David Greenglass. My roommate said his father confirmed that the Rosenbergs were guilty.
The music was ridiculously loud and utterly unnecessary!. Were the directors too influenced by Hollywood? This is reality, not fiction and needs no enhancement.
@@Roz-y2dThe non-fiction story was great. David Niven was on the team that created the life and personality of mincemeat. One example was opening and closing the love letter thousands of times. Positively strategic to have an expired driver's license in his wallet.
Interesting/informative/entertaining. Excellent photography still-motion pictures/reenactments/documents. Enabling viewers to better understand what the orator was describing. Special thanks to guest speakers making this documentary more authentic and possible -!!!😉. And last if not least. The espeonise agents whom risk life & limb. Obtaining valuable information/deceiving other agents in the process. Moral of this intelligence operation story. Dead men tell no tales -!!! 😇
The music is TOO LOUD and IRRITATING!!! Had to turn it off. Why is this always done in war shows? The subject itself is exciting. I don't need to have my nerves jangled and manipulated. I want to be able to think about what I'm learning. 😱😱😱
“ He would take 3 pages to say something that you and I would use 2 paragraphs for “. Don’t we all know someone like that? Don’t think that is something anyone should strive to be.
Music too loud, it's a given BUT this is by far and I mean FAR, the BEST documentary ever made on spying (and obviously, the underestimated extent of it) in the mid 20th Century. #Brilliant
This documentary states the USSR placed missiles on Cuba out of the blue. It doesn't mention that the United States placed missiles in Turkey before that and that is what provoked them to do it.
is there a documentary thats focuses on how germany deloped such a modern and profesional army considering that they where no supposed to after WWI. I mean kind of hard to hide
Being forced to have a small army in terms of numbers allowed them to concentrate on having their forces very highly trained. Also remember WW1 was only 20 years previous to ,ww2. There was a lot of expertise and facilities around.
It was an informative and wonderful historical coverage documentary about 5 Master spying ( double cross)individuals ( 3🕵2🕵♀️,) they deciepeted Germans...it a thrilled watching documentary ...documentary shared by an excellent ( Get.factual) channel.
To be critical of your criticism: It's great to be critically minded, but feeling grateful and expressing your appreciation for being fed, for the fact that someone put out the strong effort to make a history documentary exciting, is arguably a more appropriate response to this fine bit of educational filmmaking. For me, the music works better in some moments to accentuate the tension created by the script and images, and at other times the music stands out too much and so it distracts my attention from the content more than enhances the moment. But what am I a film critic? I keep watching and enjoying and learning anyway, so the filmmakers succeeded. That was their goal: bravo! Thanks, guys!
Fun fact. General Patton is the person to have shot Pancho Villa. Villa and his men were rIding paatons army barracks and stealing food and medical supplys. Patton pulled his pistol, probably a 1921 .45 cal a.c.p. and shot Pancho Villa n the lower abdomen. He survived.
Operation Husky...despite all the subterfuge almost failed... the Hermann Göring Division counter attacked, and with their fully equipped Tiger Companies, they drove Allied forces back to the beachhead and were only 400 yards from the beach when Ships Artillery saved them from being wiped out. The 17th SS Division " Reichsführer SS" fresh and fully equipped fought several sharp engagements until they fell back and evacuated to mainland Italia fully intact. Husky just barely succeeded.
Unfortunately, the documentary made the USA seem to the defender not the aggressor. The missile crisis was a result of US aggression (the failed and illegal Bay of Pigs invasion). The cold war didn't begin after WW2. It began in 1917 when we invaded Russia. Everyone forgets The first Red Scare in the 1920s and The Second Red Scare in the 1950s. During the Cold War, we supported brutal dictators while the Soviets supported liberation movements.
I never understood Russia's take on and fear of capitalism until now. Capitalists are just as subject to empire building and predatory behavior as any other economic model.
" He gave his life for a cause he defended" really? Oleg wanted to be the greatest, based on that it was all ego because he felt wronged by his superiors which made him turn to begin with. Garbo on the other hand was driven by something bigger. Btw the MUSIC IS SO LOUD AND ANNOYING WHY????????????
3 living children and was a wife to a peace time Canadian Soldier serving in Germany in 1963. She was so scared when the Russian and American decided to bring the world to a possible WW 3. She never got over her fear of big governments, I feel bad for all the “little” people all around the world who were afraid that leaders were leading us to our death.
Tricycle boosted of his playboy lifestyle, womanizing and partying. Double standard if that was a woman spy carrying on in such a manner she wouldn't have been called all kinds of names and had a reputation that a documentary wouldn't have been made about her. Garbo was the ultimate spy and still maintained a family life while working very hard and ultimately saved far more lives than Tricycle. 23:31

Yes, but Op mincemeat was superb!
BRILLIANT Documentary there! Great Work Get.Factual Team
My favorite part was when the music was way too loud 😳
(Sarcasm)
Its not background music, its noise. Spoiled the program.
Thank you for this very excellent documentary. There should be a lot more of these explaining things we were never taught about.

This is amazing documentary, truly get factual is here in these episode, thank you for uploading this. 🙏
Wow the intro is crazy realistic 😂😂😂😂😂😂
This would have been a great documentary without the frantic music or no music at all.
Brilliant spy documentary.

Yeah, but the missile gap was great for business.
is there a documentary thats focuses on how germany deloped such a modern and profesional army considering that they where no supposed to after WWI. I mean kind of hard to hide
There probably is somewhere, but unsurprisingly the Germans haven’t been banging on about it!

Always dramatic music with these historic documentaries, sometimes its just to much. Not a fan of it

Just turn the music down a little! So bloody annoying.
What I find amazing and think shows the impact a person or operation had, is when it is STILL classified as top secret 79 years later
14.00 wow he looks so much like his dad
I can see using music during transitions, between speech. Used constantly, it becomes irritating and distracting.

Yeah, but let’s not go there right now!
The music is too loud !
