My mother was raised in upstate New York before she moved to North Carolina when she was 12 years old. Her grandmother was from Ireland and would always serve tea to her from a teapot that came from Ireland (my mom thinks it may have belonged to Grandma's Grandmother, and unfortunately we don't know who got the teapot after she passed away. I just hope that it's with someone who is enjoying it's beauty and understands how much joy it brought to a grandmother and her granddaughter.) My mom, after she had me and my sister, passed on a love of tea, and I cannot tell you how much I've loved sharing this with my husband and my mother in law over the years. ❣️ Thank you again for your channel and all you do for sharing this beautiful country with us!!
Wow, I have never seen tea being sold in such huge bags like that in the grocery store before! I have only seen coffee in bags like that here in the US! Also, I have never heard rap music being played at a grocery store before.
Since I was young my mother was preparing early breakfast at 6am including falafel 🧆 and beans and tea we used to begin our day with it when we had lunch and when lovely friends came to visit us we had tea ,in Egypt 🇪🇬 it's mostly popular drink amongst all people ,for me l loved it at afternoon with sandwiches with cheese 🧀 and potatoes or pizza 🍕 every day after along busy day to have special time watching sunset 🌅 in my balcony
Thank you for explaining the tea types, now I know what type of tea I bought last year in Turkey! I would like to see a video on Turkish cheeses, comparing them to similar Western Europe/English cheeses and also a video about the various jams, preserves and molasses usually found on the large kahvalti buffets at hotels. Your video on pumpkin preserve finally solved the riddle for me - they sometimes had that at hotel buffets, and I thought it similar to what we have in South Africa, but I could taste that it was not made from African melon. Never guessed it was pumpkin! 🌷
Thank you very much explaining the different teas and different brewing methods. I drink all types of teas from different areas. Thank you for sharing your culture, etc. Dolores
Aysenur very good combination is mixing tomurcuk and regular black turkish tea 50/50. It gives the best result! I was in Turkey long time ago and now I am glad to feel again that unforgetable taste! Thank you for your advices! Greetings from Bulgaria Aysenur.
Thank you for a lovely video about Turkish teas. It was very informative. I liked how you were so precise in measuring the teas and water. I found that very helpful. I was just in Turkey two weeks ago where I visited Istanbul and Kas. I brought a 1 kg bag of the Filiz tea back with me. Yesterday I received my Turkish tea pots and I look forward to preparing Turkish tea and thinking about the good time I had in your country.
I started experimenting on tea and several mix since 2012... The first time I went to a tea shop and found about 5 to 6 different masala chai... Gave me a new perspective of using tea as healing medicine... There was a herb I had to make which was sensitive if anyone evil came in contact and had to be preserved right... So out of the 2 steps I cut down the 2nd bit and started using it in tea....
I was happy to hear that you liked the Cay Cicegi from Caykur. That is the one I drink! I really love Turkish tea for its milder, sweeter flavor and beautiful reddish color. Here is the US, the international store near me only carries a few varieties of the Caykur brand. I can’t wait to try the Filiz one next.
Thank you sister for taking your time I'm going to the shop to show the varieties of tea that you'll have in your country much appreciate it you have a nice day and I will try the tea thank you
I use the rize turkish cay that I get at my local halal store called caravan. I love it!! It is the best 4 me. I also like the earl grey. I learned 2 drink tea in libya at age 7. So I always like my tea very dark & very sweet & very hot.😁🦉☕👍
Would you believe that Germany has a particular expansive tea(Tee) and Coffee culture. I was very surprised when I first was introduced to it in Bremen, northern Germany. It is quite beautiful, really.
Sister I just found that tea in black package Caykur Altinbas from our Canada halal store. It was so nice medium and good taste. well I bought the Turkish double kettle too by Korkmaz. Now I am planning to try Turkish coffee too. waiting for my copper pot . Thanks
I feel very fortunate. A corner grocery near my house has as customers many foreign students from the Middle East, South Asia and Turkey and carries at least 3 of the Çaykur teas, as well as Ahmad tea, originally from Iran, but now from the UK. They also have tea from Sadaf, an import company in Los Angeles, which has teas in a variety of styles, such as cardamom flavored tea. I notice that tea with bergamot is popular with many different peoples, each having small variations, some adding more citrusy flavor, others liking softer flavors (using UK Earl Grey as the central point). I love teas from all over and am grateful for this vlog!
