I think it's really cool your DM decided to do this, that's really nice of them! I just wanted to add- the tarot thing doesn't have to be that way. There are people who choose to go by this and that's fine, but a lot of people buy their own first tarot deck (including me) and that's absolutely fine as well. As someone who has read tarot for 20 + years I just feel the need to point out when I see someone mention this that it doesn't HAVE to be that way. Too many people are afraid it's disrespectful to buy their own. This is my own personal hill 😅
you say you'll never need polyhedral dice on hand on any given moment, but let me tell you, I work with kids and the number of homework assignments that use polyhedral dice is astounding. Your dice presentation is so close to a "princess wave" that (for a moment there) I felt like I was in the presence of some kind of gaming royalty... Then I remembered that you also bring Jester to LIFE so you ARE gaming royalty!!!
Every time I order new dice, I always go through this period of dice craze when waiting for the order to arrive. And each time, I look up videos of other people’s dice boards or unboxings. I’m lucky I’m in a crazy right now, otherwise I could have missed this vid! The sets are adorable, and I love seeing how passionate people are about their dice collections.
I love to see the faces of people sharing things they are passionate about, especially when I share that passion. It's clear you love your dice and this makes me insanely happy.
"Wanna see my dice?" A classic gamer pick up liner. Most of my collection consists of a very random accumulation of dice, including ones that I have no idea where they are from, like a d6 with only 2s and 3s on it, or a d6 with playing card faces (nine, ten, jack, queen, king, ace), and even several customized d6s from several different nerdy weddings.
The one with the card faces is just a poker die for dice poker games like "Chapeau" (which of course is french for hat after the "hat" you roll the dice in like yahtzee). You need five of them though for that game , I always have a set with me my backpack in addition to rpg dice sets xD
I love this so much and I’m now craving more dice!!! As for never having use for polyhedral dice randomly: I was out with 2 of my best mates in the city, who happened to be my DM and a party member (the other member had been on hiatus from the campaign for ages) and I had forgotten to unpack my player sheet and 3 dice sets from my bag. We got a random urge to play d&d and the boys were both disappointed when they realised we didn’t have anything to play... except that I had enough dice for everyone and my character on me, the other player had his character sheet on his phone and the DM had enemy stats on him. So at 10pm, at a playground in the middle of the city, we pulled out our gear and started playing!
Morgan Ironwolf, my DND character from my second hundred years, lifted her head and said, "Nice Collection." Two whole words in a row, you really impressed her! She once went through two back to back battles without saying anything. She was real good at the raised eyebrow and the shrug. I really liked the way you expressed the beauty of your dice beyond their functionality. Good job. Now for the side bit that has nothing to do with dice. There are several companies that make Purple eyelashes. One has sparkly dots that look like glitter but are done with paint so they won't get glitter in your eyes. With that gorgeous shade of tint, in your hair, the soft lavender would be striking. I'm old and have to now live vicariously through young folks. Also, have you seen the elf ear cuffs? Made of silver wire with gemstones/crystals. If they had those in the 70s I'd still be wearing them now!! Aunt B
I only have one dice set, I got them at target over halloween. The brand is "okie dokie dice", they're purple and sparkly. I painted the numbers gold then black. And then I painted the the case the came in to look like an old wood chest, made a little bag, and then put dragon eyes on the button to the bag and little opener for the case. sadly I have not been able to use them
if you go onto Discord . com you can find tons of groups that host games, and many have open slots for people with no background or experience! Maybe check it out if you don't have any locals! ;D
I love how you put a story behind your dice which makes them so much more special when you use them. It gives you a good reason to get more for your narrative and also gives you a reason to tell your friends at the table that you’re not a crazy dice goblin and why you need a new set every week (I’m sorry my dear wallet)
I LOVE my Rime of the Frostmaiden dice. Semi-transparent (only the d4 is truly see through), darkish blue, and speckled. Plus it’s 2d20 and 4d6 so extra dice for rolling characters or fights
Me: I have this D60, that way I only need one die with me, as it divides up into every number. Efficiency! Also Me: Why yes, I *do* need a special colour coordinated set of dice for every RPG and Wargame...
