I would argue using the compendium goes against the whole 1 persona per dungeon. I agree on fusions, but resummoning them feels off. It is your rules and run tho so whatever makes it fun for you first.
@@rubychen2635 yeah, but if you sacrifice your pokemon, you can't just revive them, and I would argue that summoning from the compendium is essentially reviving them

Great video! If you plan on doing this again though, fusion is definitely fine, but compendium access basically lets you get any persona in the game, so that probably shouldn’t be allowed, since there’s basically no persona restriction at that point.
The start of the run would be hell cause he wouldn't have anything to fuse. Instead he can limit the number of fusion. He compared fusion to evolution in pokemon so why not limit the number of fusion to one or two time per dungeon? (like the number of time a pokemon can evolve)
Now that I think more about it two seem overkill. Either having one fuse per dungeon or two but you have to fuse the persona you got from shuffling during the dungeon for the two to kinda limit the abuse of fusion but having some possibility to strategies a little.
The most important bit I found against the compendium was when you said "this is the persona I got but at this point it doesn't matter anymore", so I feel restrictions would make for a more challenging locke.
So... "I caught the box legendary, gg's?" Have any of yall even played a pokemon game? Persona starts out harder than literally any Pokemon game. Which base game Pokemon nuzlocke hinged on a victory road encounter?
Gonna agree with (what I assume is) most other commenters here. Unfettered access to the compendium defeats the entire purpose of the first half of the nuzlocke ruleset, i.e. only having *one* capture per dungeon/floor/route/what have you. It ends up being just "Can I beat the game with permadeath?" So the compendium needs to be restricted somehow. Fusion itself is fine, though. If you don't want to completely ban the compendium, I'd say limit it to one resummon per dungeon.
I mean, he has to fight more in order to gain money which also puts him at risk of death and then also he can only fight so much because of the level cap so money isnt unlimited. So he can't just carelessly spam fusions and buy back. But yeah I think that should be somewhat limited.
@@masterblaster38 but also the pokemon daycare needs money too and you can do infinite eggs on there if you do that but do you see pokemon nuzlockes doing that?

So What I will mention Is that there is a massive benefit to Very Hard in P4G The lowered XP Gain when combined with Shuffle Time Stat Boosts allows you to eventually skyrocket Izunagi's stats while still maintaining the level threshold. Endurance 99 in the Yukiko Dungeon is something I genuinely believe may be possible before Nuzlocke level cap on Very Hard unless I am misremembering (I also have not watched the video yet)
Not allowing items in battle/ Level caps are usually in a “Hardcore” rule set. A normal Nuzlocke is just making it so you can only obtain 1 monster per route, and perma-death. Anything else is added challenge as a preference. So this video is more of a “Can you beat P4G with a Hardcore Nuzlocke rule set?”
I would argue it’s kinda arbitrary. Since this is a nuzlocke we are talking about, a lot of the times in Pokémon games the run usually doesn’t start until you get pokeballs, even if you lose the starter fight. You can probably make the same exception here cause otherwise there wouldn’t be a video to begin with and that’s kinda lame. Plus difficulty in Pokémon is usually a non factor- the one game where there is a technical “Hard Mode” isn’t even a hard mode cause the trainers Pokémon have the same stats as the original pokemon and just have a higher level. Idk I think it’s easier to justify lowering the difficulty versus using the items, at least in my opinion
@@AriOfTheStars for sure, but considering Ive seen demi solo and no demi runs (which means no recruitment) its probably more reasonable than either of those.
i feel like using the compendium kinda invalidates this challenge tbh, like you're basically just playing a normal run without items & with a level cap since you can basically fuse every single persona in the game anyways
I mean, here he gets the cut because he has to fight more in order to gain money which also puts him at risk of death and then also he can only fight so much because of the level cap so money isnt unlimited. So he can't just carelessly spam fusions and buy back.
@@nickcostanza8730 I have to say that persona 4 and 5 in general aren't hard, but persona 4 is DEFINETIVELY harder than 5. Apart the main problem here is the SP due to the no items rule AND the Level cap rule which limits your persona options and makes you be lower level than if you played normally.
I think one interesting way to make the cahllenge less punishing and more interesting at the same time would be to make it so, whenever you get a game over, instead of restarting the game right away, you can go back to your previous save file, but have to discard the persona you had equipped when you died That, of course, would imply that the compendium is banned, which most of the comment session seems to think should be done either way

How about trying a run where every mc persona is one time use only. If you use the persona/s in a battle, you'll have to discard it/them after the battle (or fuse them). - the use of fusion and compendium is okay - run starts after you get your first persona (other than isanagi) - personas you carry doesn't need to be discarded as long as you don't switch into that persona or start a battle with that persona equipped You can add your rules if you want to.
