This is about the most wasteful spending I have ever seen from the medical field. This is stupid at least, and dangerous at most... Palpation is an important part of assessment... Current zoom calls should only be used for uncomplicated medical problems... Not for a post op follow up. What a waste of money. Use that money to help relieve medical bills for those who need it most instead of putting patients lives at risk.

This means less direct assessment of the patient, more money and the doctor stretches thin

Sadly we live in a world where we do not have enough doctors, advanced practitioners (what I’m getting my masters in right now), and nurses. We need to start using technology to try and fix this. Your argument is definitely a problem though - we need to figure out how to use technology to increase our ability to provide care for patients, without jeopardizing quality. We need to embrace technology like this.

So the dr can’t touch you to examine you. This is very dangerous. I was in our local hospital last summer for a couple of days. All the doctors were on the screen. I called them teletubby doctors. Bad reception and foreign accents. So when I couldn’t understand what they said and asked them to repeat it, I got yelled at. I hate what our medicine has come to. It’s crap. And that’s being nice. Oh. And when tests don’t show what they are looking for (they never look for what the patient says is wrong) they just throw out a random wrong diagnosis.

Wouldn't it be better if you were seeing the patient instead of the patient seeing you

This is in a medical setting specifically. Holograms and other advanced technologies will also serve many different uses going forward. The nature of interpersonal relationships will be changed. Professionally, domestically, and otherwise. I've been thinking about this for years.

This is what they spend their money on instead of helping people. It’s time to nationalize the entire healthcare system and stop this corruption.

No,a phone call isn't the same thing as a video call. Do you need to go back to 2nd grade, or? This is not a hard concept to grasp.

Some patients don't have access to tech like a laptop and internet for video conferencing so it would be good to have this nearby. Also Texas is huge and your doctor or specialist could be a long drive or even a flight away.

Forget getting your blood pressure, respirations, skin color or surgery sight checked by the person who has the most education and by the person your life depends on, however your money will definitely go to them. You can’t even talk to a physician on the phone anymore for your test results and questions. It’s always message me and I’ll message you on the patient portal. What if your phone is 5 years old and freezes up and you can’t see all the messages or results because of this; and what if you don’t have a laptop because you are in poverty. Walk to the library in the scorching heat for 2 hours to check your patient portal? The American medical industry is turning to sh*!

Why would I even have to go to the doctors office if the doctor isn’t even going to be there!?
This is just another way for the hospitals to charge “in person” visits. It’s the same as a video visit, I don’t need to see my docs body.

"as close to in person as it gets"
no mate,in person is close to in person we can get....foolish statement from someone supposedly extremely intelligent.
A hologram cant physically check anything on me,it can only speak and see,ergo....THIS IS NO BETTER OR DIFFERENT FROM A FREAKING FACETIME\ZOOM TYPE CALL ....absolutely beyond moronic idea.

    Hey Americans! 🎉
Sorry for disturbing you here. As you can guess that I am not American. But I am interested to learn American English I am want to speak like you. But I want to know about your suggestion that what would you like to give me as a suggestion to improve and learn my English. I am struggling with the English by the what is factor like the understanding native speaker what they are saying. Some native speakers speak quite different. There was an understandable. If I take the example of the Elon Musk, it is quite hard to understand what they are saying in the video for me. So what suggestion you want to give as a net speaker to improve and enhance and learn English spoken skill. Yes I would be appreciated and I am really sorry for disturb you here.

Grammar, and when to use or not use certain words. “I am struggling with the English” should be “I am struggling with English”. The English makes it sound like you are talking about struggling with British people
