"It's my goal, ultimately, to start making reviews again." That's all I wanted to hear from him. ❤
I wonder if he'll ever actually address the whole Patreon debacle.
Good lord, Zero, so nice to see you!
Good. I sincerely think this should be his goal.
@@dkamphaus43 maybe he could add some sort of small, doable project to that if he gets on his feet again. Even if any kind of crowd funding falls through, if he actually tries to make something that's a good gesture to the people who supported him.
@@dkamphaus43 I doubt it, or if he was smart use it for a new story line like his final fantasy reviews where he’d mix situations happening in his life and the reviews.
Not only is Paul and genuine guy, apparently he can also work miracles.
Well, he is an interdimensional alien after all. If anyone could pull it off, it'd be Curtis!
I never would've imagined in a million years that Curtis himself would be reaching out to Noah and helping him back out of his shell. Thanks so much for this.
It's full circle. Phantasmagoria was a monster hit for TSE, now through Curtis the spoony man may be redeemed
It just feels so freaking good to see Spoony smiling and upbeat again.
Sorry, could you please explain who Curtis is?
@@azzag123456 The guy who played Curtis in Phantasmagoria 2 APUZZLEOFFLEEEEESSSHHH
I agree I watched Spoony religiously back in highschool, I am eagerly waiting for the day he comes back with a new review.
The fact that Spoony/Noah was in a place to be able to do this interview is incredible. He's slowly getting back to a good place mentally and I'm so happy for him. He's why I've always wanted to get into content creation. A true legend
He ain't ever been in a good place, he was always a creep, it's just that TGWTG always hid his flaws because he used to bring in the $$$. After the fall of channel awesome most people said they pretended to like him because of his status, but hated shooting with him.
@@kolonel1136 you dont think people change after a decade. if i met myself from 10 years ago i would want to kick my own ass. i think after all the drama and bad decision it humbles you. you can learn alot more from one mistake vs 1000 successes. thats what being human is all about.
@@kolonel1136 Exactly, i know that have mental issues is a pain and i sympathize, but he kind of was shady independent of the depression issue he has.
@@MisterFister612 I don't think that most ppl change after a decade actually. Specially people that are celeb (even small online ones) as many justify they're bad and wrong actions.
If he did though i'm happy for him, but we need proof and be nice in a video isn't.
@@1300l then i pity you. if you dont believe people cant change or mature in 10 years especially when they disappear for a good chunk of time. then all i can see you as petty. many people do stupid shit when their younger, they make mistakes, thats the human condition.
Spoony was a paragon of early youtubism. He checked almost every box, be it writing, acting, nerdy savviness and even the technical skills that tie the entire thing together. He still is, for me, the most talented youtube comedian, and I'd love for this prodigal son to return to form and platform. You are missed, Noah.
Wow your Dumb
He’s literally a thief…
ua-cam.com/video/mgbobnZS5y0/v-deo.html
I bet people miss their money too lmao.
@@Nerwrax15 That doesn't exclude OP's point. Spoony was one of the best angry review youtubers of the early 2010's.
i do hope spoony comes back. i've been following him since the beginning and i know he has lost a lot, way more than you guys got into. but he was one of the OG youtubers and his stuff still stands the test of time. i wouldn't be here without watching him when i was younger.
Top tier Final Fantasy 8 review.
I was hoping you'd be here. 100% agree.
All the other greats (& mediocres) are still around making money & laughs. It would be shame if The Spoony One didn't do the same.
Edit to be clear I'm not saying Spoony should do it for money, but everytime this comes up people shout there is no market for Spoony's content which is very easy to demonstrate as objectively false.
There is little difference between a live action sketch, an audio only sketch, & an animated sketch especially in the review format. Of course Spoony's humor works fine without visuals in my opinion.
@SFO: Would love to see you do a video on why Spoony and his kind were important back in the day and still are.
Oh hey funny seeing you here (DeathByBlunderbuss)
Next stop for Spoony; gaming with SFO?
I heard... No, I FELT that Curtis. Thanks for offering a hand to an icon. I wish success on both these kings.
Spoony was at his absolute prime during the Phatasmagoria let's play, just so many off the cuff jokes that complimented the game so well. I'm sure working on a fmv video game was a very weird and unique experience for Mr. Stetler in his youth, but he obviously embraced it and it's certainly something that became timeless!
