The robotaxi will have a sub 40 kwh pack for sure. That estimate might even be too big.
Read something on X about Michelin developing a new airless tire called Uptis. Rumor is they are in talks with Tesla.

I was in Chengdu China yesterday. I took a two hour long bus ride through downtown
Chengdu. In that space, I literally saw over a hundred teslas. Sometimes, multiple ones right one after another. Quite impressive. That gave me hope for stronger Q2 numbers.
The air is so much cleaner than it was 5 years ago. EVs have made a huge difference.

Anecdotally, I ordered a Model Y 5/28 and still waiting for a VIN with predicted delivery 6/25-30. So they seem to be selling pretty well.

Given that Elon said MY refresh not happening this year and the Giga-Texas drone footage shows much fewer MY being produced there than in the past, even with CT production ramping, I don't see how Q2 deliveries are going to be good.
$TSLA: 15x in 5 + 5x in 10 = 75x in 15.
Cheapest would be for T to build the Trabant with an e motor.
I have driven FSD every day for years and it is a great driver assistance system, but it is nowhere near robotaxi.
Tesla licensing FSD . It’s not impossible that a Legacy Auto Co. Could agree to a substantial annual license fee PLUS $ per car . The payments for such a license COULD start on Signing (when the IPR know how starts to transfer) ie sometime in 2024 ?? A stretch but not impossible .

Keep in mind that the same technology they use for FSD, will be used for Optimus robots too. And Optimus will be faster and cheaper to produce than cars. Once they have perfected the vision-to-action model for the car, I expect rapid improvements on Optimus too! But probably still 1-2 years away from full production.
@@randotkatsenko5157 it will take longer than that. Autonomous robots that can do any kind of work will need something that functions like nervous system in animals. This would be particular need for the hands. Imagine a robot that picks up an egg and crushes it. Then it tries to pick up a hammer and then drops it. We are probably 15 years away from autonomous robots being deployed.

In Taxi battery should be for 500 miles so it only needs to charge once a day ... I think.
I think at most it should be 400 miles. I don't think a robotaxi would drive more than 300 miles in one day.
Most fulltime Uber drivers do 200-300 miles a day and they generate around 100k, if a robotaxi does 500 miles a day the valuation that ark is giving would be low. My back of a napkin calculation for a robotaxi driving 300 miles a day 75¢ a mile for 350 days a year and $50 of maintenance is around 60k a year for 5 years. At 500 miles a day that's 100k a year per Tesla owned robotaxi. User owned feel car would probably be 40-50% that.

Tesla has no energy!
I am keeping my investment thesis unchanged based on the earlier anticipated 50% CAGR in deliveries until 2030. But it won't be deliveries anymore that get the financials there. The AI/robotics and energy businesses will have to make up for the deliveries shortfall.
I wouldn’t have any confidence in that.

Great talk. Directionally, I think the stock will move up after deliveries supprise to the upside in early July, then up again after Q2 earnings as cost cutting will have increased automotive margins along with energy having exploded, and then up again in anticipation of 8/8… and then the stock will crash after 8/8 as investors will not have understood/believed what Tesla eill have said, lol.
Net result will be up by summer’s end from where we are today.

COG’s gains are going to help margins. Production and sales numbers will approach Q4 2023’s numbers. It’s going to be a quarter that gets Tesla back on track but no more . Energy will help earnings.

Many institutional investors still only count the car company. The stock could be triggered by those big investers as soon as the cheaper cars come out that Elon said could be out by the end of the year. If they get a $32000 car, we are at $24500 after rebate. Not a $25000 before rebate but still not bad. Could make a huge impact in sales. More people might spring for FSD if cars are that cheap. Better margins.

When the Q2 numbers come out it will be clear that CAPEX is very high, margins are suppressed, and deliveries are slightly higher than Q1/2024 but year over year will be down, which everybody will jump on. The lawsuits keep piling up and the compensation plan will remain in the courts for a few more years. There will be more opportunities to accumulate for investors but stock price appreciation will be non-existing. Don't forget that M3 will now be hit with tariffs in Europe - interest rates for leases in Europe are really bad and uncompetitive. Yes, Europeans don't see a lot of the features in the US, but more importantly, sales in Germany have collapsed in 2024 and it is still seen as the largest market in Europe.
Tesla could make the model 3 in the Berlin gigafactory. Or maybe they will make the cheaper model that’s coming out on 8/8.

Tesla does not have FSD - there is no self driving. Tesla has HSL "Highly supervised Learner" mode.
I.e. The car insists the driver is watching the road. Because the car will halt it's HSL at any moment.

For the safest robo-taxi you’ll need the fastest 0-60 for when you need to get out of dodge in record time… which would be an edge case at the end of the day but still necessary!
