Rotate those clamps, so that the quick release handles point OUT instead of UP then capture tray straps under quick releases: - no bolts true frame holes - loosening quick releases enable sliding clamps
That might work but it's not how it's shown on the GTO documentation or website (take a look), it adjusts between those two holes by loosening the QR and then pulling outwards slightly.
It’s assembled incorrectly. The u clamp for the chair link need to be rotated so the opening is up top. The quick release is so you can adjust the distance of the tray without tools.
It's not mate, it's installed correctly, check the GT Omega website and images (as I did), it adjusts between those two holes by loosening the QR and then pulling outwards.
I’m staring at the site now. It’s exactly as I said it was. Also, mine came with directions and they are not built the same way you did. If they are truly supposed to be built the way you did it, then they are just utilizing the other kits parts instead of machining new ones.
I use the NLR wheel stand and I really have zero complaints. I only use an 8nm wheel on it, but I've never pressed my chair out of the chair trough, and its more shallow then the GTO. You look rather tall, those pedals look a tad close which gives you so much more leverage to push out if you push too hard on the brakes. Also the pulling doesn't really make much sense as in real sweaty moments I'm sure more people are pushing on their wheels trying not to crash and burn then pull and steer. The NLR stand is made of steel and is really heavy. Maybe that's why it doesn't move like that? For people that don't have a lot of room and want to spend some money wheel stands are great, just make sure you get a quality one like this one or the Next Level Racing. Both will be great and will be loads better then a desk.
I'm 6ft mate and thats as low as my seat goes... another trade off with a wheel stand is driving position adjustment. The heavier the stand the better as mentioned, I had the NLR DD stand also and it is indeed great, just expensive compared to this and you gain little IMO.
Man the solution to me for office chair movement is just replacement wheels with decent brakes. My chair doesn't budge now. I also set my CSL brake at the traditional clutch location that gives me allot more room.
I wonder if 3D printing custom parts to lock the rotation of the office chair and clamp it down onto the chair extension will solve some of the issues.
I am looking at ordering this stand, thanks for the very informative review! Subbed.......just a thought but perhaps with the chair mount the quick release and bolt need swapping over to alow for changing to the other hole? Could be wrong??
I like the caster tray. The biggest problem with stands is the chair or stand moving. Using the stand to keep the chair from moving back and the weight of driver in chair to help steady the stand is brilliant.
I locked my chair in the level position and eliminated the lift on the classic stand, the chair in the spring position makes you lean back while breaking causes the lift at the tray, l have a dd x on order, nice review
How is it compared to the GT Omega Apex? I have the logitech g pro (11nm), and am thinking between those two stands. This one is more sturdy, but its not foldable. Do you reckon the Apex would be enough for 11nm?
If I were to buy a wheel tray for my Apex stand, Id probably get the same tray attached to the DDX in your review. I wouldn't be able to use the bolts that go through the arm, but the quick release clamp would keep the tray in place on my stand. So, maybe its a universal part? Also, I don't have the rear end of the Apex stand but, I use a ratchetting cargo strap to tether the chair to the stand. I am running the Fanatec CSL Elite v1 pedals, and I have my pedal force set to 70. Even at full braking it takes a lot to get the stand and chair to tilt away from eachother. I kept the strap as low as possible and have the hook ends on the chair's casters. Its a pretty solid setup. Not the most comfortable, but I can press the pedals as hard as I want, with no concerns about the chair tipping over.
Thanks for the video. I was thinking the same when assembled my next level 2.0 BUT the issue i have is after first 2 months i always have to tight more screws because of the vibrations. i have r12. i use pedals with 25bars on break and nothing moves BUT the base part is the most problematic for me.
Am I not paying enough attention or is this 90% an Apex (got mine before they added the chair tray 😢) but with additional rigidity on the pedal tray and some corner brackets swapped in place of the pedal tray hangers? Looking at the site apparently I can het that chair tray separately so if I can get it sent to Canada I guess that is my solution moving back (already replaced the casters with feet but they still slip on carpet) when I get excited about braking or slamming down the clutch 😅. Next is either opt for the actual deat setup that I have no place to put when not in use 😔... Or find a comfortable chair that doesn't swivel!
@KarlGosling Thanks. That's what I figured but I paused the video with my Apex right in front of the TV and it sure looks like a lot of the same parts. Unfortunately I must fold mine away because the room is also my dedicated 9.2.6 home theatre LOL gotta' be able to stash it away when I want to watch a movie.
