I only joined FFXIV about a year and a half ago. One of the earliest things I did is grab my FC, who were all people my partner and I dragged into the game with us, and haul them off to do The Binding Coil of Bahamut synced. Naturally once we hit Twintania, things went a little sideways, since we were basically all new. Eventually we got it down (we weren't min ilvl so it wasn't *that* bad, but definitely an interesting step up from everything we'd done in game so far), but the reason I bring it up is because after it became apparent that this was a serious raid fight, I went looking for a guide, and I found the one from MTQ. I was just thinking how wild it is is that 8 years ago, you were making comprehensive guides for the all-new raid content in FFXIV, and you're still here doing it for the new content that I can now do when its current. Thanks for all your hard work, Mizzteq! I'd say you have quite a legacy.
13:39 - HO-LY Smokes! That's some pinpoint dodging! This fight...is nuts. Hoped in with some friends for a learning party (and by "hoped in" mean "got drafted to tank"), had just started this video when we went in. Now watching the rest and (a) I think I'm understanding MOST of the mechanics a LOT better but also (b) good god, that's a LOT of mechanics and dodging! Amazing guide, as always! I'm going to get some serious use out of this one!
One thing I've learned is that the hitbox for players is absolutely tiny, it's basically a pinprick at the center of your character model. Once you realize this, you can get away with some seriously ludicrous positioning to avoid mechanics. This is going to be my first synced extreme (well, I've done synced ultima, ultima unreal and I think I might have done garuda, but I am not sure those really count as they were pretty easy). Some of those sections look pretty intense, but I am also excited!
A moment of pride, indeed. I'll admit I did clear after this video went up, but only by a couple hours and I hadn't watched it yet. As much as I like other youtubers that have their day1 guides, I really like that Mizteq uploads the settled in pf strats.
I remember watching clears of Classic WoW raids. These raids really had 3 mechanics and people were still messing it up... I cannot imagine the hell this fight would be to them
as a BLM main, a lot of this can be managed with efficient uses of triplecasts, sharpcast thunder and polyglots on top of slidecasting. compared to endsinger extreme, this fight is honestly a breeze as most of it's just pixel dodging
As a healer who doesn't do savage this boss was awesome, I want more like that. It made me use my entire kit and really push healing output at times during phase 2.
Give Sephirot Unreal a try! Due to the ilvl synch, damage hurts hard and you’ll need to put a little more effort into your healing. He has a lot of unavoidable raidwide attacks between mechanics that will murder your DPS (I find casters in particular are vulnerable). So it’s very important to ensure you have heals/mitigations ready.
@@toodleselnoodos6738 well considering casters have the least defence in theyre gear and have one of the lowest hps aswell they tend to fall victum if the healer isnt on time or if they dont use theyre mitigations when its newer content. over time it tends to give a bit more room for mistakes
@@angelofkhaosu8157 Well, it synchs to ilvl 565, so, essentially everyone is synch’d downwards. So, there’s no way for a caster to improve their survivability. @@toodleselnoodos6738 yeah it sure does,as a caster u tend to notice fast if the healers are to busy dpsing in harder content. but then again healer is likely alot more complex than most jobs to do properly. all the ogcds and doing both healing and dps when u can. would still say id prefer a healer doing a bit less dmg to make sure everyones alive over doing a lil bit more damage.
@@angelofkhaosu8157 Personal experiences, kinda have to. Lots of damage goes out very fast that uses up your resources. Even on WHM, I’ll opt for Thin Air+Cure III just to make sure I have lilies available for the mobile parts. On SCH, gotta be smart with the thick deploys. Too soon and it’ll miss some good mits or the galvanize part might get weakened, too late and you waste most of it. I don’t give a fuck about some of these “min-maxers” on Recitation usage. Crit+Spreadlo is very powerful. But mitigating really helps ease the burden of the pure healer. I’m just shit with AST. :(

The second tether mechanic lives rent free in my head. I can't dodge that shit to save my life. And then when I do dodge I feel like I'm too far to make it to my partner.
Her secondary image points to you then hits you with a flash before she hits with the damage, if you stare at the boss you should have time to scoot over a couple yalms while staying in clock positions
She will "Shine" and an after image will smack you before the line aoe shows up. Just dodge out of the way once you either see her shine or hear the audible sound she makes before striking. It's there. Plus it helps if you clarify for your party to fight her in a circle rather than stacked behind her like most do...Makes everything easier and flow smoothly.
I think he was referring to the 2nd Teasing Tangles (boss hair tether, dodging green tousles and AOE before pairing up with the partner) and not the Brutal Gust (which the one the other 2 comments were giving tips). I've been wondering about that too because sometimes it's easy to dodge but there are times where the AOEs are stacked too close that there isn't a safe spot nearby or get hit by the green tousles and end up dying 'coz I can't make it with the partner on time. At first I thought you can bait the AOEs but seems like the AOEs are fixed coz I sometimes get the easy one to dodge.
