Flair you may want to make a central vacuum area so when you do any cutting you can just sweep it all over to one spot and have it removed. Looking forward to all the great stuff to come. Been watching for a long time and really happy for your family.
Great shop .. you will fill it up fast !! It’s going to be so cool . The bathroom should be close to your main entrance door so if you come in with dirty hands you don’t have to walk the whole shop just to wash up ! Or maybe a big laundry sink for washing up not just in the sink in the bathroom . Just my suggestion. Your idea of the loft sounds good ! 🔥🔥
Floor Drains. When we built our new fire station several years ago, which is also a metal building like yours we stalled one long drain the length of the building in the middle of the floor. Washing trucks inside became much easier and all the water would run to the drain. Drain is about 8" wide and has a grating on top that is flush with the floor. Great looking building!!
You gotta do a video of setting up the animal stuff as well, the fence, barn (if your building one), and bringing the animals over. Those are the ones I'm looking most forward to
Adding a service door on the backside of your barn to the back lean to (back porch) is a game changer for when it’s raining and coming to and from those farm implements without having to walk around
The Treehouse Masters will get you the treehouse you need. Love the content 🔥 and I’m wishing you the best of luck with moving Ralph to your new house.
Make sure you have in-wall supply line shut offs with easy access incase you have a lean and the main shut off is buried under snow. Where you decide to have the bathroom build a double wall or a small chase for your plumbing that way it can be on an exterior wall and you wont have to worry about freezing due to the spray insulation and have them pre-insulate all the water lines. Put a hose bib on all 4 corners so you can have water access regardless of where you are. Add blocking anywhere there’s a potential to mount stuff on walls. Have them hold down your floor drains 3/8” from TOC, trowel the concrete around it 12” and add a trim piece around them. Get some 1-1/4”-2” ug conduit and run it from bay to bay on both sides for potential electrical upgrades. In the soffits look into jellyfish lighting, might like it. Since you’ll already have a toilet downstairs might as well put a half bath in the loft if you plan to spend time up there. Hope this helps!
@FLAIR, Bro you are killing it, absolutely live this its very similar to whats being done at my brother in laws house this summer, just on a smaller scale. Now hes a master mechanic opening his own shop but these are a handful of ideas we talked about that may help you. Have you thought about building above the roof truss and put a platform there. Its already framed and you would just have to put the platform down and you could literally build one the entire garage if you wanted over time. Thats what my brother in law is considering. List: Bathroom 2 piece Refrigerator for water, soda, gatorade etc Trash cans Sitting are out of the elements Some kind of heating/cooling be it a wood stove or some ceiling fans or raised exhaust fans on the side walls to vent out. Designated area for charging tools and everything electric. Also make sure you have tons of outlets everywhere, also designate a place for the electrical panel. You might also want more outlets where you see yourself chargin your power tools. With outlets you may want some on the ceiling and I say this because that way you can put power cords on a pulley and when you want to plug your boat in etc, you arent tripping over cords. Also if you need more light you can again hook into this and pull it where you need it, and cords are hazards. Stairs- make them wider then you would normally. For the design we are starting on the back wall, and "L" them up towards the man door against the wall the entire way; that way you maximize the space and you can put your bathroom under the stairs, along with storage for brooms, trash cans, a drop zone for coats and a little sitting area. A pulley system/hoist(elevaror), my bro in law is using it for engines etc but you could use this to bring stuff upstairs without having to carry it up the actual stairs. Basically repeat what you are doing in your house in the garage. You can use to to move stuff or use a pulley system to remove engines, hold kayaks, bikes etc etc. We are putting in 2 Large truck lifts as like i said hes a mechanic and who would want to crawl under a vehicle. Id toss your fishing gear upstairs on the catwalk/platform as its light but also its easy to bring down especailly with the pulley elevator/hoist system. You could do the same with your hunting stuff and have the upstairs all your outdoor gear and stuff that way its out of the way and kept all together and neat and you can see exactly what you have. Pegboard is awesome for tools, dont forget to layout all your tool boxes and any workstations/tables you might need, along with any big saws etc. Dont forget a space for ladders, and even spare wood scraps. You may want to invest in a flammable cabinets to keep all your flammable materials in your paint, oils, fliuds etc. Also a few extinguishers. Now get ones rated for what you will have in your garage, not all extinguishers are for every type of fire and place them on the walls around the shop. You may want an eyewash area, and a first aid kit. Along with some fire alarms/smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector etc etc etc. Anyways these are just a few of our ideas, hope it helps. It already looks fantastic and you will have to give us a full tour once you have everything in it.
