    Wow! Incredible build, painting, and assembly. Loved the added touch of the light up cockpit with red eyes! Well done!!!

    Wow, absolutely incredible! I just bought this kit because my daughters out of the blue want to get into modeling. Haven’t done it myself in like 35 years, so this will be fun! Didn’t know this was a snap-together kit - even better!

    Cool. I can never look at Star Wars vehicles without seeing Tamiya tank parts everywhere.

    An absolutely beautiful looking build. Thank you for sharing your version of this iconic machine.
    It makes me actually want to go out and buy this kit and try my hand at weathering. As I mentioned to John Bius, I think Empire Strikes Back, had it best when it came to all the vehicles. In my opinion that is. Anyway, take care and keep those models and videos coming. Kindest Regards and Respect, Ray from Sydney, Australia

    My reaction watching this video...
    "Ok...nice....great work clipping and test fitting. Good technique with the airbrush, very precise. Oh good...here comes the panel liner...just going to lightly go....HOLY HELL!!! YOU COVERED THAT MODEL IN PANELINER LIKE YOU ARE COVERING A VICTORIA'S SECRET MODEL WITH OIL TO GET HER READY FOR AN OIL WRESTLING MATCH!!!!"

    Bandai plastic and molding quality is probably the best, but not just that, they even make there kits snapfit easy to build and most of their latest kits you wont be able to find any visible seam lines

    I have always loved the AT-AT. My favorite vehicle. More so I have always wanted a detailed version of one that I can display. Unfortunately, I don't have the skill, tools or the steady hands to produce a great piece. Would you be willing to produce this for me if I provide the model and pay you?

      Thank you for the praise. If I had the time I would do this for you. But since i only do this as a hobby, it takes me up to 3 months for a model like this, and i still have a few projects. I am glad that you like my finished model 😄.

    Looks great! New to the hobby, is it ok to just use enamel paints, like Testors, for painting, washing, panel lining? I see everyone using acrylic and airbrushing but I’m old school enamel. Is that ok for plastic models? Thank you for your input.

    • @HobbyModeller
      @HobbyModeller  2 роки тому

      Hi. Bandai plastic is very sensitive to enamel and thinner. I would rather recommend acrylic paints and washes. With all other manufacturers you can use enamel paints. However, cleaning the equipment is much easier with acrylic paints. That's why they're so popular. And the drying time is much faster with acrylic.

    Amazing painting and weathering, and the result looks so true to the original, congrats! I especially liked how you finished painting and weathering in subassemblies, before putting it all together at the end. One question: how did you avoid damaging the Bandai plastic with all these enamel products you used? Especially the washes, I see you were often flooding the parts with the wash & thinner during weathering. Based on other people's experiences, with Bandai kits, this almost always led to the plastic joints melting and coming apart. This may not happen in single pieces (like the top of the "head" that you kept separate), but it would almost always seem to happen to the legs assemblies (which are composed of multiple interlocking and moving pieces). So did you have any such problems? Many thanks again!

    • @HobbyModeller
      @HobbyModeller  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you for the praise. Yes, the damaging of Bandai plastic with enamel products is a big problem. Because I only assemble the parts at the end, i can seal the plastic parts from all sides with primer, color and clear varnish. I also use glue (Tamiya extra thin cement) for small parts to keep that the wash not runs into the model. All of this can helps to reduce the risk of damaging somewhat. I hope I could help you a little.

      @@HobbyModeller Thanks a lot, yes, it makes sense. I am building the AT-AT now and I am torn between using exclusively acrylics (for the primer, the main colours and the weathering), or daring to also use some enamels, at least for the weathering. Good point about the glue, the perfect fit of the kit makes you almost forget using glue, so the tiny parts are more in danger of getting damaged by enamel paint or washes. I may try only using enamels after thorough sealing the parts with acrylic varnish. Regarding spraying: I wonder if you can get away with spraying carefully and from the right distance (so as not to flood the model), so that to use enamels - something like Mr. Finishing Surfacer for priming, and then enamels for the main paint job (like you did with Mr Paint).

    • @HobbyModeller
      @HobbyModeller  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, it's not so easy with Bandai plastic. I also destroyed some models before it worked. Maybe you can try out the techniques on a small model beforehand. The small Star Destroyer or the AT-M6. Good luck with your AT-AT.

    Why is Revell in the title when this is clearly a Bandai kit? Is that supposed to say reveal? I am insulted for Bandai, lol. Nice work though.

      Thank you for the praise 😄. Bandai does not deliver the models to all countries. Revell has the rights from Bandai to ship them to these countries under their name. In these countries, the Revell logo is also on the pack.

    Is it a snap together set or does it need glue?

    • @HobbyModeller
      @HobbyModeller  3 роки тому +3

      Yes, this is a snap together model. You don't need glue. But in some parts I used a few drops extra thin glue to seal it.

    wow 5 days for acrylic to dry?? Im new to this but wanted to make sure thats correct

    • @HobbyModeller
      @HobbyModeller  2 роки тому +2

      Hi. Acrylic paint dries very quickly. The 5 days drying time are very important for the oil paints and especially oil wash. They dry very, very slowly.

    It's an incredible shame that the AT-ST, and the AT-AT models aren't proportionate to each other. The AT-AT is much larger than an AT-ST in the movies, and the comparison of the models is incorrect when you see them side by side.
