I bought myself a Syntakt over Christmas and have spent the last few weeks watching endless videos on youtube to see what’s it’s capable of (and trying to work out how to use it), and this is by far the best video I’ve seen yet to show how capable this awesome piece of kit is. And the tunes are killer, plus I love the way he’s made a set out of it. Who needs decks. This is way more fun than DJing!
The thing about yan cook is, that he can make every gear and software sound great. Many of us think we need to buy 1k worth of equipment to produce great techno.
@@technokind1503yeah that's Jeff mills.... lol, hes saying saying the ever day joe thinks they need all this equipment to produce these sounds and by getting it they will instantly make good techno. You can have the equipment you want but if you don't know how to sequence or develop sounds you're going to sit there listening to a kick and a hit hat all day.
Amazing. Watched multiple times and never get tired. I’m a fan of your work! Sorry if it’s a stupid question - Does that beautiful mellow synth note that starts at 7:25 come from the Syntakt as well?
Yan - if you do a tutorial vid on how you put this set together, people will pay good money for it. I bought a Syntakt over Christmas and have watched endless UA-cam videos to see what’s possible with Syntakt and how to set everything up, and this is by far the best video showing Syntakts capabilities. And more to the point, when I try and visualise how I want to use Syntakt and what kind of music I want to make, this video absolutely nails it for me. Seriously mate, if you were able to put together a little vid showing how you did what you did, I would send you $200, because this is exactly how I want to use it, and you would save me a heap of time. If you’re interested, @me because I’m serious!
@@midiscripts I used the Overbridge plugin in Ableton and recorded the track with Overbridge on a separate audio track and all the mixing I did on Syntakt, nothing too complicated)
@@YanCook I think it is good to show other (techno) producers ways to work clean and smart (like having both kick and bass on the same track...), whatever it is on Ableton or Elektron Machines. I am interested !
@@pabstkkx thank you! Can someone be kind enough to explain in what capacity the faderfox is being used and what kind of connections it’s having with the syntakt? Much appreciated
@@boyincurls Can't really see how it's set up here. It can be used in a multitude of ways: Mapped to Syntakt parameters to limit menu-diving, mapped to an effect unit, or run Syntakt to Ableton via Overbridge and use it to control DAW parameters in a hybrid setup.

Your techno is unlike anyone elses, it has such a presence and hard hitting feel to it, the amount of effort you put into your craft shows
That vocalish patch at the end is godlike.

Jeff Mills makes great Techno just with a 909
What a dumb statement. You would come to find that the syntakt costs about 1k lmao

funny, io get it though ;D
Damn, I think my Syntakt is broken....sounds nothing like this! 😂 Incredible!
that is the absolute ability to dance on gears and surfing with the soul in style brother... 🙌🏻🔥🤘🏻
That pad at the end is epic 🤩😍
Exactly what I was going to comment!!! Absolutely mint. The whole set is brilliant. Especially the pad at the end, so good!!!!
Masterfully done. Your sound design is unmatched.
I'll never stop loving my Syntakt. I'm addicted to mining it for great sounds. Looks like you've got a good handle on it too 🙌
PLEASE release this as an EP! Obsessed!
Absolute banger
Never disappointed, big respect to your work.
The best syntakt techno performance I have seen!🔥
The flames just keep on coming and coming
Maestro! I'd love to see a walk through on this one :)
This is sick, excited to see what you'll do with the 1.3 update!
Check my latest video 🙃
lovely ,elektron is true techno maschines
whatever the machine, the techno is excellent 🔥
Bloody awesome. Absolutely love it. 🏴☠️
Yan, you should do a workshop for the variety of genres // subgenres to be created and manipulated by Elektron Syntakt etc.
so perfect and clean
Jesus….❤🎉 great performance…😮

Sorry if it’s a stupid question -
Does that beautiful mellow synth note that starts at 7:25 come from the Syntakt as well?
Thanks!
Yes, all the sounds in this video are from Syntakt.
so nice dude! faderfox controllers open these up for sure. rocking the UC4 myself. great stuff as always! 🙌
How do you deal with values jumping between Faderfox & Syntakt?
Yan, you’re my hero !!
Awesome work!
the last part is awsome
This sounds great dude! Love the lighting too.
Incredible performance, love this so much.
Thank You!
Yeah, nice, love it! 🔥🔥🔥
Syntakt is a nice one 👍
Nice! I love the look ❤️🔥
Yan "GOAT" Cook
brother this jam goes hard
This is insane techno, do u plan to make a masterclass about how to produce with the Syntakt ? It will be amazing, I will pay for that for sure :)
Let him Cook

Didn't know you had a Syntakt too ! Gonna have to turn mine on again 😀
Great sound!!

@@YanCook hi Yan…. Any chance of a deconstruction video on how you set all this up?
King yan ⚡️
Good one!!
Love this! How are you making the kick high pass during 2:30? Is the midi controller connected to kick channel only? 🤟
Nope, my controller is always mapped to an EQ on the Ableton master channel)
But it is possible on Syntakt as well.
Ah, thank you for the response. It sounded better than Ableton Eq so I thought it was something else :) it makes sense
Please do a syntakt techno recipe,
Haaaaaideeeeeee Yan!!! 🎉
Amazing. May I ask about your recording/mixing chain.
What do you mean?
Do you record each track separately into DAW via Overbridge and mix there or something else? I'm curious about details of this aspect
@@midiscripts I used the Overbridge plugin in Ableton and recorded the track with Overbridge on a separate audio track and all the mixing I did on Syntakt, nothing too complicated)
Great 👍
great jam Yan! what machine do you usually use for sub bass ?
Lately I use Syntakt for kick and sub, the machines are very flexible.
@@YanCook I meant the "machine" inside Syntakt e.g. dual vco
@@CardioMusic Oh, well I usually use the bass drum machines, but pretty much all of them can do some fat sub, sy tone .. and even sy chord.
Absolute goodness thank you.
Do you intend to release Syntakt projects files on gumroad too ?
Maybe I will, that's a good idea, thank you! )

whats that little thingie on the left?ß please anyone :)
What are you controlling with Faderfox?
Sideeye on my syntakt 🤨
Sick live set Dude, what is the small knob controller near the Syntack?
Faderfox EC4

7:25!!!!!!!!
🔥
Is this raw audio from syntakt or did you master something?
Not raw, I used Omega TWK for some saturation + compressor and a limiter on the master.
what parameters are you mapping the controller to?
It's just EQ8 and a reverb on the master in Ableton.
Nice tune.
Whats on the left Side from syntakt?
Just a midi controller, Faderfox EC4.
get it going before we die;-)
🔥🔥😎
🔥🔥🔥 Are you going thru overbridge or stereo to a separate interface?? Sounds great, Yan!
I use Overbridge, very convenient.
hey! do you use digitact/?
I don't own a Digitakt.
I would like to start making electronic music but I don't know where to start. Can anyone recommend me a sampler/drummachine please?
Digitakt for sure

Does someone know what machine is on his left ?

Power session!!! Do you still have the Digitone? Would kill for some videos of that amazing machine
Syntakt is the only Elektron box I own at the moment.
