My dad passed when I was 8. But before that he showed me this music and opened my eyes to such an amazing world of people and culture and now I'm so glad to say I grew so much from the life he gave me and he continues to inspire me.
I bought this record when I was 17. I'm 50 now. And I still can't believe somebody made a song like this. Incredible work. VIva Love and Rockets #FTW!!!!
I had not really followed the BauHau's and only briefly listened to Tones on Tail. I was at Wax Trax in Denver and an employee was playing this song and turned me on to the whole album!!! I was 19 and am now 55.
Can't believe I have been listening to this song, and this album, for almost 40 years now and it NEVER gets old. It sounds fresh and new and exciting every time. I am so glad I got to see them live back in the day, the crowd going nuts when the flowerpot/bubblemen came out during this song 🙌

Love and Rockets on tour with Jane's Addiction. Two of my fav bands in the '80's. I can't believe it. We were all partying to their music in Athens, Ga., late '80's. Wow. ✨️🎶🎶🎶🎉
Saw them when I was 16 with Jane’s Addiction at UCI in 1987. I’m 53 now and I’ll be seeing them August 9th in Las Vegas with Jane’s again. ❤&🚀 forever!
If I could only see one more live concert, it would be Love & Rockets. Saw them in the states once and they just blew me away. The sound that these 3 guys produce is amazing, and gave me this opioid-like euphoria that lasted for days. Seriously. The best band EVER!!!
top 5 favorite bands...Ash's intoxicating vocals, davids pounding throbing bass..and kevins drums spinning this track at a rapid rate through my mind! Fuck, to be 20 again This still get me fired up.
Waited for my buddy's parents to go out of town so we could jam this tape on the "sonic" setting of their stacked Bose system in the living room. It normally played jazz and we weren't allowed to touch it. Brought that system to life when we jammed Love and Rockets. Good times. 30 years on now.

It blows my mind how much easier it is to find music today. Even in the early days of the internet, you'd read about music on newsgroups or listservs, but then you'd have to go to a record store and buy it to hear it yourself. Now, it's usually available on youtube/Vimeo.
so, so, so good. kevin and david really look a lot alike in this vid. i think i might be in love with daniel. literally, this band just gets better and better (been listening to them since '86).
A friend of mine from New Orleans met Daniel Ash at a small local pub there, in the late '80's. They said Daniel was so nice, and bought everyone there a round of drinks. That's the coolest.🎶🎉
Of course the longer album version is better. I have all of their albums and EPs and still listen to them though I am almost 60. Also saw them live a couple of times. Playing them now for my 15 year old son.
I first heard this on a Thai Air flight from Bangkok to London after 6weeks trekking through the jungles of Sabah & Sarawak! Free booze and a virtually empty plane makes for much fun and a killer hangover when we arrived at Heathrow 🥴
This video has it all including dancing bees. I think they had some fun with this one. Love and Rockets were really in the pocket here- the years 1985-1987.
Revisiting L&R after listening to Dali's Car earlier today (Peter Murphy with Mick Karn, the incredible bassist from Japan). I remain a fan of all musical variations of the people involved.
I was a huge Bauhaus fan back in the day (and still am!) but apart from some of the L&R singles in the 80's (like this one, of which I bought the 12" single), I never really made the full cross-over to this band. I do like what I've heard by them, though, and fully mean to go back and catch up on what I missed out on at the time.
Damn THIS took balls visually by 80's standards especially! And JUST AS INTENSE live (1989@ the Fabulous Fox Theater St. Louis, (orchestra pit seats)with THE PIXIES opening in the wake of Doolittle😎😎😎🤘🖖💗💗💗💗
The guitar chords to this song and the others were included (with the lyrics) when you bought the lp back in the day, which helped me learn guitar. I started my first band a few years later at age 18. Thank you L&R!
It's what every Artist is reaching for, and Love and Rockets are Artists with a capital A. Let me tell you about the time I interviewed Daniel Ash in L.A. (available on cassette).
Definitely a great video, especially in a time when bid budgets seemed to dominate the video making world. They pulled off great videos without blowing tens of thousands of dollars.
I saw this debut on MTV's 120 minutes show at the time. It was such a great surprise how they were creating many videos rather quickly. I'd say that it certainly grew more fans as a result. Once they had a collection of their music videos on VHS (including a special guest appearance by the Bubblemen), called "The Haunted Fishtank," I received it as a Christmas gift. "Express" is such an excitingly energetic LP, overall (and, knowing it as leading with, "It Could Be Sunshine"). I just listened to it last night for the first in a long while, coincidentally. The melodic distortion and pop-like arrangements drove the album's sequence urgently like a locomotive; I suppose I should say, a "Kundalini Express." It was also at this time where I was just getting to know the discography of T. Rex, and could hear a healthy influence of Marc Bolan on Daniel Ash through the 4th to the 1st chord progressions. At commercial record stores and another privately owned shop, I bought anything I could find on them through EPs, t-shirts, pins, their first album, and then the treasure of learning about Tones on Tail. I should mention that although I knew of Bauhaus, I didn't actually start listening or collecting anything by them until about three years or more after Love and Rockets. They're certainly two bands, regardless of the common threads, and I needed time to get to know that library (and then followed Peter Murphy's career as well). Anyway, I could probably write more, but I think I've adequately shown my appreciation in this comment.
I had the VHS too. Not sure if I still have it. I and my friends watched it so many times, especially when we weren't supposed to, i.e. during exam week 0_0 So many great videos, and low budget. Not the glossy slick nonsense of the 80's video era.
I remember buying this in anticipation at the tender age of 18 on 12inch - I used to bump into Danny Ash a lot in our local record store SpinaDisc in Northampton, David J lived across the road from us
The more time that passes, the more I realise this song, this album, and this band are all incredibly special.
15 year old me couldn't understand why this song wasn't wildly popular.
A little older, and I still can't understand. It's better than most of what was on the radio at the time.
