    Man I love the format of yours film review. I like that it's not just showing play after play for an hour. The conversation format is so much better because it's informed by the film. And then you back up what you found by showing select plays. Kudos!

      A little nit picky on Jones timing. Offensive scheme, lack of time for plays to develop are major issues. Again I’m no Jones apologist but something has to change. I’d like to see Neal at LT not Josh

    Thanks, Dan, for your remarks about DJ not taking responsibility for the way the offense is playing. I was thinking the exact same thing. If he was a man about it he would say something like "The offense wasn't playing well. That includes me. I don't blame coach for making a change. I'll continue to work hard and do whatever I can to help this team win." Instead, DJ thinks he's entitled to the starting job because he works hard and doesn't get into trouble off the field. I think he's probably losing a lot of the locker room support that he has had in the past. Thanks again for pointing out DJ's lack of class.

      If you're going to act like every sack is on the OL and none were on the QB, not sure we'll ever come to an agreement on anything football related. This goes for every QB who will paly for the Giants from this point on and any who will play for them in the future. This goes for every QB who plays in the NFL. Every QB who plays in college. And so on.

    Everyone in the comments making excuses for DJ saying the line is the reason we can't complete a pass. Look how the defense is playing us. They are not even SLIGHTLY afraid of a ball going 15 yards down the field. Their corners came down on EVERY play without a moments hesitation. The line is not the reason for that, that's how everyone's defense has been playing us, there's a reason the only 2 games we won this season were the games we won. DJ magically put a ball in a receivers hands down the field more than 20 yards. When that happens once in a blue moon the defense is thrown for a loop cause it's not normal. This, and pretty much every other L we've taken this season, is the Daniel Jones normal. Curls, checkdowns, slants and runs. That's it. The least explosive offense in the last 2 decades.

    • @didgruntleddansnyderfan
      @didgruntleddansnyderfan Місяць тому

      Exactly. The Giants are just in general way off when it comes to offensive lines, and I've been saying it for a long time. It's all about teamwork and communication on the line. Bad O line? Fine, they need to improve communication. But singling out individuals on the, line like Giants fans have a strong tendency of doing, is just wack. Just look at the guy you just fired for an example. Bobby Johnson is presently coaching an alleged top five offensive line with the Redskins. And it's really not. It's just top five offensive line/QB communication, and is really made possible by good coaching and high awareness at the QB position. Everyone, including Daniels, is playing to help everyone around them, not just themselves.
      Giants fans pick a lineman to scapegoat that week to absolve their QB. The dynamic is all wrong. It's the communication, dummies! And that includes the QB, which I suspect is the real problem with the Giants.

    The roster clearly has holes. However, I don't understand how anyone can think a better QB would not do more with what the Giants have on offense. DJ has shown he is not capable of making guys or a bad situation better. DJ is everything you'd want in a QB, except the ability to play above the X's and O's. I strongly believe this same roster and team would be more viable with an above average QB. The QB is 1 of 11 guys. However, his play on the field can raise the level of everyone else. DJ has proven he is not capable of raising the level of play by his teammates. QB's don't grow on trees. Otherwise, each team would have one. It's CRITICAL, though, to move on quickly when you know you don't have one. I'm past ready for the DJ era to be over. And, I do wish the kid well. I believe he played the best he could. It just wasn't good enough. Go Big Blue!!

Receivers have dropped 17+ passes!!!!!! Even star Leek drops passes. He says he's open all the time. Bad attitude! Maybe Kafka should call plays again.

    • @didgruntleddansnyderfan
      @didgruntleddansnyderfan Місяць тому

      Not really. it is hard for a QB with zero deep ball accuracy and no quick game to succeed with it. But hit some deep shots and the rush will disappear, because now the defense needs to respect the passing game. That's the problem here. No one in the NFL respects Jones' arm. The offensive line can't throw the ball to solve that problem. Only Jones can.