@@danniemiesse4643 You can randomise: roll once as a d4, then again as odds/evens or high/low with one result being "add 4" to the d4 roll. You get a perfectly flat 1-8 chance. You can do this with pretty much any even number. You can even do some odd number combinations with some imagination. For instance 1-25 is two d10 used as d5s (divide by two and round up: first die is 1-5, second die is "add 0,5,10,15,20").
I loved this, mostly because I collect dice myself, and when I'm not picking dice based on their daily performance (I do a roll off before almost every session), I pick them based on my character, the setting, or my current mood. Some of my favorites are: Crystal Caste (I have Malachite set (discontinued) and a Hybrid Translucent set in green) - love the precious stone and the crystal shape they do many sets in Dispel Dice (I haven't been able to score any yet) - Some of the most beautiful and well crafted dice I've ever seen or touched...trying to be patient waiting for a chance to get more Q-workshop (I have Elvish, Dwarvish, and Druid)- I love the themes and colors, not to mention that they are very durable...
As someone who has just recently started playing d&d, it's cool to see a bunch of different dice to get a feel of what to look for. So thank you so much.
I suggest metal dice. I like the heft, but it's also an excuse to get a dice tray and tower. You don't want to damage anyone's table lol. It's really an excuse to get more things for the dice.
"I don't need more dice. I don't need more dice. I don't need more di--Ooooooo~ pretty!" I've ordered multiple dice sets from DakotaIrish on Etsy. I love the Irish Heather dice set that' has purple sparkles and flecks of gold inside. While I use a set of gold and green dice from B&N for my half-orcs, I use his Banshee glow-in-the-dark set when those are misbehaving. I also like SecretShopInDungeon dice sets. They also come in cool flasks! I bought the Hydra set from his dragon sets. While I don't think she currently has a shop, every time SoulBound Dice on twitter posts pictures of what she makes, I really wish she did.
Elfdragon12 Soul Bound Dice has a shop (I know because I own several dice from her). I follow her on Instagram and though she doesn't post very frequently, her stuff is gorgeous. Her shop updates are also infrequent but they do exist.
I came here after seeing your 2022 dice video. The brass CR set is amazing. That's so cool that you got them while they were available. Also, Kiki's Delivery Service!!! Please more dice videos!!! Make it a business expense!!!
This was really nice! As someone who's only started playing DND last year and only owns one set of dice, this was really cool to watch! As for that one set of dice, I *love them* very much. I bought them in at the 'Vintage Stock' store inside a real big mall in my area, the entire set is a mix of translucent sky blue and a marbley white. The mix is really wispy and leads into each other to the point that they straight up look like a cloudy sky and thus I call them my sky dice. They're really fitting for my first dice as my first DND character is a human druid who has light blue hair, loves nature, and has basically adopted our Kenku Bard who's only wish is to reach the skies. I plan on buying at least two more for the next two characters I'm already/am planning to play as. Need to find me a set that fits my Eladrin Sorcerer who's slowly turning into an ice dragon 'cause of a curse and a set that fits my half elf fighter who's the adopted son of some merchants and is only on his adventure so he can get him some independance. So basically need me some magicy-looking icy/dragon dice and some seafaring dice XD
I was honestly having a mental breakdown over all of my online schoolwork and state testing being cancelled so THANK YOU. This video has calmed me down and made my day! I love dice! ❤️❤️❤️
I freaking LOVE videos like this. This is what I feel nerd culture should truly be. People showing their favorite things with such enthusiasm. I generally main a rogue and have a set of skull d6s that I absolutely adore (specifically used for sneak attack damage)
I have a single d20 from that set - I bought it at gen con, it betrayed me and the guy at the counter let me swap it for a different one. This is now my favouritest die!
Honestly, I love these sit down and chat about small things sort of videos. When I first got into D&D I bought a marbled teal set with gold numbers. They are so gorgeous and go nicely with my dark teifling, Yin.
Dice are awsome! My Dad played DnD when I was little and his set was mix and match. We would paw through them for hours if he didn't catch us... my favorite was a pale wooden d10. Idk why.
