Hey guys! Fox 3's new Skin in The Game Livery Generation Tool Goes live at 1700 EDT Today here at: www.fox3ms.com/ I think you guys are going to find this thing super cool, and while it may start a little on the basic side, I am super excited to see how this develops in the future!
@@cromwellthesynth Thanks. I'm sure it is nice, but choosing from a few pre-done templates and placing some PNGs on it isn't quite worth that, IMO. That doesn't that all that long in PS and I assume Gimp. If it could somehow edit camo patterns and whatnot that would be more interesting.
The fact that it is $15 per skin is still pretty ridiculous in my opinion. Was looking forward to not having to piss away my bank account to have some pretty liveries but oh well, you can't have everything, can you :)
@@Spudknocker Its $12.99 CAD. And you have to pay and can't even see a preview as your making it. Could be a total waste of money if you detest what it turns out like.
Ive created liveries for DCS that take me ages to perfect (some of which have become in game default liveries). I dont think this is livery creation. This is slapping logos on pre-made options. Like warthunder decals. There are some incredible livery artists in the DCS community, and I feel this would flood the ED user files section with, for lack of a better term, AI generated variations of the same skins... Drowning out the real artwork created by dedicated livery artists.
Hey man all the skins in the intro to this video were all painstakingly made by me for my community so while I totally understand your concern this is just a way to customize a skin for yourself or a squadron and won’t replace or displace the true artists out there.
Hi Spud, thanks for the reply. I think perhaps it would be better to frame this as a livery customization tool rather than livery creator. I spent about 80 odd hours creating a 3 tone Apache livery (based on a real world attack chopper camo scheme)... And uploaded it to the ED files. It really made my day when I saw someone flying it online. Someone, somewhere in the world liked my work enough to download it and use it. I spent over a hundred hours creating 2 liveries that were adopted by a 3rd party dev to become default options in game. (not apache). I think its safe to say that livery artists are passionate about what we do and what we create for other people to enjoy. It is incredibly time consuming trying to match pixels up in photoshop and see the adjustments in the modelviewer.... but its so worth it in the end. I can appreciate the idea behind this to make customization more accessible to more DCS players... But again its customization, not creation.
I make skins for WT, and seeing a tool like this is pretty interesting, especially for the templates because DCS templates are way more fleshed out than WT ones
It's a great idea but definitely needs to mature before I'd use it as I'd want more detailing on my personally made livery and right now watching 2 different videos on this i absolutely hate the Font and placing of the pilot name on the jet that they are using right now.