I love watching your videos🤩so I've decided to buy the turkish traditional tea glasses and make myself thsi lovely Turkish tea. And breakfast too, of course.
Hello from Canada. I have been learning about teas and how to make them from around the world. I am so happy to find you in Turkey. I enjoyed your video! Thank you so much for welling us into your kitchen! I will continue to watch and learn. ☺️
I’m iranian & we drink do ghazals (2 ghazals) which tases really good plus we add some cardamon or rose water( Golaab) or cinnamon sticks which gives the tea a great aroma & tases👍☕️
Thank you for sharing! I couldn’t remember the brand of tea I brought home from Turkey over a decade ago; but after seeing the grocery store, I think it was the Rize variety. I don’t think I’ve been brewing it long enough! Most black teas in the US say to steep for only 5 minutes! InshaAllah I’ll try steeping longer next time I serve pide & çay. Btw, one of my children is also named Ayshenur!
Turkish tea should be brewed for 20 minutes. It is not possible to drink it in less time because all the aromas have not transferred to the water, the tea is still light in color and you cannot taste any taste. Since most other teas are chemically processed and given artificial flavors, the time does not matter. A few minutes is enough for the food coloring and artificial flavor to pass into the water. The mixing ratio of tea leaves and water is very important when making Turkish tea. We used to use copper teapots and samovars and wood fires, but they are not used much anymore. Copper makes the taste of tea more intense. In the past, there were people in my city who brought and sold special spring water just to brew tea. The only natural spring water we use for tea. But unfortunately, rapid urbanization and globalization in the last 20-30 years have destroyed much of our culture.
I enjoyed it soooooo much You're such an honest person thank you for that. I bought caykur tiryaki( not sure of the spelling ) when I've been to Istanbul last year actually a shopkeeper adviced us to, he said it's the best in Turkey . ... thanks again for this informative video
I don't know where else in the world sells tea like this. The size is huge and so many varieties, very very lovely. Will buy more next time when I go Turkey.
Thank you for providing the actual measurements. I know in real life you just do it by eye because you know how to really cook. It was entertaining watching you figure out what quantities you really put into your tea.
Series on different types of peynir with their english names please.. there are tons of peynir/cheese in turkey so it is very hard to identify which is called what because we are used to english names.. so grateful for your hard work and effort on this video.. keep it up👍 ❤️ iyi akşamlar
Thankyou for this video. I brought some Turkish tea a couple of years ago but I worried about the pesticides and chemicals used on the plants. And of course, there are no big Turkish Supermarkets where I live. Lipton teas, the Earl Gray tea and the tea type Ceylon, is part of the English tea culture. Earl grey is specific because of it being aromatisiert with oil of Bergamot. Maybe with Amazon things will be easier.
Assalamu alaykum Ayşenur. Thanks for the lovely demonstration of how to make the tea. I love Turkish tea and here in Johannesburg (SA),I only buy the Filiz tea mix with a half teaspoon of OFCHAY -ŞAHANE and it's so delicious. Your breakfast table and the view is breathtaking. I had the same breakfast last Sunday at my most favorite restaurant called Galata and last night a Doner from TURKISH KEBAB HOUSE not far from my place. We are so fortunate to have a bakery/deli/butcher/restaurant here in Johannesburg. Keep up the most beautiful videos and please post more Çok tesekkur edirim.

Wow! So many brands of tea, and in such large quantities! I've never seen any tea bagged in 1 kilo bags in my life! That shop is Heaven! In my part of the world I have to buy it either in 200-250 grams bags, or in bulk, and the latter lets you buy as much as you want or as much as you need. Oh, but I LOVE those big bags of tea you have there!