I remember watching that series when it came out and laughing so much throughout the entire thing. Very few pieces of entertainment has that effect on me nowadays, if any at all.
The best part was how frequent the uploads were. During its hayday, I remember 2-3 uploads would come out a week. it was a blast to keep uo with
Spoony, ive never wished more good things for a total stranger in my entire life. Been with you from the beginning. What a journey its been....and i'm glad its not over!
I met Noah at B-Fest in Chicago and he was the sweetest person. I have missed him on youtube for so long. I'd love it if he did a podcast or returned back to reviewing. But only if he feels he can do it. Mental health is so important. Much love to Curtis for doing this. He's such a genuine sweetie too!
Thanks NaTasha!
If it wasn't for Spoony I would have never gotten into Highlander and never discovered so many other content creators way back in 2007
I was already into most of the stuff he talked about (including the Phantasmagoria games). So for me it was more like hanging out with someone who likes the stuff you like and (for the most part) shared your views. 🙂
Blob really came through with her connections
Consorting with the dark ones has upsides
Spoony's Ultima Retrospective got me through...let's just say, some very dark times. Thanks Noah.

I feel like the world would be a better place if everyone watched that whole thing, in its entirety, about 2-4 times a year. On the first day of every new season, people should watch it. It’s *just* *so* *good*
I miss seeing Spoony make videos. I don't need epic character battles. I just want to hear his thoughts on it.
agreed, many of his vids are just timeless for me, running through Ripper, the history of Ultima, I dont need the sketches, I appreciate the effort but they are not needed
The world needs Spoony now more than ever.
Yeah, absolutely. I just want some nice little Spoony videos.
@@Decenium The history of Ultima is so wonderful, and Counter Monkey is also gold tier
@@SleepingPepper His Counter Monkey episode "Don't Get On the Boat" is actually what sparked off the campaign I've been running off and on for the past few years, which in turn is what's resulted in me fully fleshing out my own D&D setting
This is unbelievably meta this is just absolutely unbelievable Curtis is helping spoonie after spoonie played Curtis's game and spoonie was helping Curtis succeed in the game in a metaphorical sense this is absolutely unbelievable
There's something poetic about Noah's comeback being engendered by someone who was central in the work that put him on the map in the first place.
Good on ya! Thank you for this!
Quite serendipitous, thats what makes it so funny
"It's like poetry, it rhymes..." ;-)
DUDE! He still has the FF8 vinyl figures that i gave to him! I think about those things all the time. They watched me lose my virginity. Keep them safe brother.
Do you still have the waifu pillow?
I don’t think you fully understand what an amazing thing you’ve done here bringing Spoony at his own pace back to the internet and being such a caring interviewer here.
It means more than you know to your fans and to his.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
That Lets play series is burned into my memory with all the laughs and jokes.
Thanks for bringing Spoony out, it’s good to see him and you together, and I hope he’s getting into a better place in his life.
It's so great to see Spoony again. I go back to his old content often and he's always been a huge inspiration to me. Thanks for having him on Paul, and for creating a space where this conversation could happen.
Wait what? Fixy computer man is a Spoony fan?
same with me, dude. i hope he returns.
Would you believe I didn't watch his Ultima series until this year? And I used to visit his website on a daily basis.

Literally cried from happiness seeing Noah again. I'm so glad to see him doing well
Little bit of an awkward convo, but spoonys workin on it
Same. Got weepy. Thought the flow of conversation was fine.
Yeah, it's terribly corny, but his effect on my life is really surprising when I look back.
Kinda tied up in half the story of my marriage coming to be. The Internet is wild that way...
This was absolutely surreal. I would never have expected this back when Spoony first played Phantas 2. Thank you for making it happen Paul.
Never thought I'd say this ever in recent years, but I'm proud of Noah. Being interviewed on camera after many years of personal struggle is not an easy thing to do. Regardless of all that's happened, I believe in second chances. I wish him well.
Whether he can somehow return to producing content or not, seeing and hearing Spoony in a better headspace I'd consider a massive victory. Thank you, Paul.
Paul, as a long time Spoony fan i want to thank you for doing this. I actualy got emotional watching this interview, it was great to see Spoony in good spirits again.
Same here brother. It's truly special seeing Spoony in good spirits.