I've been collecting dice since 1994. I also keep a set of dice for every character I have played, and I have separate dice for when I DM. While I have a large collection of sets of dice, I don't have any of the custom dice from Etsy or such. Yet. I have the "normal" size rainbow metal dice like the minis you showed....and I now MUST acquire a set of those minis. I even have a set of 4 D6s that are Barbie Doll size (I used to use those primarily for character creation). They are so tiny though, and easy to lose, so now they mainly sit unused, except when I show them to people who've not seen such tiny dice before. I loved your video, and I do think I also have the teal frosted Chessex set (I have SO MANY sets of Teal-Coloured dice, as Teal and Violet are my favourite colours).
Yes!!! I too am dice obsessed and help run the Dice Maniacs’ Club Facebook group! Totally going to share this vid there. There are so many amazing makers out there right now! My favorites are handmade sets. I have one on the way from Soulbound Dice, I also love Quartzwork, Alchemical Gems, Gentle Goblin, Touchstone Dice, _krystyna_91, and so many more! I’d always love to see more of your dice!
a persons collections can tell you a lot about that person. you can always tell if they are collecting because their friends are or if its something they themselves enjoy. in that way a collection is like a tattoo. if you only get it to please others and don't take care of it that will show. this video showcased more then the dice it showed the heart behind them. keep sharing your passion for d&d with the world because that spark it brings to you spreads like wildfire. burn bright the world needs that kinda energy right now
love dice :D and special Dice bags/boxes. and as a necromancer i made a skull where i keep my dice. :D a smoky clear plastic skull the same size as a real skull where there where candy in from Halloween, i put hinge and lock on, and red fabric inside. :)
My rule is that I buy two sets of dice specific for my character whenever I start a new character or a new campaign. My current gloomstalker uses one set of matte black dice and one set of iridescent forest green dice.
I love seeing your favorite dice! It also helps to see them move a little, because like you said, the pictures sometimes don't do them justice! Thanks for sharing!
I love seeing all the dice! I recently started playing D&D end of last year and I have realized how much I like dice. My collection is steadily growing. Right now I’ve gotten most of the dice from CriticalRole’s store but in the future plan on picking some up from conventions and other stores online or in person.
"Dice sets" as a concept makes very little sense to me since most of the rpgs I play are not D&D adjacent. That having been said that Astral Sea d10 is gorgeous.
I started gaming in the mid 90's, and while you could buy dice in sets then most people, at least that I knew, bought them piece meal from a bucket at the counter. Basically the only people who bought sets of dice were people who played D&D. And I have realized I am an old man yelling at a cloud.
@@chrishandy9172 I started gaming in the late 80s in a very large farm town. When I asked the bookstore (where I bought my first gaming book) where I could get dice, they gave me a business card for a fellow who lived on a farm, collected dice, and had a small barn (large shack?) which contained several dice-buying options. I bought a set of amethyst dice that came in a blister pack with a small velveteen bag. To this day, that was the strangest purchase experience I have ever had.
My top 5 sets: • Chessex Borealis Confetti. Ridiculously rare, stunningly beautiful and a total bugger to photograph - and I traded for them. They roll terribly though • AKO Dice - Metal, blue and silver (I’m an Orlando Magic fan) and the D4 has a clever way of reading • I have that Moonstone Dreamwalker set too, and I love dice that do stuff - like iridescence… • Chessex Scarab Scarlet - …and blacklight reactivity. These look like they’ve been infused with Extremis… • and a custom set of DBZ dice. Each one has between 1-7 Red stars in them, but I haven’t tried to summon Shenron yet. For one thing I don’t fancy travelling the world trying to get them all back…
Back when I played D&D and AD&D in the late 70's and early 80's, dice were pretty generic. Assorted colors but not the cool dice you have. Dice sets are definitely collectible! Thanks for sharing your sets with us!
With the metal leaf dice, I could definitely see painting a set for each season, pink for spring, Green for summer, Reds yellows and oranges for autumn, and blue and white for winter
I always keep a set in my backpack, too! Myself and a friend once took them to dinner and rolled percentile dice to choose our menu items, and what we ended up with was delicious! It was a fun surprise. All your dice are so so lovely! Thank you for the calming content.
I’m sure this comment section is abandoned, but I’ll try and ask. Do you prefer metal or resin dies? I can’t pick all the resin dies look super cool and metal ones just look epic most of the time. Figured I’d ask for your personal pro and cons from each type.
