@@RybonatorI was thinking along the Divinity Original Sin 2: Impish Pocket Realm. Lots of traps where the dice is an artifact in the center of the dungeon and every turn it changes sides and new enemies or traps are added. And once players get into the center, they fight a boss that uses the dice to manipulate the board.
@@Rybonator after looking at the coins, I grabbed some of those as well. I’m thinking the boss can use the coins during combat, or while the players are going through the dungeon, at will and with only a cooldown for each coin. The coins will summon predetermined monsters that are mini bosses and will give the boss a chance to make a challenge without relying on pure chance. Honestly now I’m going to make my outline and draw up the structure today.
I backed this on kickstarter already, and I appreciate this video for giving a sense of scale for the dice and the coins. Definitely a loot goblin, love my metal coins
Greetings, Sam Zhao here. Thank you oh Great Rybonator for another awesome video! If I knew you'd be showing my unbearable handwriting to the world... Hello Mr. Zhao! I backed this and just got it. It spins really well except on the D4 side where it doesn't spin at all unless I hold it upside down so that the back of the spinner isn't pressed against the housing. How should I go about fixing that? Does graphite lubricant work well, or another method for freeing up the spinner, or will I have to send it in and wait for a working replacement to be sent?
Talk about timing. I saw this on kickstarter yesterday and was debating about it and here you come with another kickstarter a day later and just make me even more tempted than I was yesterday. Curse you and your persuasiveness and impeccable timing sir. Sigh back to kickstarter I go, the shiny is calling.
I don't play DND but I love your videos so much and WOW these dice are unreal. That bronze one would have a place in my collection of trinkets for sure. Gorgeous, so pretty!!
@@Rybonatoromg I'm having so much fun! A friend commissioned me to make individual dice for each player in an upcoming campaign, so that's been a fun project- the changeling got multichrome shifting pigments, the human/gelatinous cube hybrid got a transparent green base with glowing opaque smoky centers, and the human got an opaque gold and transparent red dirty pour, so at times you can see the gold through the red. Just gotta work up the strength to polish them all!
Just funded! You really weren't lying about the price. Got 1 LOTD, a leather pouch, 6 coin set + 1, and the Early bird bonus, which should come out to 4 free mystery coins! Very excited, going to have lots of heavy shiny things on my desk :D
I backed this kickstarter yesterday, and surprised to see a video review already. So glad that there is one, as you've shown off all 3 products really well, and just confirmed my choices of items. I'm getting 2 lotd (one in normal gold as the dark parts make the art pop, and one in gunmetal grey inked), a set of 6 coins (also in normal gold because of the same reason), and a leather pouch for the coins. Now I've seen your video, I can't wait even more to get them :D
@@Rybonator I just had a thought about the coins. I think they are reuses from the d6's because they're really cheap on the kickstarter, and it'd make sense to reuse materials rather than spend money on getting more to make them. Also "lore" wise, they'd look like part of a set of coins and dice.
i love the Gunmetal colour, and the Minotaur design! I thinks these will be very useful on a crowded table of goodies and snacks when you dont have the area to have a bunch of dice trays out. thanks for the preview. Kickstater is funded.
Just found your videos a week or two ago and have been really enjoying it, so imagine my surprise seeing a new one filter into my feed! Happy days. I hope you, your wife and your kids are all healthy and happy and that dice work (when able) gets to go on!
based on this video i ordered one... and its more beautiful in real life than it is on this video. you are correct about the spinning FOREVER though you have to stop it or enjoy several minutes of spin.
I was thinking something similar.. since the pictures are asymmetric near the center, someone with a good eye could probably memorize what it looks like when 15-20 is up, and get it most of the time.
Got here late but I believe that if they added a flapper, like in a spin wheel, on the inside of each face it would: 1- Make it stop on its own faster; 2- Add a nice clicky sound to your spins; 3- prevent the sides from spinning loosely to their heaviest part when not horizontal. Shouldn't be too hard. A piece of spring attached to the center mass and a small bump on the underside of each wheel behind each number division. Maybe you could give them this feedback for a future upgraded version.
Well, now I need to build an extra large dice tower that can roll these. Love those dice boxes, shame it won't fit the larger dice but I can think of many uses for one.
1:49 "I love this so much _CLUNK_ " 2:08 oh well that's just _hilariously_ unsatisfying 😆😆 (now my brain is going to be chanting, "know it know it know it" for the following approximately 8 days 😅 ) 6:40 oooo that's incredibly cool looking Thanks for showing off these products! I love the coins, the dice boxes are just so elegant looking, and the die/dice set is like.. what an amazingly cool idea!!