    LOVE you guys - your passion and analysis is refreshing. Stick with it. Even though we've been sick about it! What is the opposite of complimentary football - ya know, what we play? Is it insulting football? Cause that is what the O feels like. I watch lots of other teams - they regularly and easily do plays and throws further than 10 yards. We feel like the only team in the league that can't do it.
    I have been a Giants fan since 1978. I lived through the 6 years between Simms and Collins. We had some awful QB play those years too. It was Dave Brown (did we learn nothing from our last QB from Duke?), Danny Kannell and Kent Graham - I still feel the pain.
    At this point - Why doesn't Joe Schoen try to trade for Joe FLACCO ASAP?!?! I would trade Jones, Hyatt, Eric Gray and maybe even low draft picks to get Flacco immediately! I bet he could do some good things - at least throw the ball over 10 yards and throw accurately. Maybe sign him for two years until the next Manning is available!

  • @donnakager5453

    • @didgruntleddansnyderfan
      @didgruntleddansnyderfan Місяць тому +1

      It's not luck. It's coaching. A good coaching staff can turn the present Giants offensive line into a top ten unit, no problem at all. What the Giants do instead is to pick on and scapegoat their linemen to excuse poor QB play. So that is what you have instead of good coaching. Any lineman who goes to the Giants will be trash because of this, IMO. Any lineman who goes to the Chiefs, Ravens or Commanders will go to the pro bowl instead.
      Indeed, Ereck Flowers went to the pro bowl two years after being driven out of town by the Giants. The former Giants o line coach, Bobby Johnson, is now coaching a top five offensive line in Washington. These are not miracles or coincidences. They are indictments of the Giants.

    • @johnshepard313

      @@didgruntleddansnyderfan agreed. I think the front office scouting plays a role too. It's all not good enough

    • @didgruntleddansnyderfan
      @didgruntleddansnyderfan Місяць тому

      @@johnshepard313 Maybe. I just think line play is such an integral, eclectic activity that you can't necessarily even see what makes a line good or bad. It's communication on the field, including with the QB, and coaching off it. I'm not even sure Daniel Jones understands what guards and tackles are for, and for long stretches I wasn't sure Eli Manning understood it either. They are tools for the QB, not scapegoats so we can earn more money being the starting QB.
      What I'd do if I was a Giants fan is look at the people who leave because of all this. When they systematically become good after leaving the Giants it means you're doing it wrong.

    I don't see any reason to keep putting Jones out there - we know his ceiling and unfortunately it is the ceiling in the basement. Was too low. Why not put Lock in there - sure maybe it will be worse - but let's see - at least he has a live arm. I feel like he threw more deep throws in the 4 Q than Jones in first 3Q. I know DeVito doesn't have the arm - but he seems to have the best football sense and ability to read. He also has touch and is accurate. Lets see the ceiling on these two. We don't need to see any more of what Jones can/can't do. We know it, We know it. We know it.

      Short term, sure. But that's the same short term that led you to winning three meaningless games with Danny Gabagoul last year, which led to you missing out on either Daniels or May, and one of them ended up in the NFCE as a result. Was that really worth it? Unless you think either one of the two is the answer for next season and onward, isn't it better to stick with Jones and pick a QB next year? That's the relevant comparison: Lock and deVito vs next year's draft class. Not Lock and DeVito vs Jones.
      I get wanting to win. But in some situations it just prolongs the pain. I know I was cheering very loudly for Danny DeVito last year as a Redskins fan. I still don't know why Giants fans were cheering for him.

