Hello Tomas been waiting for the game to release for a while and now that it’s finally out, I’ve played nothing else but it. The artstyle, building, and atmosphere is amazing! After playing for several dozen hours, I can say that I would agree with most of the reviews saying the controls are jarring. Several suggestions that I think would improve would be to add unlocked camera panning within the borders of our territories instead of having to click and snap to towers, and also an option for a traditional mouse cursor or a taller beacon to easier spot the cursor on ground/sea level. On the gameplay side the exploration is satisfying, immersive, and relaxing. But after a while it becomes very shallow and theres not much to do once you’ve got a decent military/economy going. Exploring reminds me of Sid Meiers Pirates and would love to see it go in that direction but in a more Bulwark relaxed no hand-holding style. By that I mean the world starts to feel empty after a dozen islands. It would be great to see other exploring/trading sea/airborne fleets and monsters that you can interact with as well as more varied random encounters in land/sea/sky. Combat also starts being repetitive and tedious after a while even though I love seeing the spectacle of it (animations and effects are great!). I can suggest more surveyor customization and most importantly surveyor weapon upgrades that focuses on direction based combat. I think it would feed greatly into the fantasy and satisfaction of using a massive airship in combat like for example having to work with the slightly clunky controls to line up your broadside cannons and watch it all go off on everyone on the receiving end or long range siege cannons/precision railguns but have a very narrow cone in front of you or auto cannons that only fire on ground targets below but very effectively. A few suggestions from other games that worked before: renaming your colonies and have it appear on the map, ability to send strike groups to any point in the map and return with rewards if engaging other settlements/fleets/random events or not at all, dlc for more themed buildings, faction warfare/trade between other settlements/groups, transport see/airborne ships that carry ground troops to conquer settlements instead of instawinning after air superiority or reduce discontent by deploying to your own settlements, modding support. I love the game as is already and would love to see where it goes from here or what’s next from the team!
Oi, Tomas! I love your game, it's refreshingly mellow and is just so unique, I love it. At 4:43, how did you build towers across the deep water like that? I see some stones but I thought you could not build across deep water at all. Request for you to put hot keys in for control groups (specifically because of Naval command making it so you can have your surveyor, a separate flight group and navy) It would be really nice to be able to add key buildings/locations to the control groups as well. Thanks for developing this lovely game. P.S. I LOVED Moonpath to Elswyre.
you just "edge" into the water, foundation upn foundation, then put a tower on that foundation ajnd edge out, as that's on top solid ground (a foundation) you can stick more out.. community found it as an exploit, I left it in , cuz its hella fun so the new system has the 1 key for sending a command to the seperate assault group, 2 to command your fleet/ flagship from your surveyor this both works on the map andfrom the cursor. now switching between your airship and naval ship is kinda tricky, cuz I'm running out of keys on gamepad,, (and we are cross platform), also insta switching gets messy with the ground also being a mode. so there's just switching when you are near the other vessel, and switching directly from the map.. I am contemplating another set of keys to switch between the two. but goddamn thats a lot of keys, for a chill casual game ;) if I do that needs to be 1 and 2 and then something else to give the commands. which is gonna be so messy
id also like to see the commanders and captains have their own icons I find myself looking for my commanders and getting confused whos who would be nice if maybe commanders have a golden ring to make them as a high ranking settler red would be a guard ship and blue would be your traders
I've played the game for about.. 15 hours and ive done quite a few playthroughs... And accumulated quite the gripes too! For one.. i can't have you shush and not welcome me to bulwark every single time i turn it on.. or have advisor atan constantly say the production power shown in this mode every time i switch to said mode and click on an extraxtor.. yes, i know how it works.. Anithe gripe i have with the game is, freebuild doesnt let you save your game, you cant let loose endless creativity and save it to work on an absolutely humongous artificial mountainnof a bulwark, and speaking of creativity I seem to be havibg an issue specifically with game mechanics getting in the way, even more in depth unexplained game mechanics... The ones you said that figuring out is part of the game As an example of said unexplained mechanics, putting down a quarry and building it up... But the production number not increasing, evenbthough resource is there and buildings for production are spawning.. or in another way i cant, let loose the creativity of making a properly big outpost from just one central citadel lest that tip the alignment away and, prevent me from progressing or getting some mechanics or traders for expansion in another tree for example... What im trying to get at is that yes.. you've said specifically that its a game about chaotic creativity and a sandbox at that... But it doesnt feel like i have the full depths and creative freedom of a sandbox it feels like I'm playing with toy blocks instead of sculpting with sand and, for me as a player i feel like i have some artificial and arbitrary restraints on how big i can make that mancer outpost or, how big can this imperial settlement get without upsetting factions.. it doesn't feel like a sandbox to me in the literal sense of the word Im not going to refund but, im also not probably goingbto be sinking too much time until some quality of life changes come through regarding both handholding and player restraints, while i was i deed excited for the naval update I- im not so sure now.. i feel weird, the play experience ive had is weird..

I love the concept behind this game and I can appreciate some "relaxed" builder, but I'm glad something more challenging is coming down the road. There's only so much zen-building you can do before it becomes tedious and there's already a Freebuild mode for anyone who just want some relaxing building. Campaign mode severely need more challenging and rewarding content. Right now it's way way too easy to grow fast and murder everything unopposed. Once you know what you are doing it literally takes 10 mins to be the most powerful settlement on the map and after that there's really no reason to keep going. Also, i know it probably won't be the case, but a random map generator with more generation options would also be great. And please, a better way to deal with trade routes without having to destroy the harbors every time you want to change destinations. That's a QoL that's sorely needed. Sweet game tho, just need some more content to be a great one.
the next patch (this week sometime) will actually buff the defending fleet significantly, add a bit more challenge and wiping the map a lot more work. Also their response is a lot beefier as well. I hope ,. but I agree there, overshot the target a bit. will be working to find that fine line between relaxing and satisfying the coming patches..
My second stage might be to introduce small well defended fortresses as perimeter defences for some capitols.. but requires quite a lot of voice acting. Thus takes time

hey could you make the free house gold tree instead of the blue I'm just thinking since their not a faction you could class them as a golden soul meaning all factions love them
Hi I found your game accidentally tried the demo liked it and bought the full version. So I am new and perhaps you already answered this somewhere, but I wanted to ask - after conquering all cities is there some kind of an endgame? As I understand right now you just erase the factions and thats it? It would be nice to have something like a unified nations storyline/achievement which automatically resets the war level and let's you continue to raise soul tree with each faction. Or after taking over all faction cities to reset back into peace mode - now you just stay stuck in perpetual war with no use for their captains or is this an intended "punishment" for those choosing war instead of trade i.e. oppresed factions won't cooperate?
Well it's really intended as a sandbox rather than a conquering a 4x game So conquest is possible but not directly the goal. I guess unlocking the soultrees for each faction is a better goal. I am adding the ability to turn a faction into a vassal state in the next update as well as fixing up the post conquest behavior a tad. But in general it's a sandbox about building :)
