    One day in Wudang, I wasn't feeling too good emotionally. I told Master Gu and he just smiled to me and said "Don't feel bad, life is good!", we then just proceeded to the Woodland training ground and the rest of the day was fine.

    Great work both of you!
    Taoist wisdom is the most important thing we can learn to live a peaceful and fulfilling life!
    I first learned about it from reading Bruce Lee, but it took another few decades before I really grasped the concept on a deeper level.
    These days, i don't often need to read about it, but just find my disposition has adapted a very Taoist way.
    Nothing makes me happier than just being in the flow in nature!

    I have only learned about the Tao from Lao Tzu in The Tao TeChing, The Tao of Pooh and Te of Piglet by Benjamin Hoff and the many recordings of Alan Watts and his many books as well. I see a connection between Zen Buddhism and Taoism and Wu Wei…. Can you please share more about these teachings in a more specific context for the modern world? I have been searching for some Taoist teachings from a person and or communities that are available to share any and all wisdom available. I especially don’t know the specific Taoist meditation techniques or methods etc. Thanks for the short video and link for an online community that I will definitely check out as soon as I have a financial plan. ❤

    I really had a laugh in one of the classes I was watching. Eli was filming behind a tree and Master Gu didn't know he was there. Master Gu started laughing so hard. I was wondering if you could do a blooper video of the mistakes made during some of the practices.

    Thank you so much, George and Master Gù! When I started to practice Tàijíquán, I always thought that I was the happiest person in the world. I had a feeling of total inner stillness and joy but I actually didn’t behave very calmly. Now I understand that this wasn’t that great at all and I couldn’t control my emotions. I ask myself what a good state of mind should actually feel like, though…

    • @George-Thompson
      @George-Thompson  10 місяців тому +4

      A good state of mind is not about suppressing emotions but rather embracing them with calmness and understanding. It's a journey, and with practice, you'll find that true contentment lies in finding harmony amidst life's fluctuations. Keep exploring and learning; you're on the right path!

      @@George-Thompson Thank you very much! 😊 I’ll do everything I can. And yes, I’ve heard about the idea of accepting the emotions. I started to practice that and I wasn’t very successful at the beginning but I guess that it’s slowly getting better now. But it’s still a real challenge.

    • @dodhisattva
      @dodhisattva 10 місяців тому +2

      @@George-Thompson I like your comment here George, and this topic in general is one I enjoy exploring and practicing. To feel all emotions with an overall awareness of it so to have control of them. I like to imagine that inside my body is like the ocean and for me a visualization practice of my waters inside calm and tranquil. When I notice either great excitement or anxiousness the waters inside are moving faster and it is a good time to see it and gently come back to tranquil if I desire that. Then it seems my emotions can then follow suit and my behavior as well. I think with this group it would be easier to practice this. I will keep on evolving and growing! Thank you for posing this great question!

    Interesting conversation, it made me curious: I think there is a tendency in some cultures to "bottle up" emotions. If one has a sort of reservoir of unprocessed emotions, does Daoism have anything to offer on that topic? ...I've heard that if something makes you legitimately sad and you prevent that sadness from being expressed (or felt) then it like hangs around, possibly causing health issues, until its dealt with. I wonder what daoism might have to say about that? ....I agree that like authentic inner peace seems like it would be healthier, long term, rather than riding a roller coaster of emotion on a regular basis... How do daoists cultivate a truly profound inner peace and not one that is sort of brushing things under the rug, avoidance, being in denial? Sometimes turning towards, facing an emotion, and processing it can be a faster way of "metabolizing" it and moving past it, than trying to explain it away. Thanks! Curious how a daoist cultivator might respond to these quesitons.