Depending how they make the coins/dice faces, the slant could also be for removing them from the mold, makes it able to be removed without damaging either the piece or mold. In terms of reusing the molds, both the dice faces and the coins likely reuse the "front" mold, and the coins use a shaped cap piece while the dice faces use a flat cap piece, likely with a center pin or however they do their axle.

at 1:55 where the black design is, there could be added a button with a spring that when pressed, lets the adjacent spiners free to spin, and when released, it stops them. I bet it would a mechanical nightmare to do. Still easier with the finger though. lol They look sick and I love it.
So glad that UA-cam decided to throw this into my feed. Got in to the preorder. What a cool product! Not necessarily convenient if you need to roll different dice (d20 followed by d8, etc.), or multiple dice, but I don't care. It's just that nice looking of a product. Cheers!

Well the kickstarter is over now, and shipping has started, but was some cool metal dice called Flipdie. Coin dice, and internal mechanism thingy to have a ball land out at one of the points.
to fix the spin forever (if you have access to the insides) you could install something like a clicker flag (like on other wheels that slow it down and help it stop(usually used as the mark for what it stops on)) and that could help alot. it would only spin a couple rounds before stopping on a number.
One thing i'll note that you should consider if you want these to be usable ingame is the number distribution. Having the dice count. 1,2,3,4,1 loop is an unfair distribution for purposes of spinning. I'd suggest searching for mathnatically uniform scrambles (dont know any off top of head, dart board would be an example). Eg. 1,3,2,4,1. As this would add to the dices use case as a tool of randomness. Of course having them count 1,2,3,4,1 is aesthetically pleasing so their still nice

These look really cool! My only gripe is with the dice boxes and it's the same gripe I have with all dice boxes really, the fact you can basically only get like 1 or 2 sets in. I'm a DM and I bring a lot of dice because I supply them for several other groups including my own (lots of new members who don't own dice), so boxes that only take a couple sets are useless to me. So many places sell boxes but they're always so small, I'd love to find a company (preferably UK based because shipping is often ridiculous) that makes big boxes so I don't have to keep using Pokemon tins because they're really annoying to carry around.
As a fellow DM- I can agree with your point. Bigger dice boxes all around! I did do a review on a book version of one that's pretty large if that's what you are looking for! ua-cam.com/video/9WRn-K0uOcc/v-deo.html
these looks awesome. second time i've backed a kickstarted you've shown, hopefully this one ends up better than last time. i'm still waiting on the led D20s lol
I like the box's however i will have the same issue as i have larger dice as well. So a simple way to resolve that would be add a riser to the box as an option I think and it would be cool to mix and match the box's.
The fact one of these are less than 50 dollars to ship to the states is reason enough for me to buy one! Bless the youtube algorithm for bringing me here
Glad to see another video from you since your big return! These are so interesting, I'd say my favorite face has to be the Phoenix. The boxes look bad ass too! Take care and keep up the great video work.
Backed! I tried to use your link by texting it to my self and opening it in that app on the iPhone. Hopefully that worked! These look like good gifts for my players.
One minor issue I can imagine is accurately determining what the dice role was. The rolling wheal will easily gather momentum from your finger as you're lifting it back off. So if you don't keep your finger on the wheel once it's 'stopped', you'll easily flub the roll. I don't know if there's an easy mechanical way to prevent that issue, or even if it will be a big deal. But I can imagine one possible solution: what if the 'pointer' were a rotatable part, where one orientation causes a small metal pointer to overlap with the wheel, thus physically stopping it from spinning, while rotating the pointer away from the wheel allows the wheel to spin freely. You might even add a internal spring into the pointer so that it snaps back into the 'stopped' position once released (if that makes sense).
A game that the entire game is on a cube, puzzle solving style, with the cube able to change shape on a side to do thing on, but it default form would be a dice looking cube. It would be an amazing game!
I would add a magnetic detent to each disk. That way, the disk will not spin so long and will always land on a number exactly. Below the disk can be a ring of teeth. A magnet on the disk would be attracted only to the teeth of the ring. One tooth on the ring, per number on the disk. The momentum of the spinning disk will push past the teeth, until the disk loses momentum, where the magnet on the disk will stop at one of the teeth. Several ways to configure it, but in the end, a detent could be a good option.

I clicked the link in the description but it wouldn't let me select my country when I tried to order one since I am in Canada.