You’re in luck, happened to see this when checking my analytics! It’s totally personal preference - some people prefer lighter weight dice because they roll more times once they land on the surface, whereas others prefer metal because of the weight and the solidity of the roll. Metal dice tend to “plonk” and don’t get much distance when they roll. If you have a friend who owns any or a local gaming store that would let you, you should try ‘em out and see which camp you fall into!
YES TO DICE! They are gorgeous. It's also always fun watching people share videos of things they like. It's fun to listen to people talk about things they're excited about. Also the fact you keep a set in your purse makes me feel so validated. I don't keep dice, but I carry a few bronze coins to use for coin flips.
I was given multiple sets of dice for Christmas and I was so pleased. One was a semi clear orange set that had leaves in them for my Ranger and another set had Celtic knot looking designs on them around the edges as well as the numbers.
I can relate to the dice obsession. I tend to use my older dice because of all the history. One or two sets came in D&D starter boxes & would be familiar to many. My most heavily used sets are blue and brown -- and have glitter inside! Then, there's my translucent dice that I rarely use because they are too pretty to use.
Have played AD&D 2e since the 1980s. Still use the same set of Clear Orange dice. We always called them Gem Dice. But now that's something else. My D20 rolls a crazy amount of natural 20s. My DM tried to ban it...! They are old friends, I couldn't Adventure without them...
Thank you so much for sharing this! I just started my collection by that I mean that I just bought 26 sets at once in a bundle for a surprisingly good deal (an average of $1.75 per set) and I love seeing others' collections! One of the sets that I got has a sorta galaxy kind of vibe, with purples, blues, and pinks all swirling together with sparkles and is my absolute favourite that I got. All of your dice are SO pretty and I seriously want more of my own even more now. Loved this video!
I started with one pretty purple/teal swirl dice set when I first started playing D&D a couple years ago. Between me and my husband, we now have way more dice sets than we could ever use in one game. I don't know how it happened, but I love them all. ☺️ I really enjoyed seeing your dice collection and I have always wanted a gemstone set. They're so pretty!
Thanks for sharing! I cut myself off at about 8 sets because I couldn't find any more colors that went with my "Elemental/Druid" Theme (lots of blues, greens, browns, blacks, and other metallic/mineral-like colors, pretty much all from Chessex.) I also have the copper "Easy Roller Dice" set which I believe they rebranded for Critical Role with a unique D20. It's great when I'm traveling or only want to use a single set (though it does tend to skew lower on rolls.) I actually got it from Dog Might Games as a free gift when they mistakenly sent me two of the same Dice Box. Not a bad exchange for return shipping! As a collector, I'm happy to hear you got such a cool set while it was still available!
Like Ginny Di, I had a large collection of dice, but, the old saying goes like this. "Don't put all your pearls in one place". On the after noon of Sep 8, 2020 a fire swept down the middle of the valley i live in and took my home and car. I walked out literally with only the clothes on my back. I had a lot of old dice not found and now it's all gone. My advice is keep things in several places.
Yeah! I've noticed that D&D girls ALWAYS love to show off their dice; they are proud of their dice collections and you are no exception. And might I add, they are quite lovely! I'd be proud of them! My favorite that you showed in this video is the Violet Incantation set; indeed, I totally get the Magical Girl vibe from them; I LOVE Magical Girl manga and anime and I've been into it since I was a kid. My favorites are Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura (I especially like it when there's a Magical Boy involved, like Li Syaoren - they make the magic feel "equal-opportunity" to me). I love the sparkles and the stars and moons on them; totally sparkle-tastic!
Comin in 2 years late, but i only recently discovered ginny. Thank you for sharing your dice collection! Being a fellow dice-nut, i usually gift myself the chessex pound o' dice every christmas, i really like seeing what dice other gamers collect. I have several that are near and dear; the Golden BB, the Eternity Shard and Skippy, do NOT anger Skippy and do NOT attempt to jinx Skippy. The last time it was attempted (3 weeks ago) it retaliated with 3 Nat 20s. Had i not personally witnessed the spectacle i would not have believed it either. I also have the chessex teal frosted set, i use it for my Monk. Oh, and thanks for all the dice links!!!!😍😍😍😍
Thank you, for posting something much more light hearted. I can say I'm not much of a dice goblin but I can totally appreciated that you are. My wife can't pass up the opportunity to snatch up some shiny dice. The purple magic ones you use for Nightshade are awesome.
