- Another round of Hablas Espanol! Can Americans speak Spanish on the spot? This is a fun series that we have done on BYU campus over the last few months, to see if college students are able to speak in Spanish. We found that many can speak in Spanish but also in many more languages like French, Chinese, and Japanese! Check out this fun new episode of ¿Hablas español?

Should we try this somewhere else? If so where?

Brazil xddddddd

Well what about you try in another part of the American Continent, let's say Canada or Brazil. 😉
I love how you make people feel great if they only speak english , like this girl said only english and u said "ohh thats awesome, and you speak it very well too "
Exactly, speaking only one language is absoutely normal its just a nice skill to learn another one but not compulsory
Hi, I'm Latino and I'm looking for a native English speaker to practice our languages together!!!
@@soldierofchrist7343 I've been learning spainsh for the last 3 months and I've been looking for comments in spanish to practice. Its cool I could read your comment! I got everything but de hecho, so now I know another useful word thanks!
@@KevinRovertt I'm interested. I started learning spainsh 3 months ago. They temporary moved me at work and I was with Cubans who didn't speak much English. I learned so I could ask them about their country, I got to ask a few things and they taught me a little spainsh. I'm decent at writing, but only on focused topics. I'm also decent at speaking it, but I don't really understand while listening. I've been learning mostly nature topics. I don't know if the grammer is right, but for example this is a sentence that came from my head, no help from translator.
Yooo 2:10
As a French second language speaker I gotta admit it his French is so good and clear to understand
Merveilleux !!!

Crazy how some people don't even want to learn a second language, Or even want to understand 1.. It's good to know English but it's also good to understand other languages as well, Also knowing a 2nd language is good for job opportunities
Why is it important?
@@puchokoffie8152Usually people learn a new language to connect with more people than they would otherwise not be able to. Also like OP said it’s certainly a good deal when looking for job opportunities.
Hi, I'm Latino and I'm looking for a native English speaker to practice our languages together!!!
@@KevinRovertthi I’m native English speaker looking to do the same!! Do you have any social media?
Yes lol, it's very easy for us Americans to know if Spanish is being spoken. Probably because we're neighbors with Mexico. 42 million Americans speak Spanish as their first language, and 15 million speak Spanish as their second language. According to Google. Cheers!
Chi Chi Chi Le Le Le... Colo colo? So funny hahaha the people from Chile is really awesome 👏👏👏
Greetings from Chile 😀
LMAO SAME
at least many who didn't speak it at least understood which language it was
The United States has the second most Spanish speakers in the world behind our bordering country Mexico. We all have enough exposure to it to recognize it when we hear it.
Hi, I'm Latino and I'm looking for a native English speaker to practice our languages together!!!
Because Spanish is the 3rd largest language in the world in native speakers. So it is easy to recognize it. Also, is USA is the 2nd more spoken language.

@@anderarielmontoyamontoya5784 Hola querido amigo
Love this video! Surprising on how many people speak Spanish!
Nearly all of them were from Latin America, so it's not that impressive after all.

@@ger279 -dijo cometiendo abundantes errores-.
He is not a troll.. there is literally only one gringo that spoke Spanish. Also estadounidense is one word and conozco has a z not an s. I’m having doubts you can hold a conversation with someone in Spanish.
Jajaja muchos. Y el “habla” español aparentemente…
Always love these videos!
This videos should be longer!! I really enjoy this 🤣
I speak Spanish now, but I didn’t when I was in school (even though I took three years of Spanish!). That last girl was awesome. Even though I did well in class, I couldn’t say anything nor understand anything! 😂😂😂
I don't know. She said "sí" three times in a row. She didn't say anything else. She didn't even say something like "claro" (of course) or "obviamente me dirijo en esa dirección" (obviously I'm heading in that direction." I'm not saying she *couldn't* have said that but there's no real way to tell how much she knows or understood there. Pretty easy to tell he's asking a question and to understand "comer", "cafetería" and "¿Hablas español?" Those are like first month high school Spanish I.
Me gustaría tal vez algún día aprender español, pero actualmente estoy atascado con solo usar traductores. jajaja
Hi, I'm Latino and I'm looking for a native English speaker to practice our languages together!!!
Quick correction: "¿Qué es" is used to ask the meaning or definition of a word or phrase (e.g., ¿Qué es el amor para ti?). "¿Cuál es" is used to ask for 'specific' information, like "¿cuál es tu dirección?". So, it should be: "¿Cuál es tu deporte favorito?".
That's what I thought too but I had a Spanish professor correct me on this a few times. So now I'm back to having no idea how it works.
I think of the difference being similar to that of "what" and "which" in English. "What's your favorite sport?" is broader than "Which is your favorite sport." The latter sort of assumes you know what your options are
@@romuelknight1434 Mucho texto, ñ
This was great. I think you should make a part 2.
His accent is so American to be Spanish

Brilliant!
Nathan Osmond! Where did you learn to speak and understand Spanish? And why did you learn it?
This was pretty good.
have found this channel and I have loved it from the first video, I like to see how some have made an effort to speak Spanish in this language, which for any Latino is super easy and for very difficult English I really like this content.
Greetings from Chile.
Excellent diversity at BYU! Several multi-lingual students!
💀
Wait that girl who was talking in chinese had a really good accent😲😲
I appreciate how well the host has learned Spanish. He does need to work on that accent a bit though.
Also, I'm pretty confident you don't wanna be saying "¿*se* habla español? Rather it should simply be "¿habla español?" "Se habla español" is what businesses say to the public which means "Spanish is spoken (here)."
That might just be the accent he's stuck with. Not all people are good at imitating sounds. Others are phenomenal. I speak Spanish and I know my accent is very good, but I can also fool people into thinking I speak French just because I'm good at mimicking sounds. LOL
@@kansasgoldilocks then I think you and I are alike. I expect he could still get a bit better though. Certain sounds already exist in English so he can make those at least.
@@kansasgoldilocksMy theory is that people who aren’t good at that just have to listen to the language a lot more before they start speaking for it to click.
Also, when asking someone if they speak Spanish, the correct form is “¿hablas español?”
@@fivestarplaying3553 well, no. That would be in the "tú" form which one would use with someone in a casual relationship or someone who is younger. I, personally, would use the "usted" form in this context because it's more respectful and a little formal, and these are strangers, not our buddies, employees or family members.
"How are you" in more than one language. I think that would stump a looot of people.
Me encanta el video! Estudiando es siempre divertido! 😊👏👏👏
No es "¿Que es tu deporte favorito? , Es ¿Cuál es tu deporte favorito?

Just curious to anybody who doesn’t speak Spanish: does his Spanish sound normal to you or can you distinguish it as very much not a native speaker? 😂 not that he’s bad per say but definitely doesn’t have an accent down and made a few mistakes with words
Yes I’m a native English speaker and the accent could use some work but we’re all a work in progress
Tus videos me encantan