      @didgruntleddansnyderfan Місяць тому

      Honestly listening to Giants fans when it comes to offensive lines is like listening in on space alien conversations. It's all about communication and teamwork. Get a proper coach who understands that and you could have a top ten offensive line easily with the same personnel you have now. Or maybe not. The one you fired just recently, Bobby Johnson, is presently coaching a top five offensive line down in DC with rookies and assorted castoffs. We don't scapegoat offensive linemen like you do down here, or at least most of us don't. It's a team within the team, and comunication is everything. Our line right now is top five, but it's also one of the loudest offensive lines in the NFL. All five are roaring instructions to each other. I've even sen Nick Allegretti push rookie Coleman into the right pass set to block Myles Garrett once. They help each other.
      And the QB is a part of that team within a team. Maybe that's what you're missing. Because Daniels and Mariota also help out their offensive line constantly, and make them right even when they're wrong. You just scapegoat them. I've been watching it in fascination since Eli was the QB. But we don't mind. It's like a second draft for us to grab your coaches and linemen after you're done scapegoating them to protect your QBs. Been doing that since you tarred and feathered Ereck Flowers.

    On the Locked on Giants podcast...Trey Wingo explained the problem with the putrid Giants offense, and its NOT entirely on Jones. He said the OL is GARBAGE...not even average, but complete CRAP and he puts it on Schoen. Neal and Ezeudu both are NOT tackles, never developed as what they are,,,GUARDS. The "old guy" free agents are not that good either and JMS looks more and more like another wasted draft pick. No depth...if any starter gets hurt, the whole things go to hell. Those DeVito “wins” which had me and many others totally despondent in the moment have come home to roost in devastating fashion. We beat Wash and NE back to back due to turnover luck, they end up with picks two and three….and the elite QB prospects that came with them and the Giants sit here with a disaster who makes 40 million per. Washington, in year one of a rebuild, has ROCKETED by the Giants already and the Pats, despite a shitty roster and shittier coach, clearly have an elite young talent at the most important spot. Maye or Daniels with Daboll would’ve been amazing. To add insult to injury they knew it….hence the attempt to flip a boatload of draft picks they desperately needed themselves for Maye. Of course it would’ve been worth it which is why NE said no thanks. This was our out…it was there for the taking. Just keep losing. Take the elite QB and keep your future picks. We’d have forgotten about Jones already. It was right there….then it wasn’t. Now it’s gone. There are no outs left. Nobody in the ‘25 draft that matches Caleb or Jayden or Drake…even at pick one. Maybe ‘26 but you’ve gotta be really bad and lucky. So they’ll cut Jones, stop gap it next year, and we’ll remain in the wilderness. It’s the unfortunate reality of the league that if you don’t have the guy, you’re ultimately just fucking around. Giants nearly did, but they don’t, they won’t next year either….maybe they never will.

    I'm done.
    I'm sure he's a nice guy and a hard worker, but his lack of development and inconsistency are detrimental to the team.

    Shame on everyone associated with the Giants (starting John Mara, Danny's biggest fan) for keeping Jones as the number one QB year after year after year after year after year after year. I am just stupid fan but have watched virtually every Giants game for the past 67 years. I have seen them all, from the QB's in their top 100 (YA, Conerly, Eli and Simms) down to the bottom of the barrel (goofs like Pisarcik and Guglielmi, yes Ralph G himself). Jones never passed the eye test for me from day one. So what, who cares as I stated I'm just a stupid fan. However, every so-called experts' QB rankings have had Jones in the bottom quartile much more often than not. Next generation QB stats show Jones at the very bottom most of the time. Joe Schoen said on Hard Knocks, "We're going to roll with DJ this year". I got sick to my stomach hearing that, knowing it would be yet another lost season for my beloved Gmen. Irrelevant before Halloween again! For me, the most important question a GM has to answer in the off-season each year is, "Do I have a QB on the roster that I believe can SOME DAY win a Super Bowl"? Jones, Lock and Tommy...it's disgusting, sad and borderline criminal.

    • @Matt90541

      Eli didn't pass the eyeball test either. He often looked a lot worse than Jones and was much worse than Jones early on. Eli was so bad he was seen as a joke and his teammates laughed at him in the huddle early in his career.
      Mara was right for wanting to draft Big Ben and not give up all that draft capital.
      There have been a lot of times Jones has been top 10 in categories like EPA, completion%, QBR too.

