    The monotonous, deadpan narration is just perfect. You're obviously into it, but couldn't sound more bored in the project. Very nice job.

    Very nice build!
    I too am building one, and using a steel tractor seat, (with custom pad and backrest) and a 125cc manual 4-sp engine (didn't come with electric start! Boo!) and I am also mounting the engine in the front frame, BUT, I am also mounting a 212cc Predator engine in the rear for a booster engine (when necessary) as this Trike will be a country back roads traveler, and will have larger trear wheels like a 4-wheeler in the back, and a large chopper style front multi-spoke wheel in the front! Yea OK so it's a kids Big Wheel on steroids! But hey I'm a 68 yr old kid, so what do ya expect! Vrooom-Vrooom-Vrooooom! Jus practicin'!

      Bom dia,
      Estou montando um para dois lugares, para passear com minha filha.
      Gostaria da sua opinião, nesse caso é melhor por o motor na frente do quadro ou na traseira.

    I love the fact it was a Father and Son project !! Neither of you will ever forget that quality time together.
    You did a good job Building it and it looks like it was a lot of fun to ride. I’m proud of you. I’m curious to know a total price of the project and I would like to know what brand of motor and wheels (parts breakdown) and where you purchased them at, I would like to duplicate the build with my son.

    • @balabay77
      @balabay77  6 років тому +1

      Hi Mark
      Indeed, it was a lot of fun building this project with my kid and I hope that in retrospect he will appreciate all the quality time we spent together on all of our builds. This particular drift trike came out really cheap for us because we owned a pit bike and a go kart. Yanked the motor from the pit bike and stole the axle with wheels from the go kart just to make this project. After we had our fun with this trike, we disassembled it and installed everything back on the pit bike and go kart. Things that we had to purchase are piping for the frame, seat, front tire, gas tank and exhaust pipe. Roughly speaking we spent around 200 for entire thing (not including child labor lol)
      To build something like this from scratch you’re looking to spend anywhere between $800 to $1500 depending on how fancy you want to make this thing. To be honest with you go karts are so much better in every category than this trike. Good luck with your project and let us know how it turns out.
      BTW engine we used is a 125cc SSR fully auto. Cheers.

      Sweet spots as in good places to ride a go kart or trike?
      We usually use google maps satellite view to scope out sweet spots to ride. I’m sure you’ll find empty parking lots in your area. Good luck.

      @byronj.guevaralopez3515 6 років тому

      LOL no sorry, should have been more specific. On minute 03:01 I believe you say "I found a sweet spot for the wheel" or maybe it was ''a swing spot'' for the wheel. Which I am assuming it has something to do with the balance of the wheel or its rotation? Again when you found a ''sweet spot'' and welded the hangers to the frame on minute 05:17; Im thinking its what you meant for the distance between the hangers and the engine. Thank you for the Reply.

    great video. What did your rake angle come out to if you don't mind me asking.

    • @balabay77
      @balabay77  5 років тому

      Hello Brian B
      I really don’t know what my rake angle was because I didn’t measure it but my goal was to get the front wheel as close to the frame as possible without rubbing on the frame. Our previous trike rake angle was awkward and the front wheel was sticking out too far so this time I made it much closer to the frame. If you’re planning on installing pegs on the front wheel than you’ll need to play it by ear. Good luck

    Nice job I like it so much. Just Charing my point of view needs to stretch the leg handles a bit and some additional security to the chain close to the hand brake. The front wheel sounds a bit huge compared to the size of the project, but this is my point of view nothing else. Congratulations

    have you tried it without the sleeves on the rear wheels? the weight/ body position/ wide axle etc should allow drifting even with bare tyres? im thinking of building on with a front hub motor or designing a front wheel (shaft) drive system to avoid mangling your legs in the chain- this would allow drift 'sleeves' on the rear but perfect drive from the front rubber tyre

    • @balabay77
      @balabay77  7 років тому

      Yes we tried without the sleeves and it doesn't drift at all. it will only drift without the sleeves if the speed was over 30 miles per hour but that would be unsafe to drift. As far as the chain goes, the legs are nowhere near the chain so theres no way they can get mangled unless deliberately inserted. When you get done with your trike send us a link, would love to check it out. Cheers mate.

    Need to add a full chain guard. That hand brake near the chain is kinda dangerous.

      Chain guard is a must have, as important as the helmet. Know a guy that mangled his thumb in a chain/sprocket accident. Saw a girl get her long hair in an axle on a go-kart.Not pretty
