- (See also LISBON • THE LOOK of LISBON ) High on a hill in the Alfama district sits this icon of Lisbon. Inhabited from the 7th century BC, it has a varied and fascinating history - Iron Age settlement, home to the Romans, Moorish castle, military barracks, royal palace and now one of Lisbon's top tourist attraction. Not been to Lisbon, so enjoyed this film. Most impressed that even with the tram available you all walked up the hill - well done.
Wow! Another triumph! We were in Lisbon last year and loved it.
Lisbon looks really interesting. Loving the streets in Portugal and Spain videos-maybe someday! More climbing ;-). Thanks for posting another great and informative video!
Belle promenade historique........
Er...if we had been able to catch the tram we would have - but ir was always full ! Psst - I'm only telling my close friends this, but at 0.14 I cheated a little. I wanted to show the tram going uphill but only had footage of it going down, so I played it backwards to 'sort of' create the effect. The title provides a bit of misdirection but of course the passengers and driver are facing the wrong way and the tram is really on the 'down' track.
Correction. The castle pre dates the Muslim period and yes, it was used as residence. The palace there was destroyed with the earthquake of 1755
