    Using pentatonics to outline the changes and improve phrasing is a brilliant way to hone your lead skills. An easier introduction to this than Little Wing is to use major pentatonics for Hey Joe (circle of fifths) ie C, G, D, A, E, gradually working in chromatics to improve the flow from one chord to the next. Anyway, bottom line is that this is an invaluable lesson, Chris. No wonder Marty Schwartz loves you.

    This is the first time that I've ever seen this Lil Wayne video I've been playing the song different stages of my development for 4 years now. As I I still didn't know the correct chord progression chord progression till I saw you write it out there so I wrote it down and tonight I'm going to watch his video 3 or 4 times I understood everything you did I don't know it in time for sure but this has to be the best little wing instructional I've ever seen and I've seen. And I've seen everybody's on UA-cam. Don't know how long that's been posted on your website or how I've missed it, this has always been one of my favorite songs it is just beautiful.. my personal opinion the most beautiful song ever writing. You'll be hearing from me this week I'm finally got my finances correct and a card again so I'm going to get back on your patron page I'm finding a lot of videos I don't know very precise in in the way that it's taught. II just comprehend what your trying to teach an I am going to conscientrait on your teaching to prepare my self for the next step I Wana take which is getting a band together an book gigs in our local area. I might even find myself in the position where I can pay for the extra instruction we'll have to see about that. Thanks again Chris I really appreciate your channel an the endless learning experiences I have had the last few yrs. You once wrote about a comment I made on an older gentlemans channel, goes along the lines, keep practicing Chad an you play like that to someday soon. I have never forgot that and I have never stopped trying to get better. I wish I would have some videos of how I played back then when you made that comment to what I play because 80% of that is from your channel and instruction. Don't know if you remember that but I sure do.

    CHRIS SHERLAND, The F major chord is the bVII chord which not in the key of G major or E minor. Did you mention in the video where this bVII chord comes from? Hendrix Purple haze solo you should do a YT lesson on because you can think of it as Major pentatonic/Major Hextatonic or Dorian.

    @curiousguitarist At 5:33 you're moving to Bm, presumably on the 1, and by my count you land on Am on the & of the 4? From then on you play like the Am was on the 1.
    It sounds good, but was it intentional? Is skipping half a beat common? Or am I missing something?

    • @curiousguitarist
      @curiousguitarist  Рік тому +1

      My intention here was that the Bm and the Am are both landing on the "one", but the Am is phrased as the last of a set of triplets. And as I review it, that is what I'm hearing. Without a metronome my strumming might have thrown you off, but as I count it, the landings are solid in that context.
      I'm also playing slightly behind the beat here as well. I'm sorry if it's not coming across well-enough.

    I never really realized until I saw it written out (how many people have actually bothered to read the charts to something that arguably is taught at 9/10 jam sessions, which is where I learned it) that it covers, very melodically I might add, EGABCFD, or rather, ABCDEFG. All the notes on the staff and decently jumped around intervallic runs lol nice...thanks for the breakdown and another well produced video!