omg i love decade old e celebs HAHAHAH
Just seeing Spoony smiling brings me so much joy. I want this man to be happy. He made me so happy with his humor and still does sometimes.
Whether he comes back to making comedy or not, I wish him the best. If you read this Noah, I mean that. I know it's hard when you get 99 positive messages and just 1 negative, we as human beings have a tendency to focus on that 1 negative. If you can ever catch yourself doing that, try to focus on your numerous messages of support instead. Hope you're able to find peace and enjoy whatever you do with your life.
You know when I first watched Noah's let's play of Phantasmagoria 2, I never would have imagined that the actor who plays the main character and Noah would have a conversation, yet here we are 14 years later and it makes me feel like the most interesting things happen in the most unlikely of moments. So thank you so much Paul for this, it somewhat felt like things came full circle and you two had a great conversation!
This felt like running into two old friends I hadn't seen in years. We've always been here Noah, and we'll still be here whenever you're ready. Thank you both so much for this!
Fuck yeah, that phantasmagoria playthrough is one of my absolute favourites.
Paul, idk how aware you are of this, or maybe you’re fully cognizant of it, but I think you have become a major stepping stone for Noah in a lot of ways, like he said, the conversation was inspiring. The very fact that he was even talking about making another video at all is monumental considering the last several years of his life and all the bad things he’s gone through. In a very big way, you’ve helped revitalize something that’s been dormant for a while.
I was around thirteen when Spoony’s playthrough of Phantasmagoria went live and I followed him all the way up until his hiatus. I’m in my late 20s now but this was an incredible blast to the past for me as a fan of Spoony and the fact that it took this meeting of the minds to even bring Noah to a consideration of making something again is really inspiring, just from talking to you. Obviously it took a lot for him to work up to it, he didn’t respond immediately, but this is a great sign of recovery; even if he never makes a video again, just his spirits being lifted at all and getting to see you guys interact was a great thing to see for a longtime fan. Thank you.
I'm in my early 30s now and Spoony's videos were formative for me during adolescence. Some of his jokes are simple engraved in my brain. I even had a hamster named Blob named after Curtis' rat
who doesnt yell metaphor whenever a metaphor is at play -
I'm hyped for this. I miss spoony
Keep hope alive
The last time I saw Spoony he didn't look good at all, but here he actually looks good. I was really suprised that he was willing to do this, but I think this shows that he's getting better. I would love to see him doing reviews again, especially on that D&D 3 movie (I had no idea there was even a 2nd movie! Made by SyFy wasn't suprising though). There's also a D&D reboot on the way, which looked okay.
seeing this is like meeting an old school friend, you haven't seen for 10 years. And to a degree, that is very true. Spoony, in ye olden UA-cam days, was truly the king of the dorks. He reviewed stuff that nobody even thought about reviewing at the time, like obscure Sega CD FMV games or the movies of Reb Brown. And while he has done mistakes like we all do, he was always a one of a kind youtuber.
So please Spoony, do not let this opportunity go to waste. Renew the experiment for it is not finished yet.
Spoony, back in the day, was my favorite internet person. I'm super happy to see he is doing better now and is working on coming back - I've really missed him and I hope he plans to stick around!
For me, the difference between Spoony and almost every other gaming or movie review content creator out there is that aside from his brilliant wit, keen observations and way with words, his videos had this warm and kind hearted glow. Like he really put a piece of himself into his work.
Guys, who else did have to laugh loud as hell when Spoony told the name of his dog? THAC0 😂👌
Noah truly is a nerd among nerds 🤓. And I mean this in a very appreciative way ❤.
Spoony and Phantasmagoria were way ahead of their time and your performance as Curtis was amazing.
Swat 4, Phantasmagoria and Ripper to this day are some of the best let's plays of all time, hands down, go watch them people, Spoony was truly the best.
I want Spoony back so bad, but I respect his choices, really hope he's doing great.
Noah perfectly captured the intrigue of FMV games like Phantasmagoria II, I still watch the whole review every now and again 👍
Paul, you undersold yourself in the intro, this was a great interview, I was engaged throughout its entirety.
Spoony, I'm glad to see the passion is still there for you and am eager for any new content of yours that may be on the horizon.
Thank you both for this interview.