I've heared about blue tea, it has another name. it is made of a blue flower called butterfly .... İnşallah l'll visit çay center near Aminönü where i heared they serve it
Salaam Ayse! Ok I have so many questions! Can you try Filiz tea, and the other teas that you showed from the Black Sea region, in a vlog for us? Also do you drink tea with or without sugar? So when you say the tea is sweet you are judging the actual taste of the tea leaves? Lastly, tea in Turkey seems like how coffee is here in the U.S., meaning everyone drinks it. Do most people drink more tea than coffee in Turkey? Thanks as always Ayse!
I always like the view from your breakfast nook - so dramatic! The tea selection at your store is a little overwhelming, but very good prices. Lipton is the No. 1 brand in the U.S. they market themselves as the "brisk" tea, although it tastes pretty mild to me. *I wish you and your family would do a taste test with Lipton vs Caykur Filiz next* It would be interesting to see the two No. 1 brands compared to each other. I'm going to buy some Caykur Feliz online so I can sample ☺. I usually use a strong black tea that comes with dried flowers mixed in to give a natural sweetness.
Hi Marcel thank you. That is a good idea for that two brand :) Hopefully I can if more people would be interested to watch this kind of videos. What flowers do they mix usually? Sound interesting and great
@@TFT Hi! they use calendula petals, safflower petals, cornflower petals, rose petals. It's called Tropicana: this is not a brand, but a specific blend made by many tea merchants. It's easy to find online.
Brisk as a description of tea, according to the tea industry site in the US, means "Describes a live taste as opposed to flat or soft." So it is not a specific taste description, but can help distinguish, for example, many Ceylon teas, brisk, from most Darjeeling, softer.

It was so nice to finally understand the turkish chai taste, and brands and blends. Thanks for sharing. And keep uploading new videos. It is always fun to watch your vlogs
That was a great video! I love the Filiz! Thanks so much for such lovely videos! It would be fun to see many more like this. Maybe different types of cheese, olives? 🌸💕💕
I had no idea there were so many different types of tea and the only real difference between them is the age of the leaves when picked! Very interesting. Do Turkish people only drink black tea or do they drink green tea too?
Black tea and during all day and in the evenings at every chance and not only a cup but teapot full, cups has to be thin glass, tea is drinkable when only scorching hot when it is warm it is considered cold and thats undrinkable
Very interesting and inspiring sister. In fact, I have just purchased the *Çaykur Rize Turist Çayı* (as I'm a beginner), which brings me to my question: When opening the packet... is it necessary to remove the small dust/dirt-like pieces with a strainer and washing the remaining loose tea before brewing them (or before you put them in a container)? Or are we allowed to use the tea straight from the packet? 🤔 Because different people tell me different things, which has left me so confused. 😭 So I would REALLY appreciate your response. Teşekkür ederim. 🙏🏼 ❤

Hello, Aysenur, first of all, I want to thank you for these amaizing videos, I love and watch all of them! I want to thank you for showing us your country and all the beauty of it! I am coming to Istanbul, and I wanted to ask you if you could tell us where is that supermarket, and where is the best place to buy tea, and tea glass set, and also, l would love to buy a coffee cup set (filcan, I think you call it like that), and that teapot, so my question to you is, where is that supermarket, and where is the best place to buy all these things that I mentioned, for a good and affordable price? Thank you again 🤗😀☺️❤️
This is yet another interesting video! When I am able to travel to Turkey again, I will make sure to check out the markets for tea as well. They only have one kind of Turkish tea where I live, so I look forward to have more choices. 😁
Great video, I love trying new tea brands and types, too! Will look for the Filiz type tea next time I visit a Turkish supermarket here in Berlin. Also, your breakfast table and the view look lovely! 😍 Best wishes to you and your family
I just got the Cicegi this week as it was not available in my country. I tried turkish tea in Grand Bazaar 8 years ago with menemen and I am not sure what type it was but it was sweet with minimal sugar. Cicegi needs more sugar because it's brisk and stronger. Maybe will try Filiz or turist next time. What will you recommend for breakfast?
Ayşenur, great video! I really enjoyed it and loved learning more about Turkish tea brands. I have an unrelated question: where did you buy your cast iron pans?
the Turkish supermarket where I buy my stuff from has Caykur brand and they have filiz and Altinbas Klasik so I am going to try both 1 by 1. As always, your video was really informative and I will be able to choose the right product to experience and enjoy the Turkish flavour :)

We actually never use milk in tea in Turkey, it’s really not common.
