Watching on tv but paused it to comment from my cell phone UA-cam. Even when you’re sick and talking about toilet stuff I have a smile on my face. Thank you.
Sorry you were so sick Scott! And look at you making a video for us anyway - I mean for you too, but still. People telling you to get a hotel obviously have no idea just how dirty hotels are lol! Yeah, they look nice but they are never as clean and cozy as home. Glad you're on the mend, and thanks for keeping us in mind. Thinking of you, too!
Tea is usually good when feeling unwell. I prefer a lemon tea with lots of lemon juice and a bit of honey in it. Peppermint is good also. Glad you’re back to coffee, it’s the most important meal of the day. 😂
Sorry you have been sick. The only thing about being sick when your by yourself is you don’t have anyone to complain too😊 Hope you back to normal soon.
That sounds like a dreadful week! You've got a comfortable home in your van - of course you'd rather stay inside. While in my van visiting friends, they're often surprised I'd rather sleep in my bed than their guest room. Biggest laugh for me - your 77" bed. My bed is 60" long and quite comfortable (yes, I can stretch out, no room to spare)!
When covid hit I set up my 2 door Jeep Wrangler for sleeping. An inflatable mattress and 4 little totes. You just covered all the things I hated about hotel rooms. Dragging and forgetting your stuff when you are exhausted, the grimey feeling, spending 1/2 hour cleaning, the discomfort of climate control and one you didn't mention: THE NOISE! All the clanging, banging, stomping and constant cacophony of slamming car doors. All this for a mere $70-80!! Thanks for the video - I'm glad you're feeling better. Makes us appreciate the good times even more xoxoxoxo
Just found you ! In this crazy world, comfort is so key. Really like how your space is concise. Warmth is so nice and so is cool air. Your space is the best place you can be ! Blessings to you and feel better soon. ❤
Hi Scott, I totally understand you not wanting to get a motel/hotel room when you are sick. When I am sick, I just want to be in my space; specifically, in my bedroom. It is my comfort zone. Even when I'm not sick, I just prefer to sleep in my space. I don't like to sleep in hotels nor in other people's homes. I like my own pillows and blankets. Probably why I don't travel much. 😆 I'm so glad you are feeling better and I'm glad that your friend was close by and brought you some coconut water. It's so good for hydration. Take care, Scott. I hope you continue to feel better and are able to get outside for a bit.
Hi Scott, I have been enjoying your videos for a few months since I began van life at 62. My van is nowhere close to as dialed in as yours! You’re giving me plenty of ideas for updating and improving my layout. I really appreciate hearing your experiences. it gives me hope that things will get easier and more rewarding, not to say the past six months haven’t been rewarding, but the learning curve is pretty steep. I have met some amazing friends and had life-changing experiences. I know that van life is not for everyone. It requires a lot of creativity and frankly a lot of courage. Keep rocking brother, you are an inspiration.
I agree with you in principle when it comes to being sick, you want to be comfortable and you want to be in a familiar space. So wherever your home is is where you need to be. I would hope that you do get a chance to build out another van and even though it might be a small one, I'd like to think that it might be a little taller because standing up in a van, whether it's small or long is a blessing. Glad you are on the mend.
Healing comes much quicker when your surroundings are familiar and bring you comfort.Just like making your coffee Scott, you know what what works for you 👍
Hi Scott, sorry you got the "ick". Speedy recovery. Regarding the mattress, I went to an RV/Marine furniture upholstery shop in Florida because they sell all kinds of foam for boats and RV furniture and seats. I did pay a pretty penny for a custom cut foam piece for my bed, but the results were, and still are amazing. They had so many options for the "Goldie Lox" in me. Perhaps there is a business like that where you are. Cheers!
Hello Scott, so glad you’re feeling better my friend I agree I like to be cozy in my own bed, but I’m really glad you’re feeling better. Thanks for the video. I’ll catch you on the next one, my friend.🙏💯☕️☕️
Few hours before leaving S'pore had street vendor chicken. Was 2/3 of the way through it when I noticed the chicken was raw. Too late... 6 hour flight to Fremantle was hell, deathly ill. Amazed Aussie immigration let me right on through. Spent 3 days in the hotel shitting liquid. No improvement. Called a taxi, asked them if they could prioritize me to the hospital. Taxi was there in 3 minutes. Aussie Doc told me to go home. Next day was much better.
Nice channel- subscribed! I think the issue with being sick in a van is not so much the things you mentioned but rather not being able to find anywhere where you can just park for a week without being bothered by people. Here in the UK, even if you pay for a campsite there will often be noisy families with kids or loud music from campers, and if you try to find somewhere remote there are always either land owners moving you on or hikers or curious dog walkers with their barking dogs coming near your van every few minutes or hours. It can get quite stressful when you just need to be left alone to heal quietly. Also, vomitting or having diarreah I'm not sure how you'd handle that in a van. A quiet hotel booked out for a week would at least remove these issues (in theory!) as you can put a "do not disturb" sign outside your door. It is however super expensive.
@@StaticCamperVan I appreciate that part, but I meant about finding safe reliable quiet parkups, that's the main issue- you don't want to be bothered when you're seriously unwell. Here in UK it is impossible to find those sorts of parkups. You can't really park up anywhere for a week & hibernate inside without being bothered or dog walkers making noise around the van, unless it's on your own private land with high fences around it...
I whole heartedly understand why you wouldn't wanna get a hotel room but why wouldn't you want a bigger bed? Not all beds are comfortable but i can bet its not hard to match your mattress in the Van's comfortability & find something youll be more comfortable in. - take your pillow into the hotel room i do that all the time. - normally you are suppose to still get some exercise when your sick so walking around would be good which you cant do inside a van. - then say you have stomach issues while sick using a restroom in a room is way easier & convenient than getting in & out a vehicle into the elements to use the restroom. - i stay at a place mainstay suites its set up like an apartment stove, fridge, couch, kitchen table. I have experience so i guess thats where my opinions come from & i definitely prefer a hotel room rather than a car or vehicle depending on how sick i was.

I agree with everything you are saying about hotels. What I hate the most is the strong chemicals they use to "sanitize" which is NOT the same as cleaning. The smells really disturb my concentration. And it is hard to find one that has windows that open. Paying all the $ for a room with no window and harsh chemical smells. No way.
Hi scott sorry to hear you haven't been well you are better in your own home when you're not well instead of a hotel get well soon wishing you a speed recovery love from linda in Scotland ❤❤
I just made a six day trek across the United States to attend a greyhound dog convention in Delaware. I left my RV trailer in Nevada. I have been staying in hotels which I like to do with the dog, however, the hotel in Ohio was musty so I started getting stuffy. I thought I was getting a head cold. When I made it to Delaware, I was getting sicker. I did a home Covid test and tested positive. So now I’m laid up in a hotel in Rehoboth, Delaware for the past two days trying to recover. I must say that the bed is soft and the pillows are great. But the air conditioning system does need constant adjustment . I hope we both feel better ASAP!
To the people who have hang ups about the toilet .? . We all need/use one. We need/use them to remain clean and healthy. When feeling ill home is often the most safe, most peaceful and most relaxing space which then allows our healing to manifest. Love and Respect from Australia

No matter where home is, when you are not feeling well, that is the best place to be.

Totally understand it. That’s why I don’t share my problems with people. I like to keep to myself as a van-lifer anyway.
I agree, don't send me to hospital I want my area where I'm in control. As far as my arm will go, that's home.
