Nice vid. I've had my kraton 6s v5 and ran about 8 battery packs thru it. Not into extreme jumps but so far I've broken my rear wing mounts, r/f upper and lower control arms (not really the trucks fault, my son drove it into a fence). But so far loving this rig

Totally agree. I almost bought a EXB Kraton but went with a V5 Kraton instead. I'm more than satisfied with my purchase. The EXB at my local hobby shop was one of the earlier versions, which was something I wanted to avoid.
I completely agree with you on upgrading. No reason to replace a bunch of parts and go "all metal/aluminum" and have all the stock parts laying around (that won't be needed with metal parts installed) that may not have even broke at all. Now bumpers, skidplates and aluminum differential housings are key because they prevent more expensive damage and hassle fixing diffs. I broke my wing mount screws, but haven't snapped the actual wing mount...yet. Great video!
You like playing in the mud !! LOL I totally agree with you about EXB vs. RTR's , I have yet to break any diff in any of my 6s Arrmas , or motor or esc !!! Would continue to buy the RTR 6s with only aluminum chassis braces in for a " must do " upgrade .
@@BarstoneRC my spots are unmaintained and far from where I parked. But I got a shovel and shears for shaping and removing thin roots that partially come up from the dirt and act like a hangline/noose and dead stop my outcast at full speed unless I cut em .
max 6 - 1650kv combo. Just an absolute brute setup for the 6s arrma lineup. i run it in my mojave exb with a 23 tooth pinion. wow... scary fast and fun.
Castle xlx2 with 800kv motor when you do that you also have to order 59 motor mount for 800 kv the same time with the electronics but standing backflips wit ease
Great run and an unintended durability test of the Kraton. I have so much more respect for driving on BMX tracks since I took my Outcast to a BMX track for the first time and realised it's not as easy as it looks sometimes.
Yeah BMX tracks can be a little tricky especially with the timing of jumps and judging the distance but they are a lot of fun for sure, there’s lots of great jumps and they usually don’t get too muddy which is nice.
I totally agree with you on the Kraton being one of the or possibly the best platform for bashing. I’m also like you on the EXB versus the previous versions. I have a highly upgraded V2 and it is a tank. I just ordered a EXB shell for it though LOL. IMO it’s just as good as the EXB if not better. I do like that black body though. Great run Dude. Yeah I have just personally had a lot better luck with my V4 versus the EXB but I know everybody’s experience is different but if I had to do it over again I would just buy the V4 or now the V5 and just upgrade stuff as it breaks. But yes the EXB body is sharp looking

I know this is old but I got the 1717 in mine with a Max 6 but if I could do it again I would put the mama monster x in it cuz I was having heat issues and I don't know if it's cuz the combo isnt matching or what but I had it geared very low before it would actually stay cool now that it's cooler out I have a 20 pinion on it and it's a monster even when I had the 13 tooth pinion on it it was still a beast and the plus side of that is you can run it on 4s6s8s doesn't matter and on 4S it's still goes and you can correct it in the air I haven't ran it on 8s cuz I'm scared of what it'll do to the diffs LOL
I appreciate your video, but out of respect for the BMX track operator, you should refrain from tearing their track up when it’s wet. It’s a lot of work keeping a BMX track groomed.
HAs anyone had an issue with the pinion gear coming loose and moving forward to a point where it wouldn’t engage the drive shaft gear? I’ve used blue thread lock and waited 24 hours to dry and all but that set screw comes loose every time.
No I’ve never ran into any issues really I had a cop tell me I wasn’t allowed to use the BMX track one time that I used dozens of times before lol but that was it
Yeah that battery decided to go flat right as it was going off the jump at the worst time LOL but besides the wing mount the car held strong as usual, that car can really take a lot of punishment

Well what I would recommend, is the hot racing rear differential case and the rear differential from the V5 with the EXB spiral cut gears that you already have.
Awesome bashing man! I think I’m with you on the whole exb thing.. I’m building my V2 with all m2c and rpm parts and I’m kinda wondering if I shoulda just built my V2 up a long time ago and never got the exb since it’s been more of a show piece the last 6 months
Some locations I'd be driving would be places that have a combination of paved road, dirt, gravel and grass. They would also have natural ramps/bumps aka small jumps. Looking for something that has high handling yet durable and capable of bashing sometime in the future as we get more used to it. I've contemplated a Maxx but from my research it tends to rollover more than other options. Not saying the other models wouldn't rollover but I think it would be much less on the Typhon options or Kraton. The contenders at the moment is the TLR tuned Typhon, Typhon 6s, Kraton 6s or Sledge. @@BarstoneRC

My favorite esc/motor combo to date is max 6 with a hobbystar 1730 kv 4092 motor. It's a beast of a motor. Both motor and esc have taken an absolute thumping and always come back for more, lol.. check out rcjuice for the motor. I'm sure you know where to find a max 6 esc. Great bash as always man.
Yeah well the wing mound doesn’t really count it didn’t stop the car from running LOL. I’m going to be putting a bigger motor and ESC in this thing shortly also
@@BarstoneRC ok that's the 12T yeh that thing needs more speed I just went from 15T on my EXB to a 14T it was way to fast and I couldn't get the front end to stay down. Once I fix my rear end I can't wait to see what she does with the 14 tooth pinon gear.
I’ve ran different gearing on it before and on a few of my cars the problem I ran into was them overheating all of the time. So I decided to go with a little less speed but I don’t have overheating issues, at least that’s been my experience so far.
@@BarstoneRC yes that's correct you definitely won't with that gearing. I have fans on my motor for my EXB but yeh she does get hot for sure. I should be safe with the 14T. When you start to push the limit with these things you reduced reliability by alot. I learned my lesson 👍
It’s pretty much bone stock and I believe the punch was still set to factory the only thing I really did to it was change the shock oil and put 70 weight in it

Well I feel like the price of it is a little steep but it’s a great car. I have Traxxas I have Losi I have Arrma and they’re all great for their own purposes but if you’re just looking for an all-around basher to jump tear round in the mud or wherever I would go with the XMAXX.

Put in the Hobbywing 1650kv with max6 setup. Plenty of power and reliability

No problem. I have that setup in my CEN Reeper and it moves that big truck pretty well. I can't imagine what it would do in the Kraton.

I thought about it but I got the EXB chassis at a really good price and I’ve never had any problem with the chassis on my EXB so I went that route.
Max6 1650 works good.
Loving my EXB max6 1650kv. A bit more weight, but the power is a beast.
Can also 7 or 8s it if the fancy takes you 😁.
Got 6s v4.. up grated few parts bad a** truck pops alot of stock tires

They will come loose from time to time, but make sure nothing else is loose with the motor or mount

Always run it on 6s. If your just starting maybe try 4s but WAY more power on 6s.

@@BarstoneRC understood. I don't toss anything I own off giant jumps ever and love the speed of any car with good handling. I feel my 2.0 is great as it got upgraded as broke here and there. It's solid now but toasted the esc, new one comes tomorrow from traxxas. Just looking for something cool to mess around with. Maybe the Xmaxx is it, I'm not sure. I love my infraction. I was also looking into the scale grave digger truck as it's highly detailed. So many options!