You know it’s gonna be a great dinner when you have a half hour episode with flair. Side note, just want to appreciate you and the boys for always giving me somebody to laugh with while I’m alone at school
@@mrram5040 first and foremost, if you had gone to school you would have had to learn how to read and then think and then, after you have done all that you should speak. As I said before, I was eating dinner while watching. Worry about yourself chump I mean champ
I highly recommend a 3 or 5-ton Jib crane. They are convenient if you ever need to lift something! I'd also recommend installing a good wash bay, pressure washer and drain! Would also be cool if you also framed a corner off, like 4'x4' for a walk-in cooler to store game!
Try a program called sketch up. I used it to completely plan all 3 of my shops. It helped us know where to put our paint booth, how big we could make our offices mezzanine, where every piece of machinery will go in our metal fab shop, how many cars we can fit in our personal 6k sqft showroom, how many car lifts we could fit, and what kind of tool storage we would need for every space. Seeing as we spent $200k on just tool storage from Hayley and Badassworkbenches, I’d say the time spent drawing everything was well worth it. Good luck brother.
My shop is the same size. Whenever I revamp it I’m going to add a pit with fluid drains, and put the bathroom in the back left corner. Especially if your going to do the loft in the shape of an L, have a triangle shaped bathroom in the 90 deg corner. You don’t want a square impeding sight/ walk paths. Or if your going to have water ran to the pull through for pressure washing maybe put it near the back door on the side facing your house so plumbing is easier and convenient
You need a outside wash bay for the vehicles plus for Banjo to shower. That ravine going to take a lot of dirt to fill, also might need a culvert to use the natural flow of run off water (not all on Brad over there). Do some 6-8" field tile on the hill behind the shop running to the ravine as well.
Gotta have a deer hanger and a drain underneath it, loft where you say but the back part 18ft and put the stairs l-shaped in the corner with the bathroom under it. Make the long part of the loft storage and the 18ft (shorter side) a little hangout spot
You should definitely invest in a good furnace and AC unit for that shop. I know it's expensive, but 100% worth it for that nice of a shop! Also, maybe look into solar panels. With that large of a roof, you would probably come close to generating all the electricity you will use, house and garage!
Not sure if you've had concrete done yet, but you should put in floor radiant heat with a boiler. It's a bit more expensive than just standard forced air heaters, but for a long term investment, it's definitely the way to go.
Are you sure you need a whole septic system for the drains? Im a plumber and typically you would need a oil interceptor to catch all the oil and what not from the floors.. a septic system is not a oil separator and would still introduce everything into the environment in the drain field laterals
For the loft, do 8 foot on the side wall and 12 feet on the back wall and then put the stairs in front of it (running parallel). Make sure to include a landing up there so you can load stuff up there with the skid loader forks. I'd run that loft all the way to the back side bay door, you can always have too much room. Don't forget to plumb for air lines when you run the electric.
You can swing by one of our two shops if you’d like for loft ideas. Both are 60x60 one has a bathroom underneath it. Both have different ways to get up to the loft area. Both located within three miles of your new shop.
looks great. think about a shop sink, maybe on the outside of the bathroom wall. that should help keep the plumbing simple. a large, deep shop sink is very useful.
I’d definitely do central vacuum, a compressor closet, air lines everywhere, and definitely a vehicle lift. Maybe put the vehicle lift next to the loft, then you could have access to the top side of the vehicle while it’s on the lift. Heated floors as well before they pour the concrete. And a vent fan somewhere.