Hi Karl I’ve been looking for a good decent wheel stand and I found this one to be good enough but im just wondering I have a thrustmaster setup but how do i attach it to the stand? Does the stand come with the bolts I need to secure the wheelbase and pedals or I have to buy these bolts elsewhere?
Hi Karl, thanks for this video, I really need help here, I got a space problem and I cannot decide whether to buy the playseat challenge x or this wheel stand from omega, I got a gaming chair that is fixed to the ground with a heavy plate with no chair wheels. Looking forward for your advice
It's really not something I can tell you mate, everyone's needs are slightly different... what I will say though is a foldable cockpit like the PSCX or GT Omega Sprint is always better than a wheel stand IMO.

haha that’s why you told me to wait for a bit longer instead of getting the GT Omega Apex! 😅 Do you need to buy any extra screws or mounts to mount the fanatec dd csl wheelbase / pedals? And do you think this is worth the higher price? (compared to GT Omega apex) Thanks a lot, amazing videos as always!
hahahah yep that's why I didn't order that chair tray when they made one for GT omega Apex wheel stand. What I actually did is I tie around the bottom 2 feet of the wheel stand and around 2 of the wheels of the chair. So that way when I'm braking it's not lifting up, but again I'm not braking with a heavy load cell it's just measly G29 pedals (albeit I increased dead zone to about 51%, just where the pedal touches that rubber inside the pedal and that's where my starting zone is for braking and then I mash as hard as I can for 100%, kind of "imitating" load cell and pressure braking, much better then for what it is as default). But in any case I don't think any wheel stand no matter how robust is ready and capable for a DD. Even G29 is able to swing it to the side miniscule when I need to flick that wheel so fast and then flick back (where it starts to fight as I start searching for grip), let alone a DD running 5 or 8 nm. Wheel stand needs to be weighted down by converting it into cock pit with their upgrade kit to utilize those powerful wheels and pedals. I just hope APEX will be able to stand logitech G pro wheels.
That office chair is super basic and has a lot of flex so I'm not surprised by the movement on braking. A higher end chair won't have this issue, my main office chair is rock solid, nor would a very simple folding chair that doesn't distribute your weight.
I'd always suggest to someone to get a rig that you can physically sit on to really weigh it down. if its not fixed to anything, youre gonna rock it sideways when you get into tankslapper.
Beware the shifter mount. It will destroy your knee... just a matter of time. Terrible design. Avoid it. The Next Level 2 is 3 inches wider. I had to chuck the bracket away and create my own using steel brackets/wood... and a shifter stand... for another 80 quid.

And do you think this is worth the higher price? (compared to GT Omega apex)
Thanks a lot, amazing videos as always!
Exactly mate! lol
All bolted straight on for me, came with loads of mounting bolts.
Yes defo worth the money if you don't need it to fold away.
@@KarlGosling sounds great! 😆 I’ll get this then
I use an armchair with my stand - works great.
Excellent!
Kinda miss the actual test in a review. Thank you
Then you should have watched the whole video, it's there.
@@KarlGosling I truly must have missed it! 17:30 Thanks
hahahah yep that's why I didn't order that chair tray when they made one for GT omega Apex wheel stand.
Very cool speakers
Thanks mate, Jamos.
That office chair is super basic and has a lot of flex so I'm not surprised by the movement on braking. A higher end chair won't have this issue, my main office chair is rock solid, nor would a very simple folding chair that doesn't distribute your weight.
The video I've been looking for for days. I wish we met earlier. Thx Karl 👍
lol No worries mate!
that computer chair is done bud.
I'd always suggest to someone to get a rig that you can physically sit on to really weigh it down. if its not fixed to anything, youre gonna rock it sideways when you get into tankslapper.
Yeah wheel stands are really only for those that need them... like foldable rigs also.
the probnlem is that not everyone has the space for rigs
@@lor7780 well that's their problem.
@@Em-7Add11 what do you mean that's the entire point of these yet you are saying it's better to just get a rig.
@@lor7780 not my problem.
Still waiting on the US release lol
Nice one
A price hike of nearly 25%. Ouch!!
It was an error on my brief (I'm guessing someone forgot to add tax), this was never supposed to be the same price as the Apex which makes sense.
👍
Beware the shifter mount. It will destroy your knee... just a matter of time.
Terrible design. Avoid it.
The Next Level 2 is 3 inches wider.
I had to chuck the bracket away and create my own using steel brackets/wood... and a shifter stand... for another 80 quid.
Good to know mate.
