    The upside of an acrylic crystal is you can polish most of those scratches out quite easily.

    Loved your review! I subscribed. I bought mine a few months ago and enjoy it a lot. A tube of poly will take out the scratches.

    I own this watch and one of the vintage marlins and the reissue gives you the best of both worlds. It looks vintage but functional for everyday wear. With the reissue I like that Timex went with a twenty jeweled skeleton hacking movement, which is a big improvement over the original Marlin movement.

    Wish there were more Marlin reviews! Regardless, I've just ordered mine (the same Blackout model) from Timex as well. Was looking for something to scratch my itch while saving for my grail, it was either the Timex Burgundy, Orient Helios, Orient Bambino Open Heart or this. The size of this Marlin really made deciding so much easier. Also subbed as your approach to the review felt raw, natural and a bit different from the usual watch review vids. 👍

    Regarding watch straps, I think the consensus among watch collectors is that as you wear them they conform better to your wrist and also become more supple. That makes them fit looser for any given hole your buckle is set to. When the strap is stiff, it tends to not bend as easily (especially at the case connection point) and therefore you need more strap to get the same retention effect. Can't say for sure that's true, but it does match up with my limited experience.

    Good job. Thank you.im considering it in green 34 vs 40 automatic? Have a vintage germinal Voltaire which is very similar.

    They released a California dial version of this. I found this video by looking up reviews for that.
    It's really weird to see Timex trying to brand themselves as a premium watch. From the beginning they were always meant to be a disposable cheap watch - like they weren't designed to be easily repaired.

    hi! how long your timex marlin reissue works from fully wound to stop? I just got mine brand new, fully wound it (the crown resist already) at around 1.30 PM, then the second stop at around 10.20 PM, which means only last about 9 hours. Is it normal?

    • @Yekie
      @Yekie  3 роки тому

      Hmm, not sure what the issue is. My Marlin does not last as long as other watches I've had, the Orient Bambino was a beast, but it does last a full work day for me and I notice into still ticking into the next morning.

    • @ivanyufenstefanus8272
      @ivanyufenstefanus8272 3 роки тому +1

      Yekie if mine last about 12 hours in full winding, is that ok? So hand wind it twice a day. Anyway, i love orient bambino and their value to money, but their size is really a turn off for me :)

    Get some polywatch to buff out the minor scratches. Seagull movement which has its origins from Swiss equipment.

    Hey, nice review! The movement used is indeed chinese, it's a Seagull movement. They have been in the watch industry for about 70 years so it should be good.
    The water ressitance of 30 meters means that it actually is not waterproof. Don't get it wet, when a watch is 100m WR then you can shower with it, swim, etc.
    Do you have any ideas about your next watch?

    • @Yekie
      @Yekie  4 роки тому +2

      Thanks for watching! I'm really thinking about beginning to save up for one of my grail watches, which would be the Cartier Santos, or Rolex Explorer, among others. In any case I have been mulling over a new daily watch, something that is meant to be a little more rugged.

    • @agram4700
      @agram4700 4 роки тому

      @@Yekie A Cartier would be awsome! Great choice.
      A Casio G-SHOCK would be the most rugged watch you can get. If you want an automatic look into Vostok Amphibian watches on meranom site, they are russian dive watches, built like a tank but not so accurate. Will be waiting for another watch video! Keep it up! :)

    I got the gold version and it suffers from the same problem as this 3:00-3:30 in that it's very hard to see the hands and markers in a lot of different light settings, I contacted Timex and got them to send me black hands so I could see them against the silver face of the gold version and maybe white hands and markers against the black face of this version, it's not fuckin rocket science Timex....Thanks for this review I was considering getting this black face version but definitely won't be after seeing this

    I’ve got the chrome version of that 2017 reissue of 1965, and no, it wasn’t new, pleased it wasn’t due to quality of the Marlin, I started out with 9K Avia’s, then switching to vintage Timex Marlins, today received a mint GP 1967 to match my chrome 1978, far cheaper than that very bad repro, as none of the parts turned me on, I have other wind up watches in my collection, I wouldn’t buy a new watch, as Timex’s heart was not into their watches, style over money, or money over style.