Crazy looking back at the first house you bought in Illinois with the first truck you bought to where you are now. Congrats brother, it’s been one hell of a journey and I’m glad to see where you’ve taken it!
Put the bathroom upstairs on the loft. That way you can use all the floor space. Trust me you will need every square Inch of that floor. If you decide to put the bathroom on 1st floor . Make sure you have the plumber install plumbing above the slab for future plumbing for loft. If you don't use it.just leave capped in the wall. It's inexpensive to install futures. That way you don't have to break concrete to connect to a sewer
This is amazing you have Brooklyn and this UA-cam channel has impacted your life by the looks of it and Brooklyn was born into an amazing family❤ love the new house btw
With all the trees you have you should get a wood boiler, and run it to your barn and house, my buddy has a 40 by 60 ft barn with heated floors and he heats his house with his. They are definitely a good investment if you have the timber to burn.
I have an idea for the stairs you could do some spiral stairs that would save a lot more space instead of normal stairs which would take up a lot more space
What is the loft's purpose for? If it's entertainment, then it would make more sense to have it closer to your main entrance and if not then back corner makes sense. Also you can do a wide switch back stair case and that takes up less room potentially and makes stairs case more compact.
You should look in to a heated floor you can have a wood burner out side that heats up water that flows through the floor it is really nice to have in the winter any farmer with a shop around where I live has it
Get an exhaust fan installed too!!!! That way if you are welding or running motors or anything where you may need ventilation you can purge the shop of all bad air by simply opening one door and then turning on the exhaust fan
If your going to be doing catch clean cooks or any field dressing put a hot water valve outside to that area so it’s easy to wash off just connect a hose with a sprayer and your ready to go
Better do 8 inch thick concrete and high pressure mix , so it can hold up to any equipment that you pull in to work on. That giant rivine behind the shop would be perfect to build a storm shelter and cover it up with whatever dirt you dig from the pond. I would also plumb all the metal line's for a shop compressor that away you don't have to drag airline all over the shop when you're working on something. If you have drop down air line reel's you can do work anywhere in shop, or air up tire's anywhere in the shop. With all the fishing and duck hunting you guy's do, it will help out if you have HVAC ductwork ran throughout the rafters and have duct drop line's about 6 foot down. Guy I know has his shop setup with central heat and air so he can pull his bass boat in and lift all the lids and let it dry out. Not to mention climatized air keeps animals food a lot longer without growing mold. Plus too if you're actually storing your personal belongings in the loft like you mentioned they'll last a lot better in a controlled climate. Those big industrial Ashley wood furnaces would be a good idea when y'all are trying to keep it livable in there for longer winter projects.
I don't know about in Iowa but in the south pouring dry concrete mix and covering with dirt to hold a post will cause major issues later down the road once the mix soaks water and hardens. It's causes the post to shift and settle or rise, but that's here
I think have the loft run the whole side wall, and include the ceiling of the toilet. But also, have a library ladder attached for under-loft shelving, so you can reach all the shelves etc.
Andrew you should most definitely put a car lift in your shop!!! Put it on the end garage door so you always have a nice lift for anyone to use or for you to use. It would be a good investment so all of your friends and family can come use a lift if needed for mechanical work! Sweet ass shop tho, a man’s DREAMMM!!!
You should go bathroom in back corner. Would be close to back door. Also work out well for the stairs. Definitely should do some hose hookups inside and outside too
You need a vehicle wash and detail bay in your shop. Heated water, floor catch and drain, central vac system, epoxy floors. Wash and detail your vehicles, boats, etc.
Don't forget a big walk-in shower! Just for your safety, because you never know when you could dump a 55 gallon of oil 🛢 on yourself or some chemicals. In our CERT group we have a saying, "Strip or Die" talklng about when you need to walk through the portable shower in an emergency.
Maybe you could ask for Brad's input on where to locate the bathroom and plumbing. In our shop on the outside wall of the bathroom we also had a deep wash basin sink. What if you have a hand-washing emergency while Banjo is in the bathroom ?!?