So glad Spoons is finally at a point where he can talk about coming back. This man has been hugely influencial on me, and has made stuff I can put on at any time in my life and be entertained. Even if its just him sitting there talking about a movie for 3 hours.
Despite my opinions on the way he has behaved these past few years, I think we all want to see him do well in the end. And this is a huge step.
Of all the most "significant" lolcows to emerge over the last decade (Spoony, Dark Syde Phil, Low Tier God, Wings of Redemption, Chris Chan), Spoony is the ONLY one who hasn't (directly) stolen money from fans or who has gotten in any serious trouble with the law. Yeah there was the wreck that he tried to avoid penalties for, but ANYONE would do that if they KNEW a wreck was their fault since NO ONE wants to pay MORE insurance after that.
Yes Noah has said and done a lot of stupid sh1t in the past. But he was never a TOTAL a-hole. Unlike the other lolcows I mentioned who I have nothing but contempt for, I've always had what I call sympathetic contempt for Noah. And I'm on his team because of that. Because unlike the other lolcows I mentioned, Noah is NOT a bad person.
@@SirJoelsuf1 I don't think Noah ever qualified as a lolcow. Which is not something I participate in anyway. He had like one reddit dedicated to him which was pretty active during the whole depressive twitter era, but it has long since even given up on poking fun at him and just wants to see him back too.
Same here. I hope he's getting the help he needs so he can maybe get a redemption arc. The dude has been in a rut for I don't know how many years now, but him actually agreeing to an interview is a good sign, I think. I don't like how he's acted the last few years myself, but I want him to get better. As someone who has struggled with depression, it sucks. Dude was so fucking talented back in the day and it's a shame what happened to him.
So happy to see Spoony again on camera. I hope he goes through with the movie review and that is what gets him back into the game.
Glad to see Noah interacting more again, hopefully he comes back out of his shell. The man is super talented and I always felt saddened with how rough his life has been to him. Sure he’s made mistakes, but overall he’s got a good heart and I’m just happy to see him looking a lot less dejected. Great interview!
HOLY SHIT I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!! THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR WORK PAUL!!!!
Noah! This was beyond heartwarming to watch. It feels weird. I'm 30 now. I was still a kid when I started watching your stuff. Really glad you are starting to feel better.
I am glad to hear from Spoony again!
Life can be hard, and I hope that one day he comes back and has fun.
I never thought I'd see Spoony's face again. I idolized him back in the day, and he's definitely inspired my creative stuff. I hope he's in a better place with himself now.
I can't believe my memories of watching Spoony play that game back in 2010 are almost as old as the game was back then.
I can't wait to hear your conversation!
It's completely insane that 2010 is nearly 13 years ago and 2008 is 15. Insane.
@@KBP120 I know, right? I remember the first few days of 2010; I started checking the end credits of various videos, to see who would be the first to put _Copyright 2010_ at the end. XD I think it was *Classic Game Room.* Now, that moment is older than Age of Empires was then.
The older we get, the faster time seems to be, such a weird thing.
@@EarthboundX Yes. I remember 2012 like it was yesterday. I remember playing _Xenoblade Chronicles,_ _The Last Story._ and _Diablo III_ like it was yesterday.
I had the opposite introduction to these things. I played Phantasmagoria II back when it was new and found Noah because his videos were the first time I'd seen anyone other than myself play the game since.
"beloved and talked about fondly" - thats certainly true for me and my friends, i'm always rewatching counter monkey and my friend grew up with the ultima series, same as Noah, so that series is special to him
Paul, I'm so glad you managed to get Spoony on camera - you seemed to be an inspiring force for him, to help him out of where he's been these last few years. It means a lot to us long-suffering nerds to see a subject of riffing and good-natured ribbing come back and help elevate those doing the critiquing when they hit a slump. You really seem to be a genuinely good guy, and I'm so excited to see what's ahead.
I felt it in my bones that one day this would happen. Many thanks, Paul, for bringing it about! So happy to see Spoony shooting the shit and being actually optimistic about the future.
Hi Paul, thanks for being so patient and understanding with Spoony! So cool to see him on camera and talking about getting back into the groove. Hopefully, he takes it at a pace that works for him :)
Also, as a High School Band Director, thank you for the arts talk! It is VERY important for students. I hated to hear Spoony lost his marching band before he could tech. That sucks...I'm glad we still have it...if only barely.
