  • I read of a possible workaround for the exposure preview issue. If you double click the Q button it’ll reset it. But you have to do it after every shot 😒

    A good reason to buy a more powerful light is you can gain shorter flash durations for a equivalent output of the less powerful light.

    very happy to find this video, this is some of the exact kind of work i'm looking to make and very happy to someone really clearly outline how the AD400 performs. Appreciated!

    Nice video. I’m always down for seeing how you approach your run-and-gun setups differently from the more static ones. I’ve been thinking for a while about using one of those collapsable folding wagons with the big wheels as a base of flash operations. The weight of the battery can be a plus if things get windy and you can use it as a form of ballast. Thank you for the informative content! 🙏🏻

    ROFL
    Loved the commentary. Real talk instead of fake UA-camr talk.
    I have 3 of the ad1200pros. Great light. I also have 3 of the Elinchrom ELB1200's. That shoot in HS instead of HSS. With the Godox outside I use ND filters and with a Canon 5ds R is makes focusing a bitch. With the Elinchrom in HS I don't lose near the power the Godox loses in HSS. So I still do use the Elinchrom outside a lot.
    But.
    The Elinchrom has problems staying connected to the transmitter. If I set 2 or 3 of them up I always have issues keeping them all firing. Not to mention the nightmare of how to differentiate them on the Transmitter. They get logged on the transmitter by serial number or the unit. Well if I have 3 ELB1200's how am I supposed to differentiate them? And who the hell knows the serial numbers. The Godox Transmitters are leaps and bounds better then the Elinchrom. Simple for Godox. A main, B fill, C Hair, D and E kickers.
    But, Elinchom still gives me that power in HS. So I deal with it.
    Now on days I don't need the extra power, Godox all day.
    When the High MP R5 comes out. Well that might shift things around and focusing and composition is easier with a mirrorless while using ND filters.

    Loved the video Cam! I have the 400, 600 and 1200 pro and love the 1200pro for all my commercial work. It's great in the studio, great on location and is just rock solid. While not a Broncolor Move pack, it's also not like $7k. The color, constancy and reliability has been exactly what I wanted when I bought it. The battery lasts forever and the recycle time is perfect. You won't regret picking one up. And now I sound like an AD... but seriously it's a great unit.

      If you were to rebuild your lighting workflow from scratch, with your experience, do you see yourself getting a second ad1200 for your workflow?

      @@jaijacobphoto316 That’s actually kind of a tough question. The ad1200 is fantastic and I have no issues recommending it. But for me, if I need more than just the 1200, then it’s about more actual lights vs individual strobe power. Meaning, if I’m shooting e-comm then I need two on the background, a main and possibly a fill. That’s 4 total lights and 4 ad1200 pro packs would def be overkill for that. But a pair of 400’s on the back, the 1200 as the main and a 600 as the fill is a great setup. But lifestyle and location work, a set of 1200’s with one extra battery would get you though a whole day of just about anything you could throw at it.

      @@ElBoyoElectronico The V1 in HSS is only putting out about 23 watts. Because of HSS. So a ND filter would be your best bet.

    Great vid. I got the ad1200 as my first godox light and in the process of switching my whole lighting workflow system to godox. I’m debating if I want to get another ad1200 or getting the monoheads like the ad600.

    • @mverick160
      @mverick160 3 роки тому +2

      If you get monoheads, you will, also get the extensions so the mono can be down on the ground or mount to the lightstand. Then when it tips over it doesn't get smashed.
      Almost all Godox lights have this option. Only ones I don't do this with is the 300 and 100. I even use the Ad200 pro with extension so I can boom it overhead for a hair light.

      The thing I hate about the AD600Pro and 600BM is the modeling lamp shuts off at 30-60mins. Does the 1200 modeling lamp stay on all day? If it were on AC power that is

    Are you referring to exposure simulation on the R5? When I shoot flash I turn that off and I think it solves the problem? Love your vids!

    • @cammackey
      @cammackey  3 роки тому +2

      Yes. Turning it on shows you an accurate representation of your exposure. Turning it off try’s to mimic a real optical viewfinder, by not showing you your current exposure. The problem is, when you use flash, that automatically switches to off. I want that on.

      @@cammackey In my Regular R the trick was to turn the camera already with the Trigger On top of it and ON. (or vice versa), try it ;) In studio I was with that always in OFF, but in daylight exterior shoots I like it On also. I didn't try (yet( my R6/R5 yet on the same conditions...