Flair, if you are plumbing it, go ahead and put in a washer and dryer for all of your hunting clothes and any other shop fabrics, like towels or pet bedding. Keep all of that separated from the house and that way it never has to go inside.
May suggest storing your animal food (grain etc..) in a shipping container. It be dry and keeps pests and other unwanted things away from your animal feed. Love the video can't wait for the next one.
Aye flair its been an honor to watch you I’ve been here watching this videos since day one and you’ve really show how hard you work in your videos and how far you have come your now a parent and building your dream home its crazy how fast these years gone but i just wanna tell you i love you and never miss an upload
Love the shop Flair it's a man's dream come true! Just make sure you have a good drain system on the backside. It'll help keep any water coming off that hill on the backside from making a muddy mess or getting into your dream shop!
Your idea of the loft on the back side of the shop is spot on, that side should be dedicated to fixing vehicles and machinery! Try to get a two post lift in that side of the shop!
If you have to put in a septic tank then you might as well put in the bathroom with a shower and a laundry room because after a fishing, hunting or camping trip you can drop your gear in the shop grab a shower and throw your clothes in the washer and be ready for dinner when you get to your house. You can probably fit all of it under the steps maybe have to use a little room under the loft.
Awesome job with the filming, really captured the essence of the project. I just finished my 50x40 shop a month back so i'm enjoying it along with you :) . Only thing I was wondering is shouldn't they have poured a footing? With a structure that size you really don't want to worry about structure down the road.
Heck of a shop man! I would definitely put in a two post car lift and a 4 way hoist system so you can move toys/ projects without opening up doors and or using equipment to move it. In my opinion the bathroom underneath the stairs is a great idea idea and an even better use of space. I would also recommend putting in a utility sink in you work shop area adjacent to the bathroom. Loft should definitely be on the side you are thinking. Hit the nail right in the head in my opinion. It would have great access from the man door and be out of the way of the rest of that massive work area. Thoroughly enjoy watching your content! Keep up the good work beef cake construction!
I would enclose the side you want the loft so you can walk through the door to a mud room for waders and stuff, then to a chill room/war room, then to the bathroom. And doors out to the shop from the mud room and bathroom
I’ve worked in shops that have pull through doors and that was the more used part, think of this busy day in shop. All day in and out of the shop and you just pull through then when you got to pick up a lot of stuff or Heavy stuff it’s a lot easier to just pull through idk just a thought for you
I may have missed it but I would add some rebar and wire and make the concrete thicker in like a 12/12 area and put a two post lift in there to work on stuff.
I personally would build an office/kitchen/full bath area in the front of the shop where you’re “pretty” entrance is. It looks like you have about 10 or 12 feet before you hit the pull through doors so I think that would be the best space for it!
Lights under the over hang off each side would be a good idea. If your ever working on packing up hunting stuff at night Lights be nice. Flood lights in the soffit are also nice. Lots of leds inside so you can see when working.
Make a video on how you buy shipping containers on an auction use one for the animals near your shop paint it black, use another one near your pond and another one one another side of your property maybe make a little deerhunting spot out of it.
I helped a really great freind of ours build a huge barn/work shop and it was 120 by 40 and two stories...it was huge and alot of work but fun at the same time.
Flair you may want to make a central vacuum area so when you do any cutting you can just sweep it all over to one spot and have it removed. Looking forward to all the great stuff to come. Been watching for a long time and really happy for your family.

This, make sure you put a slop sink on the outside of the wall shared with the bathroom.
Do a overnight with the animals and it would be pretty cool if you built a tree house
Going to piggy back here and say I've been telling flair live stream the animals. Maybe at the new property?

For the grain you could get like a little grain bin for it so you just take the little bins up and you can fill it with the big bin.
You gotta do a video of setting up the animal stuff as well, the fence, barn (if your building one), and bringing the animals over. Those are the ones I'm looking most forward to

Agree with the treehouse, you and the crew need a pimped out treehouse with a 360 balcony so it can be used as a deer stand as well.