It warms my heart to see a Spoony so happy and at peace, good for him
This is going to be awesome. Noah still is one of the funniest dudes on the internet.
I really never thought I'd ever hear Noah say he's wants to make reviews again. The man was my biggest inspiration into making videos and hearing him say that literally made me smile so wide. Thank you for such a great interview with him and I'm looking forward to the stream!!
This was so surreal! Seeing Spoony again after so many years, and on top of that in company with Paul! One of the best things I've seen this year! Really looking forward to other interviews!!
This is so cool! I got to meet Spoony way, way back in the day as an awkward, nervous teen and he was just the funniest, sweetest dude. I went through my own mental illness issues not too long after and his videos always gave me a laugh when I needed them. I'm so happy to see he looks like he's looking and feeling better and I hope he gets to live his best life, whether he keeps making videos or not!
I tip my hat to you, Sir! I am yet another of the thousands who wouldn't even have known about Phantas 2 without this man. Thank you for all you are doing with this channel!
FRustrated that I missed this but the announcement made me so happy and it's great to see Paul being his lovely self and Spoony looking and sounding better and happier. I know what chronic health shit can do to you, and have some idea of how stressful the camera can be. Thanks to Spoony for countless hours of entertainment, and for doing this really difficult thing for us, and to Paul for reaching out!
Wow! This interview came out of left field for me, and I'm glad I saw it! Also happy to see Spoony on his way back on an upward stride again. To me, he was one of the funniest reviewers on TGWTG.
I know it's been months now but after watching his old videos for so long, it's actually really nice seeing him again. I know a lot happened several years back but it feels really nice seeing him again like this, I missed this guy.
Incredibly happy to be seeing Spoony again and sincerely wish the very best for him and luck pursuing whatever he decides to do in life!
Absolutely stoked for this! Been waiting ever since I first heard of Conversations with Curtis.
I'm so glad the dude's, at the very least, in a spot where something like this is actually doable now. Wishing him the best.
Spoony brought (more) light to the game... Now the protagonist of the game is bringing (more) light to spoony.
It's f-ing beautiful, really.
Paul, this is awesome. Not only is it great to see you doing well after all these years, but this was wonderful to see Spoony again.
This whole video is a bright spot of hope in some dark times.
We're rooting for you, Spoony. You got many of us through dark times and many of us want to return the favor.
As someone who was a fan of his work for so so long in my formative years, it's truly a relief to see he's getting better enough that he could do this interview and still has his sense of humor. I think I'll have to take a look at that extensive catalogue of videos again sometime. It'll bring back some bad memories, sure, but that's just the way looking back at the past with modern eyes is. But It'll bring back good ones too. Reb Brown and his iconic war cry. That one story where a villain got a flask of acid to his face and completely changing the course of the game. Just a couple off the top of my head. And of course, Phantasmagoria 2, too.
Great to see you're okay, Noah. Hope you do well, no matter what you choose to do going forward.
Now that I've watched the whole thing, I wanted to throw out my fully formed thoughts.
Doing a video about this third D&D movie that I wasn't even aware existed sounds like a delightful...I won't say first step, because I don't know his journey. But I look forward to that step when it comes. All I can say is, if for some reason he's reading these comments to see this is, try to form your own style. Break free from the confines of the stagnant Channel Awesome trappings to forge your own path. Many who were part of that same circle have moved on, and made the kind of work they want to make, on their own terms. That's what you'd need to do too.
Your best work was always about the stuff you were really truly passionate for. The Ultima reviews were iconic (skits aside, imo they were kinda overdone) for that exact reason. I can't imagine how it must've felt to actually meet Lord British himself, one of THE pioneers of...well, gaming, in general. Do what makes you happy, on your own terms.
Remember: for every one that might give you a hard time for your mistakes, there are five who only want to see you do your best. It's easy to get lost in the forest of negativity, you miss the trees. Of posivity. I think. Boy I mangled this metaphor bad. Uhh, just do your best; I and others like me will cheer you on, no matter what you decide to do. Regards.
@@traewilson5127 I personally thought the Ultima skits were some of the best skits period, particularly the early ones. The blacksmith working on the space shuttle and Gandalf with a grenade launcher freaking live in my memory. Just small 20-30 second skits sprinkled lightly on the reviews.