I still found the interview (I watched it) to be a little off -- him referring to him as Daboll. I think there's a disconnect. But yeah, he's allowed to think of himself as deserving of not being benched. He should believe in himself. You're right.

    People don’t appreciate how truly remedial Jones is. Daboll has to marionette his QB and script every detail to have any chance….Jones is simply incapable of running a real offense. I’d rather see Lock with a bevy of deep shots built into the game plan…hit a couple, maybe draw a DPI and play outside in once the defense adjusts. Jones making scripted, easy read, short throws is getting us literally nowhere….we talk about drops because a single mistake ruins any chance of scoring when the QB is this limited. Tyrod is a better QB, DeVito was better, more capable players become available regularly for little money like Baker and Flacco. He’s not a starting QB and never has been yet this is year 6 in bizarro world. He’s not even a bust because nobody thought he’d ever be good outside of Gettleman…..he was a third round pick they took 6th. There’s really no comp for his career. Consistently, cartoonishly overrated every step of the way. Giants fans have no idea what good QB play looks like.

    Nice job men. I’ve been thinking that when Daboll says that DJ gives the team the best chance to win, he’s not referring to this season. Perhaps what he’s actually saying is, playing DJ gives us the best chance of winning long term. By playing poorly and ensuring the highest possible draft pick which will be used to replace him. The DeVito experience last year may have spooked them. Played just well enough to ensure a worse draft pick, which one could argue was detrimental to long term winning. Just a thought.

    I think Jones is big, tough, hardworking, good team player, a good runner but he is just not a NFL QB. He just isn't. The risk/reward of playing him does not make any sense. Giants are not a playoff team contender; Jones will be cut at the end of the season so why play him and risk a huge Cap hit to 2025. Cut your losses now and sit him. The reality is each loss in the last 10 games is far more valuable than a win as it relates to future draft capitol. Play Lock and Divito, couldn't get much worse offensively.

    "Jones doesn't look deep"?? That's just wrong. Daboll is an angry micromanaging little tyrant control freak who can't design an offense, call plays, make adjustments, or coach in a way that leads men to follow or "run through a brick wall" for. I bet you could put Nabers out there alone as the only receiver and max protect to give DJ time and block for the run and they would win some of these games. Why the hell do you put 4 and 5 receivers out there when the QB only has time to get the snap and maybe go to his primary read. When have you ever seen him stand back there for 8 seconds like Prescott & Hurtz and many others have. The route concepts are horrible. The coach and his GM buddy are in over their heads and of course you all want to blame the QB again. He's never had any protection and the receivers minus Nabers are inconsistent or just horrible. We spent a 2 and a 3 on Robinson and Hyatt. We spent the 7th pick on Neal and a 3 on Ezeudu. We spent a 2 on a Center with a "high floor" and a very low ceiling who wanted to change how we snap the ball. We've spent two 4th rounders on TE's that the coach doesn't know how to use. This is a shit show and it's time to clean house and finally bring in some proven pro football people to run this once proud yet currently clueless & lost organization. If Mara is the problem we've never heard about it from any former employees. Either way, TIsch needs to take a greater role in the search for a new GM and coach and he needs to speak up when Mara does stupid shit like making COughlin fire Gilbride, firing Coughlin himself, and signing off on McAdoo's idea of "Letting Geno Smith have a series or two to see if we can ignite the offense" .... Mara would've given Barkley 20 million a year just to keep him away from the Eagles. Mara needs to let Tisch hire the new guys and just stay the fuck away from the football operations.

    Terrible QB and this scheme they have to try and run because of him has a ripple effect. Dropped balls, players getting killed every time they go to catch the ball so that is in the back of their minds. 1st read only all the other players' lack of effort cause they know they are getting the ball. 3 yard passes and striving for 15-play drives with no explosive plays, increases the injury risk. At this point call up Josh Rosen maybe him in NY is what he needs lol
