Since it's now autumn the light in my study has changed a lot and I decided to just go with it for a more vintage, 1950s technicolour look! Let me know what you think. Hope you enjoy this look! Tag me in pictures if you try it x
Looking scrumdiddly umptious as always. Your scarf and rollers look is a 50’s film scene on its own. Grace Kelly will forever be the epitome of elegance. Almost every scene in Hitchcock’s To Catch A Thief could be from a fashion shoot. Flawless complexion; beautiful clothes and never a hair out of place. The dark blue and white outfit she wears on the way to the beach is just stunning.
Talking of High Society have you seen Kiss Me Kate [1953]? Cole Porter’s score is gloriously witty. Also Kathryn Grayson has stunning red hair, very similar to someone not a million miles away 🙂. I'm with you on The Philadelphia Story, Grant and Hepburn just shine throughout.
Amazing!! I'm going as Grace Kelly for Halloween so I tried this tutorial. I don't think my hair ended up looking as much like hers as yours did, but it still turned out great! Tbh that was the easiest way I've ever tried for putting my hair in rollers. You're a genius!!
I just wanted to say that your blog is the first one I have ever been interested enough in to even go check it out. I have an appreciation for your stick to it personality and ,what is obvious to me at least , very hard work. I know that it cannot be easy to smile like you do for us all of the time. I cannot even say how much that wonderful smile of yours means to people like me that struggle so hard to find our own smiles on some days. THANK YOU Jessica !!!!! :D
+Breezy Skyz that's so lovely to know! Thank you, it means a lot that my hard work is recognised 😊 I hope you keep your smile too and that life is kind to you xxx
I recently cut my hair to about this length (to my collarbones but I have curly hair so when it’s curly it rests just above my shoulders) and I am totally going to try this look. The woman who does my hair did confirm that I can use sponge rollers and setting foam/lotion to make my curls into vintage curls, so I think I’ll start with this style.
+PLOffical you'll get there! Practice makes perfect. I've taught myself various hair rolling techniques over the last decade of curling my hair (I started young 😉)
thanks Jessica I hope I can take a class on curling the hair so I can do this look and plus you look awesome in the BBC three Things Not To Say To A Deaf Person
I wish my natural curly hair would smooth out this beautifully on the top! I'd never be able to hold my arms up that long to get this look though! Fibromyalgia is too bad in my shoulders! #spoonielife
Hello there! I am so glad I found your channel. If you wouldn't mind, could you tell me how many hours do I need to keep the rollers? I know you've said you sleep wearing them but I have insomnia and chronic migraines so I doubt that's an option for me. Thank you lovely!
I have really long hair that goes to the middle of my back. It is also super thick and all one length. Would this still work? And could you make a video for people with really long hair?
Hello! ! I have just come across your channel and have been watching as many videos as I can! You are beautiful and I really want hair like yours! I love vintage style and am determined to make more of an effort to do my hair in rollers. I really need to get a good cut though, it's a long thick mess right now. Please keep making hair and make up videos, I love them. 🤗
+zoe searl aw thank you lovely! Really glad you're enjoying my videos 😊 if you've seen my Instagram you'll know that I love doing different things with my hair so there are certainly many more tutorials to come that I hope you can use xxx
I've tried many times to use rollers to curl my hair, but when I use the bigger ones, my 'curl' is more of a wave, even if I leave them in overnight and use a setting lotion. I've only had luck with the tiniest rollers, which produce a frizzy mess. Any tips??
Ooh, that sounds like trouble! Possibly your hair would respond better to heated wax-filled rollers than to sponge ones. I like heated rollers but never follow the directions on the box! I use them with hair that is slightly damp, ramp them up to the highest heat and then leave them in for an hour after they're fully cooled. Takes much longer than a set with heat normally does but the curls really last x
Any advice on how to get the feel of the 40s-50s in a hair style but with out the curls? for someone who has hair that refuse to curl or very quickly becomes straight. I have tried everything and nothing seems to work (apparently its a genetic trait to have hair that refuse to curl, who knew?). But i long for nice vintage hair so any advice or tips on more straight hair styles? :D
Hello my fellow super-straight haired friend! Milk maid braids are indeed a really great idea for straight hair, as are other up do styles like a chignon or a beehive, if you can get volume and height into it. If you want a really vintage-y look but to wear your hair 'down' then a half-up bouffant is a good plan. I would say that having straight hair doesn't have to detract from your vintage style as long as you can get the front into a classic look like a barrel roll or victory rolls. Since your hair is so straight though I would advise heating the hair around curling tongs before pinning it- even though it will 'fall out' and become straight again it'll be a lot more manageable. Gosh, I've got all excited now, think I'll have to make a video about vintage straight hair! Hope this helps x
Oh gosh, thank you for reminding me I hadn't added links to them in the description yet! I use a tangle teaser, a precise bristle brush (with long bristles) and a large bristle brush (with shorter bristles) x
You are so lovely, I'm so glad your channel exists! I've always adored Grace, but sadly will never have her hair since my hair goes all the way to my bum. But I still enjoy watching you style yours!
I am so in love with all these Stars inspired hair tutorials!
Glad you like them! x

...and as a man I thought I had problems with my brush cut. Lovely video. :)
Jessica, I just watched Claudia doing the voice over video, HILARIOUS!, and I was wondering when you are going to do a video about Walter?

Oh goodness, you've hit upon one of my favourite films! I also adore her in High Society- although The Philadelphia Story is a big love of mine x

You always look great, and you know when and more importantly when not to back comb!
Ah yes, the delicate art of the backcomb... 😏
Thank you lovely xxx

It's relaxing to watch you curl your hair and have so much fun

I wonder if Grace Kelly's parents were proud of her after she became literal royalty.
Sadly no..her father quoted that he didn't care much for royalty 🙁
I need more of these!! hehe

I'm gonna try this on my cousin. She's 11

Love this hairstyle. Where do you get you setting lotion and pomade

She gives me Phoebe vibe.
Hmm mine gets all fuzzy at the end - did you comb through the end curls? I can't tell in the video.
You look so goood. Omg.
Thank you lovely 💕🌸
you look just like blake lively, but more beautiful

you could try milk maid braids or even some type of updo xxx
caitlin hill Good idea 😊 have to look into that, often have my hair up anyway. Thanks 😀
Frida Varg I think Jessica's victory rolls look could work without curls... (If I'm remembering right)

Jessica Kellgren-Fozard okay, thank you for all the great advice 😊
I would love a video about this 😁
What kind of brush are you using?
Oh gosh, thank you for reminding me I hadn't added links to them in the description yet! I use a tangle teaser, a precise bristle brush (with long bristles) and a large bristle brush (with shorter bristles) x
I defenitly have to try this hairstyle. My hair might be a bit to long but who cares? 😂
Definitely try it! Let me know when you do and tag me on Instagram if you post any pics ♥
Jessica Kellgren-Fozard
Sure, I will propably take pictures then :)
I'll have to get curlers first though, I didn't bring mine when I moved to London
Oh no! Well, pop to your local Boots- I swear by their foam rollers
Jessica Kellgren-Fozard Yes, I saw them but I didn't have a reason to justify buying them - now I do 😂
Hi I noticed your last name is Kellgren, are you Swedish?
This is so cuye bit my hair is way too long (waist nearly butt length) and curly :(
*cute
This video just told me I’m ugly