@@tinkerer3399 Oh no no, those were great. I meant the not-funny-by-design skits like everything with the Guardian. Skits are one thing. Drama and storytelling? Not why I'm here, chief. I want the laughs.
First, a fantastic video, getting to learn more about Noah Antwiler AND Paul Stetler (fellow band pit player here). Both of you guys were great to listen to. Second, SO glad Noah is in a better place and wants to do more work. It’s honestly great just to see him doing better, and his body of work stands on its own, but I definitely hope we get more Spoony material in the future! Thank you again for this excellent Halloween treat! We ALL heard that, Curtis! PHANTASMAGOOOORIA!!!
this was a great video! I came here as a really old supporter of Spoony, i was watching his Phantasmagoria videos on his site back when the embedded video wasn't youtube! so happy to see him and i really think you've helped him a lot, you are such a genuine and real person and I want to thank you for helping someone who made college for me bearable
Some guy makes a funny play though in his room back in 2008 and it leads here. I’m sure he had no idea. I’m glad to finally see this come 🧡 what an absolutely treat
I truly hope Noah see’s all the supportive comments here and realizes how much of an impact he has made on everyone that followed him. I’m a late comer and only really know of Spoony from the Rabbit Hole episodes and second hand Nostalgia Critic stuff. But I’ve watched most of his Counter Monkey stuff this year and find it extremely entertaining and enthralling. I even purchased an old DnD campaign based on his conversation about it. Really a great guy, wish him the the best.
I'm glad you chose not to scrap this interview, as there are definitely some intriguing conversation points in here.
I honestly feel that interviews like this are doing an important service to gaining a window into what you referred to (very accurately), as the “Wild West” of online content creation in the pre-UA-cam area. People like Spoony, the Nostalgia Critic, and the other people at Channel Awesome were essentially UA-camrs before UA-camrs existed. I personally would love to hear more of Spoony’s insights into what being a professional content creator entailed back in the days before there was any kind of precedent for this being a sustainable career path thanks to UA-cam ad revenue and video sponsors.
The arts, and drama/acting in particular, seems to have really been a positive guiding force for both of you in your youth, which has continued into your adulthoods. I’d really get a kick out of you two delving deeper into the art of acting, theater, and drama in general. What appeal it held for you, what you got out of it, role models/inspirational figures, favorite actors and actresses, most fulfilling role you've personally played, roles you'd love to play but haven't yet, etc.
It was also nice hearing you both discuss some of Phantasmagoria 2’s positive aspects, such as the admirably even-handed way that homosexuality is handled in the game’s story, especially for the time. Yes, we all get a kick out of dunking on the game’s sillier aspects, but like Spoony said, such a mature approach to exploring alternate forms of sexuality was virtually unheard of in video games (hell, even in a vast majority of mainstream movies) back then.
"I heard that Curtis" Still quote this line from time to time. Great Interview.
Really missed Noah so much, I grew up on the Phantasmagoria 2 LP.
I've been waiting for this to happen for years now and I loved it. So glad that we'll be getting the live stream as well!
I can't believe it. This is what I wanted from the start!
Not to overdramatize but this is one of the most extraordinary things I have ever seen. The Phantasmagoria games were a central part of my gaming life when I was younger. I still remember having to talk my parents into letting me buy Phantas 2 because of the theme, and I must have played it a hundred times.
Then many years later, of course I stumbled across Spoony's hilarious Lets Play, which made me fall in love with the game for different reasons as an adult. So to see these two having a converse like this is so so weird (in a good way!) as it's like a part of my life having come full circle, it overwhelms with all kinds of good memory vibes!
Thanks so much for putting together this series, Paul, and for being a part of many a 90s gamers fun times.
Thank you so much Paul for bringing are friend back 💗
Phantasmagoria 2 let's play with spoony was such a classic. Interesting to see Curtis and him talk. Such a cool moment after not hearing from Noah after so long. Thanks for this
Many thanks for making this. I think many of us can sympathize with Spoony on such creative initiative problems.
I am so grateful to God and to you, Mr. Paul, that you were able to get this interview and that Mr. Noah handled it so well. A literal answer to prayer over his life. Thank you. God bless and guide you both.
Spoony and phantasmagoria 2 kinda formed a bit of my childhood, i grew up watching them and its definitely a series i kept coming back to over the years. I hope you both end up succeeding at whatever endeavours you embark on, youre both special to a lot of people.