The evident draft in the coin design also prevents the coin from landing on its edge
Ohhh I hadn't thought of that!
these looks awesome. second time i've backed a kickstarted you've shown, hopefully this one ends up better than last time. i'm still waiting on the led D20s lol
I have heard that pixel dice is having a rough time fulfilling, but hopefully they get some things coming out soon!
I like the box's however i will have the same issue as i have larger dice as well. So a simple way to resolve that would be add a riser to the box as an option I think and it would be cool to mix and match the box's.
Today I Learned: Rybonator is a dragon in human disguise.
this will make a nice christmas gift for my dnd group.
might get on of each once i get paid.
The fact one of these are less than 50 dollars to ship to the states is reason enough for me to buy one! Bless the youtube algorithm for bringing me here
Bro u got a link to buy this dice?
Watching this and on the coins part, the Kraken has eyes on the heads side, but is definitively a difficult to tell coin
Another upload!! Incredible dice, thanks for the review ❤🎉
Doing what I can to get em out! Thank YOU for watching :)
I want a gun metal set of all of these items 4:37 😅
FYI, "dice" is plural. "One die...." is the phrase you're looking for in the title/thumbnail.
I love the bronze so much over the gold. I think I just like earth tones better. Also the Minotaur was amazing to see.
Glad to see another video from you since your big return!
These are so interesting, I'd say my favorite face has to be the Phoenix. The boxes look bad ass too!
Take care and keep up the great video work.
Thank you my friend :) Glad to be able to make some stuff! Feels good to get back at it
Backed! I tried to use your link by texting it to my self and opening it in that app on the iPhone. Hopefully that worked! These look like good gifts for my players.
Thanks for using my link to back my friend! I really think you'll like these :)
@@Rybonator Sent the link to my players - there are a few dice hoarders in that crew.
Backed the kickstarter cause I’ve been playing DnD virtually for ages but figured it’d be nice to have a unique “die” to roll with now!
I don't even play tabletop games any more. But goddamn, the impulsive urge to buy this stuff..
Oh MAN. That kraken in a dark gold... Bronze, Or brass... Really would scratch my aquatic itch. I will say, Though, The phoenix coin looks amazing.
You might even add a internal spring into the pointer so that it snaps back into the 'stopped' position once released (if that makes sense).
such a satisfying fidget spinner and dnd practical i need one
2:12 Brooklyn 99 reference was great.
I'll take the credit, but legit didn't know it was from that lol. Been annoying my wife with that saying for almost a decade now
Can confirm
5:42 ahhh love that pun! Heads and tails!
Just so it's known: the sides are d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, and d20. So there is no d100 or percentiles, which means spinning the d10 side twice.
Good looking out! Yeah you have to spin the d10 twice for percentiles
just been on and back this, getting Lord of the Dice plus the pouch for it to go in, looking forward to this
A game that the entire game is on a cube, puzzle solving style, with the cube able to change shape on a side to do thing on, but it default form would be a dice looking cube. It would be an amazing game!
Minutaur on the gunmetal dice; I am backing it because of your video. Thank you!
I shared this video with my husband. He's hella excited.
Nice! I am sure y'all will like them :)
This video made me back the kickstarter. Looking forward to getting my bigass superdice!
You, my friend, have interesting things to say, and you say them well. It doesn’t take much, I’m just so tired of all these tubers with no speaking talent reviewing stuff like “So yeah… um… that’s really annoying, and like… this thing doesn’t really make any sense… well at least to me…. But overall, I really like this set, I just think it’s really nice. So okay guys, that’s it for this video, guys. I hope you liked it guys, okay bye guys!“
I appreciate that my friend! I try and make my reviews concise and clear. Glad to know it doesn't go unnoticed :)
Just got my 3 from the Kickstarter. Fantastic quality and they do spin like that forever haha
the angle on the coins might be because they are molded instead of stamped or CNC. they need the angle so that they come out of the mold.
Good point! I hadn't even thought of that. Not a dealbreaker for me in any way, and it's super minor, but that makes sense for an explanation!
Wow just checked out the kickstarter and they're doing great. I'd certainly buy one if they make a line of these. I love the idea of it doubling as a fidget spinner cause I'd probably use it for that a bunch ngl.
Is that an aggie ring I saw there at the end?
Class of '16 Whoop!
@Rybonator Whoop! I'm class of '24 and I just got my ring a couple months ago. It's cool to see that one of my favorite creators has something in common with me!
Ayy congrats! I might see you in Wellborn traffic sometime
Although I'm not usually a fan of metal dice, I would make an exception for these! Keep it up! New subscriber here! ❤
Welcome to the channel my friend :)
