Thanks for the tips! My final in Ceramics III is mixing bowls! Last college ceramics assignment ever! Going to miss unlimited access to a lab. Time to purchase some equipment!

Well, you certainly showed me that I need to practice more.
No way could I throw those three bowls with matching shapes in different sizes.
So, off to the wheel I go.

Just takes time and practice. All potters start at the same place and the ones who stick with it get better and better!

Can I ask what clay you used ? The clay looked to behave nicely and not to bad to work with , I find some clays not much fun to work with especial if there your own processed clays sometimes . Awesome bowls by the way , great job .👍

Why are there so many potters in NC?

North Carolina has a history of pottery and a long history for Appalachian art and crafts. I am assuming it is because we have so much clay in our ground. Plus mining for things like feldspar. And early potters dug their own materials unlike most of us today. There are potters that go several generations back in the area too. Art and craft in the Asheville area is really hot at present too, so this brings many new artists including potters to the area to learn and sell. All of this combined brings potters here. And for the most part, we help and support each other. This is my personal take on it. Hope this make sense. Great question. Maybe others can add to this discussion too.

With every pot you make you get a little better and learn something. I don’t have any waste on these bowls and don’t trim. Appreciate you watching! Sue
