  • Steve Jobs had his first child, Lisa Brennan-Jobs, at 23.
At first, he rejected claims that she was his child. After taking a court-mandated paternity test, Jobs accepted Lisa as his daughter. He admitted later on in life that he was simply not prepared for fatherhood.

In his defense, the mother made horrible financial decisions and would repeatedly run to him to give her more money. He bought the family a home, provided more than the required child support, and eventually took Lisa to live with him. While he should've done more (for the daughter, not the mother), given that tons of fathers nowadays don't even pay child support, he's not the worst among them. Later the mother threatened to publish a "tell-all" if she didn't receive millions of Job's estate. She's incredibly unhinged and has always put her failures on everyone else but herself.

Sonic If one wants to know something about Steve Jobs or why many people admired him so much even way before anyone ever thought about an iPod or an iPhone, he or she has to refrain immediately from vast and stupid generalizations of his character, be they positive or negative, because no human being works that way. He was neither only a “visionary” nor only an “asshole (who became successful)” as many commentators on UA-cam who know nothing about him or the historical period and specific context from which he and Apple emerged will repeatedly tell you.
A good starting point is, indeed, Walter Isaacson’s biography “Steve Jobs”. Then, there are a lot of other books and documentaries on Steve Jobs. I especially enjoyed Andy Hertfeld’s (one of the original Macintosh’s software designers) “Revolution in the Valley” which is a collection of short anecdotes from the years in which this groundbreaking personal computer was designed. If you want to read earlier accounts: there are Michael Moritz’s “The Little Kingdom” and Jeffrey Young’s “Steve Jobs: They Journey is the Reward” (both from the mid-Eighties).
As far as documentaries or feature film goes: “Triumph of the Nerds” (1995) was not bad. “Pirates of Silicon Valley” with Noah Wyle as Steve Jobs is a good depiction of the early home computer era, although some of the conclusions which the film made about Steve Jobs’s management style are totally wrong. His daughter Lisa is an important part of the plot as well (and this part was executed well, I think). I never saw the two feature films which were made after his death (except for a few scenes of UA-cam) but I strongly disliked the trailer for Andy Sorkin’s film. It did not capture his personality AT ALL.
If you really want to gain an insight into Steve Jobs, I would also recommend to read or watch some of his lengthy interviews. If you are interested I can name you a few which I believe to be the most interesting.

It's incumbent on Laurene now to do the right thing because she has all of his money. Under the moral law, the father's money is split equally among the children, unless their mother is still alive and then it passes to her first, to hand down to them. Obviously if he is not married to the mother the child directly gets the money. It's never too late. Laurene married a man who already had children. This is significant. This child should never work a day in her life.

You cannot expect an innovative computer firm, especially during the 80s, to be an easy place to work. Apple built the personal computer industry. If you don't get the nerve to work there, just go home. They need A players. If you want to be available to your family during the weekend, forget it, it will never work. Jobs needs passionate and dedicated players. You won't change the word working from 9 to 5. They needs workaholic working 24/7. Gates was not decent during the whole 80s. The world hated him. His humanitarian activities was some sort of cure for himself.

Jobs cannot communicate properly with people, so he had an incentive to do it trough technology. This is why he has been so successful with technology. You cannot expect an innovative air conditioner to be designed in the north pole. It needs to be a place where the sun is dysfunctional and really really hot.

    • @tarkovskybresson4581
      @tarkovskybresson4581 7 років тому +7

Tom Miller I am not an Apple fan boy, I am an advanced Industrial organization fan boy. You don't need to mention the importance of IBM and Microsoft. It is already a fact. They are the main competitor for Apple. Without them, Apple would not get the incentive to become as good as it is. Competition is fundamental. The market would not be the same without those 3 firms. In 2017, I believe IBM is even more innovative than Apple, the Watson AI is the future. IBM is an important player in the data science revolution happening right now. Don't under-estimate the knowledge of people who are not hating Jobs. For me, Apple, IBM an Microsoft are simply 3 agents trying to built things and change history. The winner doesn't matter, what matter is the outcome

Steve Jobs stole the credit from countless engineers and programmers,Neglected his first born daughter and was a bully in the workplace. Steve Jobs wanted to change the world in two ways. One, make himself richer...and two, make himself famous on other peoples hard work and ingenuity.Take away the money and fame and he is just another sociopath stuck on himself. One thing Steve Jobs did invent...The false perception of a genius working tirelessly for the good of humanity.

Jobs might have been a bad father, but that doesn't diminish his achievements as CEO of Apple. The job of a CEO is not to do the programming, his job is to lead the ship and get the best out of people. We saw how Apple succeeded before Jobs got fired, and after his comeback. In between the company almost got bankrupt, so this alone should give you the picture how much of Apples success was down to Jobs.

Wrong. Chrisann was there day in, day out. Steve showed up for the visible, fun part, like so many deadbeat dads who insufficiently support their children and their children's mother. He never ever supported Lisa's mother adequately. If he was truly in love, he had plenty of money to make sure that baby had her mother to adore her 24/7. Mother is irreplaceable.

He had 17,000 million dollars when he died. The law should not allow this but he only left this child a few million. Other children will split the estate. This is a token amount, unconscionable amount, under the circumstances and the law should not allow it. When women's lib said women could hop in bed they did not mean that men could deny children they sired or intimidate or threaten women into giving up their own flesh and blood. Child siring is the most binding circumstance; comparatively, marriage is indeed just a piece of paper. It isn't really but compared to having a child, it is.

For those who are crying at how much an asshole jobs was to his daughter, she turned out just fine and graduated from Harvard. She loved her father more than her mother, think about that.

She did not turn out just fine. And you have no idea what happened on the inside. She had no father all of her growing up life. I don't think you know what that is like. And she doesn't know what it's like to have a father growing up. He and Laurene can't pay her back for that in this lifetime but they should try.

He starved her mother so she couldn't do motherhod as Lisa needed. Then mothers get hit twice. The men take everything, the money and the children. THIS is what happens, trust me. All because men didn't do their job right.

Man, i could live the rest of my life shaming a dead man, but it'd be pointless. Suddenly becoming a parent is stressful-- especially when you're a young hippie. Shit happens man. Some men aren't cut out to be dads, and I respect Jobs' decision for not forcing himself into a domestic situation that probably would have ended in shit anyway. It's gross that people would use this information to blackmail/harass people, ugh. Great to see that they eventually formed a bond! All families grow in different ways!
I mean like, Lisa isn't the only human to grow up with out a father, ffff.

Steve Jobs was almost a millionaire when Lisa, his baby, was born. The mother had to clean houses to make ends meet while PREGNANT with his kid. He’s an a-hole of a man.