I've played table top games in on form or another since I was 12 back in the 70's so it's been a LONG while. That being said I LOVE dice. I'm the typical long term gamer and have the mandatory purple Crown Royal bag filled with random dice. Including one of my first sets or dice (the plain hard plastic dice that were pretty much all you could find in the beginning) which have been used so much over the years that the D10's are so worn that they no longer have edges and are pretty much round. I've also have a number of different sets that serve as color codded sets for various things. My bag literally runneth over with dice.
I'm always blown away at the variety of dice, now. Back in the day we used to go ape shit over transparent, colored dice (a "clear" step or two up from the six-dice set that came with the D&D Basic boxed set). They were still cheap and get gouged if you shook your dice bag too much, and we'd kill a little time by coloring in the numbers with crayon (if you don't like the color, just rub it out with a paper towel).
4:30 I feel you, there is a dedicated place in my backpage for an emergancy dice cup with a set of Kraken Dice in them, just in case. People frequently ask me what that case might look like and I don't have an answer for that but that's the point, you never know!

I'll watch this video about cosplay because I too cosplay! -> Sees you post about D&D "Oh I've played a few times, cool!" -> Watches Critical Role a bit because you said it's good -> *Accidentally starts a D&D group with recently reunited high school friend group because of your videos & critical role* -> *Watches you excitedly talk about your dice & makes me feel better about my sudden need to horde all the dice like a dragon*
So yeah. Glad I found you & absolutely do more dice haul vids, I will watch them all ten times over so you can call it a tax write off, lol!
No you're feeding my dice addiction! I'll have to buy more dice now after I've seen all your beauties *dice goblin stare intensifies*
that was my thought exactly. I spent a good few minutes googling "miniature dice sets" because i love the look of them just in terms of size.
Who doesn't love shiny click-clack rocks??? My favourite is a carved Amethyst gemstone set my boyfriend got me for my birthday, from Norse Foundry! :)
Your dice presentation is so close to a "princess wave" that (for a moment there) I felt like I was in the presence of some kind of gaming royalty...
Then I remembered that you also bring Jester to LIFE so you ARE gaming royalty!!!
Goblin brain: pretty math rocks make nice click clack sound.
UA-cam Notifications: Wanna see my dice collection?
Me: Why, yes I would love too!
I really appreciate all the links in the description, I was getting hyped about all the dice and checked there first, you never disappoint! ;D
I really liked the forest 3D dice, and I love the idea about two sets painted for different seasons. That's real dedication ^_^
That all-in-one use of a d60 is a really interesting concept (tho I'm a magpie with dice, so I'd never commit to it). How do you do d8s?
d8 fail ;-)
@@danniemiesse4643 You can randomise: roll once as a d4, then again as odds/evens or high/low with one result being "add 4" to the d4 roll. You get a perfectly flat 1-8 chance. You can do this with pretty much any even number. You can even do some odd number combinations with some imagination. For instance 1-25 is two d10 used as d5s (divide by two and round up: first die is 1-5, second die is "add 0,5,10,15,20").
@@CorwinAlexander or just roll again if you're above 56. You'll only need the second roll about 6% of the time
But the D120 makes an impressive sound when it rolls...
I loved this, mostly because I collect dice myself, and when I'm not picking dice based on their daily performance (I do a roll off before almost every session), I pick them based on my character, the setting, or my current mood. Some of my favorites are:
Crystal Caste (I have Malachite set (discontinued) and a Hybrid Translucent set in green) - love the precious stone and the crystal shape they do many sets in
Dispel Dice (I haven't been able to score any yet) - Some of the most beautiful and well crafted dice I've ever seen or touched...trying to be patient waiting for a chance to get more
Q-workshop (I have Elvish, Dwarvish, and Druid)- I love the themes and colors, not to mention that they are very durable...
I don't need more di--Ooooooo~ pretty!"
I've ordered multiple dice sets from DakotaIrish on Etsy.
People being excited about the things they enjoy is always a fun and pleasant experience, thanks for sharing! 😊
It’s “time for death” this is now my new phrase to use whenever I role a 20. Watch out friends lmao
This video was light hearted, calm, and enjoyable.... A welcome moment in these dark times.