I'm looking forward to this more than any movie or video game in years
It's a Halloween miracle
I just wanna say thank you Curtis!
Spoony is one of my favorite content creators and his videos have brought me countless laughs and hours of entertainment.
I'm glad to hear he's considering doing reviews again. He's really inspired me with his ability to share his passion for obscure games.
Omg, called you by your characters name there. Sry about that! 😅
Spoony was a huge part of my online life in my late teens and early 20s, and I would binge Counter Monkey all day when working on things. I have all the main episodes of Counter Monkey saved to my computer, that's how much I loved it. I was crushed to see him seemingly fall apart around 2016, and without getting into too much detail, that's roughly when my life fell apart as well. Like Spoony, I've been working to get myself out of the pit of despair, and I've made good progress, particularly this year and despite many setbacks. It's just a little bit sweeter for me to see that Noah's been making that trip as well, slow as it may have to be for both of us. Even if Spoony doesn't do a formal review again, I'd love if he could restart Counter Monkey or something like it. It would be a glimmer of hope in this seemingly dismal world, and a sign that not everything has to turn into "shit and betrayal".
"Curtissssssssss my boy MUHAHAHAHAAHAAHA... I mean, hello Curtis..."
Nice interview ! You both look great, after all these years :)
Phantasmagoria 2 had its quirks, akward and unintentionally funny moments, but it was an interesting and well made FMV game, especially for the time. It's great content to react to. I think that's why Spoony's let's play is so great and fondly remembered. I still watch it at least once a year.
Amazing interview. I've been a fan of Noah since 2008 and he introduced me to Phantasmagoria 2. It's great to see Curtis himself bring Spoony back on camera. Here's to more videos!
Noah's Counter Monkey single handedly made me interested in table top role playing. I've been playing and DMing for almost half a decade and I've got so many great stories of my own now. So many glorious triumphs, tragic falls from grace, betrayals, nail-biting combats, hilarious character deaths, the whole nine yards. I first watched his content when I was 12ish. I'm 27 now.
Noah, whether you come back or not, you'll always be a part of my childhood as surreal as that is to think about. But I do hope you come back.
Whoa... this is an internet miracle!!!!
Curtis, the man, the myth, the legend himself, managed to drag the reclusive bard back in front of the camera. Noah still looks kinda angry, and maybe gained some more weight. But whenever he speaks, you can really hear him brightening up. May be he is finally realizing his fans had forgiven him for what he did? Whatever the reason may be, it sure is good to see Noah again, and we have Curtis to thank for this miraculous act of charity & kindness!!!!
God bless to the both of you & have a nice day!
So good to see Spoony behind the camera again.
One of my biggest influences in what i do is Noah, his way of expressing emotions for comedy on his review has inspired me many times, even recently i've been watching some of his videos to get some inspiration for my own work.
It would be an absolute honor for me to have a word with him as a fellow creator and for me it was a light of joy hearing him speak about future projects.
I believe in you Noah, you can make it, take all the time you need.
Man I hope he comes back. I remember finding him not long after finding the Nostalgia Critic (I think in 2013, just as NC came back) and just throwing myself into all his videos and then eagerly awaiting each new one. I must've watched his review of the Ultima games and Final Fantasy several dozen times. To this day I think the Ultima retrospective is one of the best dissections I've seen of a series in the gaming side of UA-cam. I really enjoyed watching this. It's good to know video making is on the table still.
I felt so emotional watching that, the vulnerability from both of you was touching.
Really looking forward to seeing you guys watch that curated playthrough, but hearing you two talk back and forth about your experiences in your fields was a treat!
I've been watching Spoony since the beginning, and it's great seeing him doing well enough to come on the show!
What a wonderful interview! I hadn't seen the spoony let's play in full (just bits and pieces at some point), only after the CwC interviews started was that I sat and watched it - it was great fun. I wish all the best for Noah, and hope to see him again soon here!
Everyone: "Spoony hasn't shown his face on camera in years."
Curtis: "Hold my rat!"
Blob?
You know, it would be perfect if those two gents got together to create content beyond the interviews, it could be anything, really. There's a nice chemistry going on here that is very entertaining to watch. I believe something really amazing could come out if they joined forces.
