      Jet Li’s 63 and he looks older than his age.
      He looks like an old man. And isn’t really old yet.
      He’s still middle aged.
      I did research on people’s ages.
      And people that turn 65 become old.
      Jet Li is older yeah. But he’s not old yet. He’s not a senior citizen yet.
      Til he’s 65. Like Jackie Chan. John Travolta.

I'm in my 20's and i'm already thinking about shaving my head because i can't deal with the fact that i have considerably less hair than i had like 10 years ago. I'm nearly 20 years younger than Li, and studied martial arts most of my life. I was competitive in Japan from 5th grade on through college, taking home prefecture championships in kendo all three years of junior high, two years in high school and two in college. I can now barely walk two blocks without being in intense pain, and I'm not dealing with any other health issues. The toll that fighting takes on your body is serious, I've had surgery on both shoulders, both knees, steel plates keeping some of my ribs together, two wrist surgeries, and bone fragments removed from my left hand. All that and I didn't preform on Li's level, nowhere close. Li preformed a demonstration for President Nixon in the 70s fighting four opponents at once. People need to cut the guy some slack, he's going through a lot and a life of fighting, performing stunts and other martial feats has just taken it's toll. We're only mortal and time catches up with us.

      What is the point of training like that if you're just going to end up a helpless gimp in your old age
      PSA get a concealed carry permit don't be a hothead and keep to yourself.Youll avoid all of the above mentioned pain and you don't have to try to be the karate kid.
      And before someone goes on about "guns are for pussies" ect, tell that to the mass shooters and criminals of the world.Miss me with that shit.

    • @chrisdodd4014
      @chrisdodd4014 6 років тому +27

      Well I can't say I regret doing it. Would I like to have gotten the same experience without the injuries? Sure. It's not like I didn't get anything out of it either. I was able to attend one of the best private academies in Japan for free. I was able to go to college for free at Toudai no less.
      It's not just about self defense. If it were, guns would be the way to go for sure. They're easy to pick up and learn, even giving children the ability to kill trained soldiers. You can kill at range, there are a lot of advantages. When I returned to the US for grad school I worked part time in a pawn shop and carried a gun. Dunno why you even brought guns up, as that's not what we're talking about. We were talking about a martial arts icon who's struggling with health issues, but I suppose you felt the need to make a political point.
      My dad was in the Navy, stationed at Ogasawara. I was an American Army brat who was trying to fit into Japanese schools when I was a kid. I started studying martial arts to defend myself, and to interact with other kids my age outside of school. Then it became a passion that I didn't want to let go of. Once I started competing, weather I won or lost I was always able to take something away from it. Victory meant I got a rush like I'd never experienced before, and defeat pushed me to learn more about my shortcomings, develop and learn new strategies, cover my weaknesses while leveraging my strengths. It's just like anything else you have such a passion for. You always strive to be better. Studying swordplay was a big portion of my life for a lot of years, still is despite not being fit to compete. I still exercise and practice every day both before and after work.

      He wouldn't fight you. He's never once used his skills at least as a grown up in a street fight. He's a Buddhist, and basically a pacifist that believes in love and charity. He would just walk away and likely block anything anyone threw at him. He is a super nice guy.

      He is not American that’s why, in USA a 55 year old is sometimes not even able to walk on his own while in other countries like South America or Asia 55 year olds are healthier and can work until they are 80, this is all about the food and exercise while in USA is usually normal eating junk food and watching tv in other countries there’s more fresh food and daily unnoticed workouts like walking.

      On a related note, the REACT channel has a video titled "Do College Kids Know 80s Action Movies?". After being shown the poster for The Terminator, one of the reactors said the following: "What? This is Arnold Schwarzenegger..... the governor. I don't know this movie, and I didn't know he acted." "KIss Of The Dragon" from 2001 is my favourite, it is a French action thriller set in Paris, Luc Besson had a hand in the screenplay based on a story by Jet Li, international cast all speaking in English, Jet Li in the starring role dressed in black, he is like James Bond with special martial arts skills, Jet LI wanted to do more realistic fight scenes without cgi and flying wires, he totally succeeded , it is tremendous.

    You know, I grew up with so many recognizable action star heroes.
    Sly Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jet Li, Jackie Chan, Bruce Willis, and more.
    There really hasn't been anyone to replace them. The closest thing to replacements we have are the avengers actors like Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pratt, etc but they are more of half-serious half-comedy and silly-style action movies. They never portray characters in a real world setting. I can't even name an actor that does to be honest. All modern action movies have to be forcibly injected with silliness and inappropriate/unrealistic humor.

    • @jolourdesalcinor4180
      @jolourdesalcinor4180 2 роки тому +1

      I would not count the avengers as that. They are comic book movies. Yes, American cinema are not making the kind of action movies we grew up with. For martial arts movies watch Chinese, Indonesian, or other asian countries that that has martial art movies.

    I think he's like a very humble guy who is very skilled in martial arts. O_o; NOT all Asians have the youth discount. It's all depending on family genes

      Julia L ite obviously a stereo type that most of us believe!!! The way you age comes down to genetics,stress,drinking alot of water,watching what you eat and staying away from drugs and alchohol!! But if your a straight Male and married to a woman...YOURE FUKD!!!

    • @julial3758
      @julial3758 6 років тому

      yeah, mainly genetics. I've seen some pretty young looking Caucasian boys and girls alike. One girl was a bartender, so assuming she doesn't get much sleep she probably just has good genes.

      you are right. Li is very very very humble and talks like a kid with other people. Li also established charitable fund which benefit a lot of people and many people donate money to this fun, because this fund works very offcially and we all believe in Jet li. By the way, Jet li is the real kongfu master and he knows almost all about Kongfu.

    A lot of Asian people look 20 until their 50. Then they look 80. Not racism it is just an observation

      Lochlann Hannon it’s true, I always tell people that when they say I look so young for my age that it’s all gonna catch up to me once I’m 50.

    • @genericign
      @genericign 6 років тому +4

      I'd say 60s based on observation, not 50s. My parents are both in late 50s and haven't hit he age wall yet.

      Satan if its not offensive it's not racist. Its definitely stereotyping and will fully admit that this does not apply to everyone. Its just something I noticed

    I suspect that his fans worry for him. The admiration and love they hold for him causes the outpouring of concern and fear for his well being. It's like when John Wayne fans found out he was ill. So many prayed for his recovery. We don't like seeing our movie heroes sick and in danger.

      George One week before The Duke died he was on TV and my dad said, "Damn, he looks like my brother just before he died of Cancer. I think he ain't long for this world.". I was driving down the highway a week later and heard on the news that he had died. I almost pulled the car over, it was like your grandpa died. So sad, I think it took me three days to really accept it.

    I can see a lot of people are ignorant about Jet Li. He was not even sick and old when this photo was taken. He just happened to have his head shaved, and it's the angle and the lighting of the photo that made him looked old and frail. Yes there are signs of aging on his face but come on, everyone gets old. I'd rather he ages naturally than goes for botox, plastic surgery etc that make one's face looks fake and frozen. He is a legend and no matter how he looks like, he still has my love and respect. My hero forever!
