The complete lack of empathy in these comments show why it'll never be popular to get this man help. I hope he gets some real guidance one day but I fear it'll be too late. How many of these people claim we should "help our own" but look down on them when the time comes?
Evidence that losers respond to "real guidance"? I grew up with people like this, just a bunch of windandpss merchants who can't be bothered to have personal responsibility and accountability. Blame everybody else and depend on the naive and stupid to make excuses on their behalf.

The bit where they show 6 prime ministers and little change put things into a lot of perspective about how the time goes by sometimes. And how in all their time and power, they all failed.
These so called hostels should be rehabilitation style centre's where mental health is addressed properly and these people have no access to drugs whatsoever and are given the right help by teams of people to change lives around it would cost the state the same amount of money but the long term gains would be worth it 👌
wow. trying to recover from an addictive substance in a place full of other users sounds like hell.. absolutely not surprised people struggle without a safe environment and the correct support. These people are truly forgotten and ignored in society. We as a nation should be ashamed.
It doesn't matter what help someone like this receives, they'll always be a problem. Imagine the amount of opportunities he's had over the years and he's thrown them all away....
146 Illegal immigrants have just been moved into The dragonfly Hotel in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire whilst our own are homeless, the media are keeping that quiet.
They put them into hostels which is good because it gets them off the streets but they leave them to get on with it. They need more support. It’s not just about finding them somewhere to live there are often other issues like MH/addiction and if those are not solved then they are setting them up to fail.
We're paying millions per day to house people not even born here, there's no point dying on the hill of benefit fraud when it's a drop in the ocean. Billions printed out of nothing to blow up a shed in Donbass. Pointless
Surely the best way to help this man and thousands like him would be too 1. Open large scale addiction treatment centres where people sign themselves up to and then are forced to stay for a few months to re-educate them and re-programme their minds while they get the emotional and nental health support they desperately need. 2. Much stricter jail sentences for those who sell drugs. I'd personally build a super prison in a place like Rwanda and put the people involved in drug gangs out there without all the luxuries they get in UK jsils amd let that be a deterrant to sell drugs - this in turn will force addicts off drugs. 3. Stop giving addicts and those in hostels all sorts of benefits - the money is a temptatikn to spend on habits. Replace money with meals served to them and clothes purchased for them. People will say who will fund all of this but they fund themselves once the negatives they remove from society are eliminated.
there is nothing to be done with addicts while drugs are around. why people cling to drugs because some people have difficulty, same thing as why people pray to jesus or why people drink if they have problems.
I think what many people don't understand about poverty is that there are probably two different kinds of poverty. Drugs, and economic poverty. The latter can be helped by good policies and a bit fairer distribution. The former though, can't be helped. Drug addiction is simply black hole that gobbles up all money and help, leaving no progress and always wanting more.
In the future, guide dogs will be replaced by guide robots. They will help in all disabilities and walks of life and act as servants to the homeless to teach and organise and protect them. I will name this model of robot Robo Hobo and hobo will be the future of addiction control.

Corrupt government can't stop or reduce homelessness, only the wonderful charities and volunteers help!❤
He says it out loud and nobody listens.
The problem is mental health.
And its not being addressed.

England needs to take care of their own citizens first.
He should count his blessings, he got free accomodation, in the US he would sleep under a bridge.
I'd rather be in the US woods than A UK city
In Switzerland, he would get even more.

People in the US don't care about the homeless, I think that's a mistake, saying that, there are thousands of people sleeping rough in the UK.
