  • This week it's time to say goodbye to the UK and head to France. Also this week we installed a Dometic CK2000 12V cooker hood to deal with the smell and grease from cooking.

I remember you were a bit nervous about how the channel will be developing since you two left Denmark. First, this audience will not be "bored" by DIY stuff, which 100K+ subscribers show. Your aerial photography of the Needels was stunning, and Ava's character adds so much to the channel's future. Cheers.

Thank you so much 🙂 I still have brief moments where I'm afraid nobody wants to watch the videos once we can't do so much DIY so that's really nice to hear 🙂

Well I'm enjoying most of the DIY stuff. This is why I watch such channels. Like Ladi & Margaret, sailing Uma etc. The videos of only trips aren't that interesting to me, but if there's a mix of DIY and vlogging, this is what I, who came for DIY, would enjoy most.

I figured out a way that you could have extended your visas for the UK. All you had to do was go to France and then cross the Channel in an inflatable to England. You would have been provided with accommodation, food and spending money.

Hey folks! My name is Jeroen Henny I'm a great fan of your videos. I'm on my way to Ireland with my campervan and I am taking the ferry this evening. I'm in Cherbourg marina at the moment having a coffee in the shet LA bacouette! The ferry leaves at 21.00 so I have a few hours to kill! I don't if you have the time for a short meeting? Being here in Cherbourg I thought it was a chance to good to miss! I wish you a nice day greetings from Jeroen Henny!

A lovely view of the Needles in the early morning, a peaceful crossing, a unFrench bureaucracy free arrival. A neat cooker hood, using lids and some ventilation may help too. You can get separate glass pan lids online, I find they are great for seeing what's going on without removing a solid lid.

Welcome to our dear country, France, indeed Cherbourg (and not sherberg in the translation...!!) is the closest to where you were to arrive in France. the installation of this hood is superb indeed, that progress and not very noisy. for the windlass there are remote controls that work well, I installed one on my old sailboat... good luck and enjoy your visit to our dear country, take the opportunity to go and see Mont-Saint Michel, it's not very away... best regards, Vincent in southern Bretagne (Vannes)

Even here in the Baltics in hot summer days my opening portlights are very much appreciated for fresh air to pass through the salon.

Glad that you had a safe and smooth sail to France. Still immensely enjoying the videos which are a combination of the DIY, sailing and touring. Ava is a pro and adds a lot to your videos, so the two of you are doing a great job and I am sailing along with you through my pc and iPad. This is something I dreamed of doing when I was younger, but because of several eardrum ruptures, I experience seasickness. I found that Meclizine and the patches help me with the seasickness but my wife did not want to go sailing, so that was the end of that venture. So I wish you always to have fair winds and following seas to keep the adventure going.

Congratulations on making the crossing. A month in Cherborg hmmm a fine place and all that but you have so much to discover nearby. The channel islands are amazing and prepare yourself for sailing into St Malo, I will always remember the first time as they say... So many beautiful places just around the corner. You may not find an Aldi but I don't think that will be on your mind. Take care to plan your passages though as the tides are beastly. Also mentally prepare yourself for "overalls" they can be very unnerving if you don't know what to expect. Just don't try to turn around to get out of them and trust that your boat is strong and won't break apart.