The set that matches your hair! YES I need a set of that color I love that shade!
I have a single d20 from that set - I bought it at gen con, it betrayed me and the guy at the counter let me swap it for a different one. This is now my favouritest die!
I am a nerd, a DM, a player, & love collecting dice. This is great! Please keep collecting & making videos
oh my god you guys remember in march when everyone was addressing how crazy the world was. such weird times. nice dice btw
Loved this. I want to go dice shopping now.
The 1 person who disliked probably has no concept of d&d, and dice hoarding or has the blandest set of Dice and rolls like Wil Wheaton!
WHEATON!!!!
a persons collections can tell you a lot about that person. you can always tell if they are collecting because their friends are or if its something they themselves enjoy. in that way a collection is like a tattoo. if you only get it to please others and don't take care of it that will show. this video showcased more then the dice it showed the heart behind them. keep sharing your passion for d&d with the world because that spark it brings to you spreads like wildfire. burn bright the world needs that kinda energy right now
Ginny: Do you wanna see my dice colle-
Yes. Yes I do.
"Wanna see my dice?" is a strange enough pick up line that you would have my attention. If only out of curiosity.
love dice :D
and special Dice bags/boxes.
and as a necromancer i made a skull where i keep my dice. :D
a smoky clear plastic skull the same size as a real skull where there where candy in from Halloween, i put hinge and lock on, and red fabric inside. :)
This was the exact sort of chill vibe I needed this morning. Would love more dice videos!
I read the title in the theory of "do you wanna date my avatar?" and now i'm kinda dissapointed that is isn't a music.
But also, yay Dice
I will always watch videos of dice collections. I love seeing what other people collect and how their dice contrast to my own tastes.
NEVER HAVE I CLICKED SO FAST... DICEEEEE
This "silly little video" just made my day, almost 4 years late. Thanks for sharing your shinies and all that you do, Ginny! :)
shiny rock, SHINY ROCK
My top 5 sets:
• Chessex Borealis Confetti. Ridiculously rare, stunningly beautiful and a total bugger to photograph - and I traded for them. They roll terribly though
• AKO Dice - Metal, blue and silver (I’m an Orlando Magic fan) and the D4 has a clever way of reading
• I have that Moonstone Dreamwalker set too, and I love dice that do stuff - like iridescence…
• Chessex Scarab Scarlet - …and blacklight reactivity. These look like they’ve been infused with Extremis…
• and a custom set of DBZ dice. Each one has between 1-7 Red stars in them, but I haven’t tried to summon Shenron yet. For one thing I don’t fancy travelling the world trying to get them all back…
And I always carry a set. Never knowingly unarmed.
Starting equipment:
17 sets of bone dice
Yes to more please. Your presentations are awesome so I fully support all of this plan.
I've watched this video twice now and its one of the cutest most wholesome things I've ever seen.
This video is such a great light in this dark time. Thanks for sharing your passion and brightening my day!
Love seeing all of your favorite dice!!
I like collections and i like having a consistant colour theme so appreciated the backstories that went with your dice.
All RPGers are obsessed with Dice. Very pretty dice. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for sharing! I cut myself off at about 8 sets because I couldn't find any more colors that went with my "Elemental/Druid" Theme (lots of blues, greens, browns, blacks, and other metallic/mineral-like colors, pretty much all from Chessex.)
I also have the copper "Easy Roller Dice" set which I believe they rebranded for Critical Role with a unique D20.
I loved to see your face brighten up with each set. You can can tell you are so in love with them. Thanks for the video.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who carries a set of dice in their purse lol They're all so pretty!!
I was looking forward to a dice mountain but this was some nice positivity
I played D&D for the first time last night and now I'm trying to find the *perfect set*. This was really helpful in seeing what kinds there are!
Scorched rainbow EVERYTHING! Also AB finish on everything!!!! AAAAH sparklez! Love your dices!
I almost thought this was ASMR when the video started bc it was instantly relaxing lol
It's nice to have pleasant people talk about things they enjoy :)
Don't know how durable the interest in dice would be, but this video was nice :)
Love love love a wholesome fancy dice video!
As someone who just recently got into D&D this makes me so jealous yet I love it!
