    Great vid with lots of info. Love the audio on the stone progression you can really hear the difference. Do you have to flatten out the stones you are using or do they wear pretty evenly. The diamond ones I have are dmt ones (supposedly never have to level these ones).

      No these stay pretty flat and as long as you dress them you shouldn't have to flatten them, maybe in the far future but i doubt it they are incredibly durable

    Is that just dawn and water you’re using on the stone? What’s the mixture if so? I use dish soap and water but it dries my hands out bad. I like mineral oil but it makes such a mess. By the way when you say bite, are you talking about toothiness?

    Gritomatic has a grit chart on the page for the stones you have....it might be a pop up graph. Compared to standard grits the venev say 800 is more like a 2000 grit. But it’s there to check out

      Yeah my pheonix stones had that rating the Dragons only havevthe micron on them, so i googled micron into grit, and its different than what they say, regardless its a ball park anyways and im still in the field

    Ooooh yyeahh 🤙can't go wrong with the shaman without a doubt 🔥the s30v blade steel is awsome for me as it holds a great edge @ 600 grit💯💯it just keeps on ticking haha. Also the blade geometry allows for effortless passes thru what ya cut thru for a thicker blade stock😮😆tnxs for the video, it answered a few similar issues I had. Have a awsome weekend wootwoot haha 😄🤟🤙👊🍻

      600 grt is whats on my s30v as well and its a great cutting tool, that allows you comfort and leverage in the cuts, love it, its tough and hard use without being over the top

    What brand stones were these? And what size are the stones? I'm tired of sharpening with jig systems. Moved onto the sharpmaker mostly, but would love to get good at hand sharpening.
    Thanks for the info and all the content my friend

      These are venev dragon series diamond stones, they also have the pheonix series 3×8 the dragons are thicker they are diamond infused resin

      @@NeevesKnives thanks. I ended up picking up the ultra sharp diamond plates 300, 600 1200 and 2200 3x8. I'll start there and see how it goes

    try the Cedric & Ada Gear and Outdoors edge trick - ( ua-cam.com/video/ChiFWYb7_VM/v-deo.html ) ultra course on 1 side of the bevel (100-200 grit) and polished on the other side of the bevel (5000 grit +) - u might like it - i tried it and its a bit of alright - really bitey but also very laser-ish sharp - instead of deciding on a bitey edge or a polished edge u can have both

    • @NeevesKnives
      @NeevesKnives  3 роки тому

      Id have to doit on a fixed system, i dont think i could doit freehand because the grit pattern runs opposite on other side

    • @TheCrajiboi
      @TheCrajiboi 3 роки тому

      nah u dont need to worry about the direction of the scratch pattern - just so long as 1 side of the bevel is super course and the other side is super polished

    • @NeevesKnives
      @NeevesKnives  3 роки тому

      @@TheCrajiboi il definitely try it out, ive been doing unconventional edges for a while and trying them out never for edge retention mostly for cutting performance