Very helpful video, thanks! There is a Turkish grocery store near us, with a large selection of teas. (Also coffees.) I've been eager to try some of them, but haven't been sure where to start! Good to find more information about common varieties.
Thanks so much for this very interesting video. All those packages of tea look very appealing.
I am glad you did this video, I wanted to try the tea but I was not sure which one to try. Now I can try! Thank you!
Hope you like it!
When i visited Istanbul i went to many restaurants they had same taste black tea taste, the question is what type of black tea served in turkish restaurants?
It was so nice to finally understand the turkish chai taste, and brands and blends. Thanks for sharing. And keep uploading new videos. It is always fun to watch your vlogs
That was a great video! I love the Filiz! Thanks so much for such lovely videos! It would be fun to see many more like this. Maybe different types of cheese, olives? 🌸💕💕
I love Çaykur.. Use to drink that in Turkey .. But I did not knew it has so many flavours.
Thank you for sharing a bit of Turkey which I hope to visit someday
Thank you for this very helpful content!
You're very welcome!
@@Coco_au that's really interesting, thanks!
I love tea. Thank you for showing us your brands :) I like bergamot too :) Your breakfast looks delicious.
I love tea, I will look for the brand in Amazon.
Very interesting and inspiring sister. In fact, I have just purchased the *Çaykur Rize Turist Çayı* (as I'm a beginner), which brings me to my question:
When opening the packet... is it necessary to remove the small dust/dirt-like pieces with a strainer and washing the remaining loose tea before brewing them (or before you put them in a container)?
Or are we allowed to use the tea straight from the packet? 🤔
Because different people tell me different things, which has left me so confused. 😭
So I would REALLY appreciate your response. Teşekkür ederim. 🙏🏼 ❤
I also love the Lazika çay from Rize! Very nice video 👏☺️
My first glass of Turkish tea was Ofçay Efsane, I loved it, and still do.
Enjoy!

Masha’Allah so much variety of teas
I bought the large bags of Tourist cay as I don’t like my tea week a little. Thank you Aisha 🥰
This is yet another interesting video! When I am able to travel to Turkey again, I will make sure to check out the markets for tea as well. They only have one kind of Turkish tea where I live, so I look forward to have more choices. 😁
Hi sister Aysenur. What is the difference in taste between the Caykur Black tea and organic black tea?
I like your channel, very much. Shopping and cooking so relaxing. I like to learn about your country from what you see and do.
Thank you so much
I love Turkish coffee too☕️
Turkish tea making method is amazing .
Salaam ayeshe love your hard work and effort for give us detailed information about Turkish tea shukriya sis I like that type of blog ❤👍
Great video, I love trying new tea brands and types, too! Will look for the Filiz type tea next time I visit a Turkish supermarket here in Berlin. Also, your breakfast table and the view look lovely! 😍 Best wishes to you and your family
Thank you!
Can you please do one video for turkish coffee too.😘i loved watching your videos here in england.
Great video! I would love to see more like it!
Can you please tell me what is the herb use in the Turkish tea?
the Turkish supermarket where I buy my stuff from has Caykur brand and they have filiz and Altinbas Klasik so I am going to try both 1 by 1. As always, your video was really informative and I will be able to choose the right product to experience and enjoy the Turkish flavour :)
My mum sometimes mixes those two types, stores and uses as a mix version, Just a tip
When will you add sugar to the tea what about the pomegranate tea or other herbal do you people use them as well
Hi! Thanks for the video, hope the breakfast tasted good :). Turkish tea generally tastes very good. You have to give the tea some time when you cook it ...
Your welcome 😊 thanks too
I was in Istanbul last week. I see that prices of tea have risen now !
Thank you for this video . When I go to my local Mediterranean of Indian shops I don't know what I'm looking at when it comes to teas .. so this is helpful! is there herbal teas you would recommend ?
My pleasure! We don't have special mix of herbal tea
Assalamualakum
