    Good video!
    I been wanting to try this on my big east for some time! Kind of hard to get away from my Rectec pellet grill though! I would suggest pulling a prime rib off at 120-125 and let sit for well over 1 hour in a cooler or somewhere it does not lose heat and will continue to cook and absorb moisture back into the roast! You can always slice and cook a little longer with either hot plate and hot Aujus or put on a grill to get to your liking! But you can never go back if it’s too done!

    next time try just peeling the fat cap back, season the meat then lay the cap back on, you might have to tie it on. Besides adding flavor and moisture, the crispy fat is worth fighting for! 😎💩

    I'm smoking a 4 lb boneless right now, and it should be done in another 20 min. Thank you for your video.

    Nice! I always held my breath cooking prime rim. Nothing like the fear of screwing up a $50 piece of meat.

      mike cool The thermometer is a Redi-Chek 732. I purchased it on Amazon.com a few years ago. They probably have a new model now. It cost about 69 dollars when I got it. It’s been very reliable and still working!

    Cut the fat off???? Noooo you pay for that. What a waste. Other than that it looks good.

    Can I bake potatoes at the same time? I need a LARGE roast to feed 10 people. Do you think I can use my Charbroil Oil-less Fryer for that? If I figure a pound of meat per person, that makes a 10-pound roast. How long do you think that will take?

    • @jonrobbins_drummer
      @jonrobbins_drummer  7 років тому

      Hey Amy! You can do the baked potato's at the same time for sure! I just put some olive oil and salt on a large russet potato and wrap it in foil! It takes about an hour to cook in the big easy! Sorry to say I don't think you will get a 10 pound roast in the basket.... The 5 pound one that I cooked in this video was pretty tight in the basket... if you had the larger model called the Smoker, Roaster, Grill... it is a bigger unit and you MAY be able to fit a larger roast in there.... hmmmm.... with the accessory kit... that has the "shelf" for the basket you might be able to get 2 roasts stacked in the Big Easy.....?hope I was of some help! Thanks!

      I regularly cook 10lb boston butts in my Big Easy. It is snug but they shrink up a little during the cook and always come right out.

    • @jonrobbins_drummer
      @jonrobbins_drummer  7 років тому

      Thanks John! I'll have to give the Boston butt a try!

      We use Morton's Southwest BBQ Sea Salt Rub. Half a bottle on a roughly 10lb butt. Put it in the Big easy until temp hits right at 200, take it out and rub it down with Sonny's Sweet BBQ Sauce, wrap it in tinfoil and get it up to 210-215. Perfect taste, moisture, outside crust, everything. Just falls apart.

      You could cut the roast in half and do 2 5#'ers if you have the bunk bed basket, just use the Redi-Check 733 that allows you to keep track of 2 meats

    I bought a 15 lb. 6 bone rib eye roast. And plan to cook it in my big easy. Any advice?

    • @jonrobbins_drummer
      @jonrobbins_drummer  2 роки тому

      Hey Tammie! I wish I could be of more help but the roast you bought is 3 times the size of the one that I cooked in this video. Maybe you could cut it into 3 pieces so it fits in the Big Easy? I think with something that size I would try and use a pellet smoker, large gas grill, or even in the oven......
