Blame Silver, Lebron. Also Steph unknowingly turned the league into a one trick pony which he's the greatest at. Mix in sensitive refs and inflated contracts. There's your issue in a nutshell
@@JJ_5289yep as a huge lakers fan growing up with Kobe I haven’t watched near the same amount of nba since. Players don’t care about reg season so I don’t care as much either and will only watch lakers games in reg season now(and usually second half) and will watch playoffs when players care. I know many others I grew up with who were die hards but now who don’t really watch at all. It’s a shame
Does the fan vote still choose the All-Star starters? If certain players don't try at all in an AS game, then the fans should vote for other players the next year.
The problems with the nba can be wrapped up in one player. Joel embiid. Before the season started, he said he isn’t playing back to back. He should be averaging 40 points a game. Yet on fast break, he’ll stop and shoot a three. Despite being 7ft and 300+lbs, he crumbles if you breathe on him.
It's layered. Guys make too much money now to care, and they all grew up with each other in AAU. Social media is an issue too because no one wants to look bad or hurt their brand against another top guy (dunk contest issue) It's certainly disappointing as these guys absolutely play harder in offseason open gym runs for some reason.
the kobe, garnett, duncan, iverson, dirk era of star players also made huge money, but that did not stop them from competing hard every night. I believe garnetts first big contract was the biggest contract in nba history at the time, and who played harder than him? That personal competitive pride is almost gone now and i dong think that was related to the money. I think that is more related to the aau culture as you said
@@MrBimirud i think the owners have their hands tied on whole rest/load management issue. Especially in small markets. If you dont have any top 15-20 level players on your roster its very hard to be relevant in the nba. At the same time a star player can force their way off a team with basically no reprucussions. So when they have talent they do whatever they can to keep them happy and retain them. Even if its resting them for a back to back game and pissing off the fans who bought tickets
The reason MJ is the GOAT is that he played sick, hungover or with broken body parts. Today, if a player sneezes, they want to sit out or worse the GM wants to sit the player.
AAU gang (Gen Z) killed the NBA as a whole including the all star game

The NBA died when Kobe, Tim, and Kevin retired in 2016
@@kevinhorry4182 that was the last generation of true competitors in the nba in my opinion

Yup and coincidentally Durant joined the warriors that year, making the next three years meaningless to watch

Owners and GMs are laughing. They're the ones telling players to go easy, knowing the media + fans will blame the players every time

Most players bet a bonus if they make the all star team. Have the clause say they don't get the bonus if their team loses.

Just cancel the game
