@@ditch3rgames At 12:40 you can see the loaded textures are not blurry as you zoom out. For me my stuff is blurry when I zoom out. How can I get rid of the blurriness?
@@ditch3rgames Found the issue, the Override Filter Width option must be unticked. In some PSDs by default it is ticked. This causes the textures to blur at a distance.

I tried updating the autoexec file, but it still doesn't want to show my liveries in Model Viewer. Tried looking on the forum, and I'm just not seeing the right thread or something, or maybe I'm just blind and overlooking it X_x Edit: I found the listing, but it's not in the liveries section of the Livery Tool, but rather on the left column. I've no clue what I did wrong.
Most likely an error with your path. Double check it and make sure it's formatted correctly and is your saved games / livery folder. Any small error in that can cause it not to work.
Many thanks for your very clear and instructional videos! I currently don't know much about texture editing but considering to take the plunge, I mainly would like to customize the strength of the canopy reflections in certain modules as I personally feel they are a bit too weak/subtle... I understand it's a matter of playing with the alpha channel of the relevant textures, any tips on how to proceed ? I identified the textures but am stuck on how to actually change the colors of the alpha channel.. Thanks
You are welcome. Sounds like you are on the right track. First, you can't change the color of the alpha, only the transparency. For the colors you will need to edit the main diffuse file and play with the colors until you get what you want. For example, if you are looking for a gold tint, the color in the editor will not be the final result, due to alpha and reflections. For this reason it takes a bit of playing around. If you are looking to make it more or less transparent, just change the overall transparency of your alpha channel.
I haven't ever worked with mod liveries, so I don't know how they differ. However, if they install a livery folder in your saved games directory, it should work the same way. Let me know if you don't find the answer and I can take a look at them this weekend to help out.
I ran into this today. I’m guessing it was broken in the last patch. In the meantime you can copy one from an existing livery. Let me know if you need help doing that.
Of course, send me a message on Discord of what you are looking for. I really hope this gets fixed soon. Discord info is in vid descriptions or on the about page.
I dont have a DCS save game file,Im playing on the Steam version of DCS but im not sure if that makes a difference. I tried this before but came back to try again and finish it,and i was just doing everything in the liveries folder of the plane. Do i need a saved game file or can i continue doing it the way I was? Sorry for the inconvenience, thank you. Edit; Also when I load the edm file I get errors at the bottom of the model viewer and it says " 'c:/program files (x86)/steam/steamapps/common/dcsworld/coremods/aircraft/chinaassetpack/shapes/j-11a/j-11a_lod0.edm.ilv' from fs." But it still loads the model anyways,Im not sure if im supposed to open it that way or have done something wrong, again thank you.
As far as anything related to the Steam install, I really can't speak on as I have never used it. However, you don't need a saved games folder, you can do it out of the base install. If you are doing this just be careful not to modify existing liveries, and I've heard stories that updates and repairs can delete work you have done, but I can't confirm this. As for the error in the model viewer, I'm not sure. I close the Log Viewer as it tends to always show errors that don't seem to hinder livery creation. So if all is working for what you need just keep going.
I created my own F16 Livery but couldn't find out how to remove those dang burnt in tail logos. Hopefully I understood this method and will redo my tail. I can't stand it when the sun hits it.
I understand how to create and edit the description file and everything after you export the dds files. It's everything in-between that I don't really understand. I'm not getting how you found and disabled the original textures/labels etc in order to apply your base color. ok, nevermind. I think I figured it out. I thought you were also creating a new swatch and I didn't see what that did. I had to keep pausing after every action to figure it out. So you aren't really disabling any textures, just the act of creating a new layer and placing it above the default textures is just blocking the other textures from showing, correct? unrelated, what time do you live stream?
No, you can install the livery directly into your DCS install and work it from there. I just prefer not to work within the install path as a mistake can break other things.
The code isn't too bad once you do it a couple times, but the first time it's kind of a pain. Also feel free to hit me up on Discord and I can share description files or folder setups with you to take some of the pain out of it.

They go in the same folder of you livery. Make sure you also add the lines to the description file for the fuel tanks as well.