You should ask your plumber about stubbing water up for hose bibs close to your floor drains for power washing.

Next to the bathroom put in a janitor closet with the janitor sink.great place to store your mops and such.
Great work man! You should add a commercial hunting kitchen station off the bathroom - deep freeze and stainless wash table for processing deer.
Shop came out Elite! One of many amazing projects done by "The Goat" 🐐
Me and my mam watch your videos for years hope the family is keeping well my guy
Love the shop Flair it's a man's dream come true! Just make sure you have a good drain system on the backside. It'll help keep any water coming off that hill on the backside from making a muddy mess or getting into your dream shop!
Looking good can't wait to see the finishing product if you could move into that Warehouse, keep up the work
Your idea of the loft on the back side of the shop is spot on, that side should be dedicated to fixing vehicles and machinery!
Awesome video. Thanks for posting. I hope the wind doesn’t blow the smell down to Brad’s house from the animals.
You should make a grain silo and have a tube going down to the animals so it’s autofills the food for them
You should’ve posted this during the halftime show. This is so much better
I am sure lost of people asking about the Animals . Whats happening when you move? Where will the animals be? Love to see you moving them .
You should do stairs that hinge and can be lifted up like a cruise ship. That way you can lift them out of the way when not in use.
The possibilities for a workshop building like that are limitless! That is one awesome structure! 👌 😀
Thanks for the support! I hope you enjoyed :) I got 😛 a surprise for you 📦🎁
100% should do a cat walk-platform- Cat walk (13:00) and make the platform your bathroom/chill/podcast spot!
I would enclose the side you want the loft so you can walk through the door to a mud room for waders and stuff, then to a chill room/war room, then to the bathroom. And doors out to the shop from the mud room and bathroom
Keep doing what you love Mr Flair. We will also love what we are doing. Which is watching you doing what you love❤️
Man we definitely need a compound episode where you really take your time to show us everything once its finished
You should add a station for your carch clean cook that would be dope
Spiral staircase! Then you don't take up as much room plus it just looks badass!
I’ve worked in shops that have pull through doors and that was the more used part, think of this busy day in shop. All day in and out of the shop and you just pull through then when you got to pick up a lot of stuff or Heavy stuff it’s a lot easier to just pull through idk just a thought for you
Flair! Add Washer and dryer in the shop along with a shower
Put some drains in there where the pull through is, so you can wash boats and side by sides!
The outdoor UA-cam 🐐 is back with another 🔥 🎥 🍿 💯
SHEEEEEW
I may have missed it but I would add some rebar and wire and make the concrete thicker in like a 12/12 area and put a two post lift in there to work on stuff.
Didn’t realize Brads house was that close 😳
I personally would build an office/kitchen/full bath area in the front of the shop where you’re “pretty” entrance is. It looks like you have about 10 or 12 feet before you hit the pull through doors so I think that would be the best space for it!
Make sure you put a lots outlets 212 @220 office in the loft would be cool and a small kitchen bathroom and maybe a bedroom space
Shop bathroom is a must. Also, a bad ass coffee maker, haha.
Lights under the over hang off each side would be a good idea. If your ever working on packing up hunting stuff at night Lights be nice. Flood lights in the soffit are also nice. Lots of leds inside so you can see when working.
Put storage up in the trusses for all the waterfowl gear
Make a video on how you buy shipping containers on an auction use one for the animals near your shop paint it black, use another one near your pond and another one one another side of your property maybe make a little deerhunting spot out of it.
I helped a really great freind of ours build a huge barn/work shop and it was 120 by 40 and two stories...it was huge and alot of work but fun at the same time.
Remember when Flair used to fish? That was cool.
Highly recommend a shop shower too, dont want to have to run up to the house if banjo falls in the chicken turds 😂
Flair is the absolute content KING 🤴! He's already got me fired up for the next 6 months of what is going to happen in the new shop and house.
Flair should build a big corner loft and use it as a roof for the bathroom and if he adds a kitchen/area to clean game.
You need an outdoor shower, gut rack for deer, freezer/smokehouse, fishing gear room,
