Curtis being the catalyst for Spoony coming back into the public light would be ironic considering that Spoony brought Phantasmagoria more into the public light. The circle is complete!
He possesses such a soothing, welcoming tone that makes you feel like you're talking to a good counselor/therapist, but without the stigma that those positions bring.
As an adult I now understand why Spoony had to take a step back. However the influence he had on me growing up can never be understated. Love hearing from him again, thank you guys so much!
It's easy to feel entitled as a fan(regardless of monetary cost, it still incurs a time cost. Free lunch and all that). But as some of us grew up, we learned that it isn't all about us. And that creators are HUMANS too, and can make mistakes. Some people have trouble forgiving him, which is their prerogative. But I love how so many people are understanding and letting everlasting compassion override the pervasive internet hate.
As much as I would LOVE for spoony to make reviews again. It will be hard going back. A lot of fans are still angry at him whether it's called for or not. And fan entitlement will always exist and make things dofficult
@@meapickle No one is immune to redemption over struggles with mental health and the parasocial relationship of content creation on UA-cam. I can easily see, after an endless amount of time in relative terms; just sincerity and commitment to whatever he ends up making, wether it be standalone for the time being, or forever.. it can be done. Take for example, ActionButton with their lead Tim Rogers as an example for a blend of biographical/creator-as-the-self/stream of consciousness.
@@Zjwex He took a step back cause he wanted to be lazy, then his laziness devolved into complacency, which then devolved into misery.... it's a tale as old as time.... aaaaaand It's his own damn fault. It's also the reason spoony will never ever return to making reviews of any kind. Cause he's a lazy, lousy, bum.
Spoony -- your videos got me through the darkest period of my life. I understand what struggling with mental health is like... I hope you're well, and on the days when you're not, please know that your videos saved my life. I have a wife and son now... a career.. I'd have none of that if I hadn't gotten through the darkest period of my life, and I got through it by binging your videos over and over and over again. I've watched a lot of your videos dozens and dozens of times. Thanks man.
So good to see Noah again. He really is as beloved now as he was then. There were so many comments in the chat about how they’d been watching his videos regularly even 14 years after posting. I hope he overcomes whatever mental struggles he’s facing, and isn’t shy about it. It makes him relatable to all of us who have. I’ve been wanting to see his face again in his element for years and the love is as strong now as it was then. He’d be a great return guest, and I hope he realizes how unafraid he can be to be himself 🧡
I just recently did an Internet Archive dive of pretty much all his content a couple months ago, and from this vid, it sounds like he might be in a good enough headspace to start making content again, maybe not like he used to, but adapting to the new landscape. And I love the idea that's it's "Curtis" who helped bring him back.
On the topic of mental health, I myself am Bipolar and have lost many years of my life due to the turbulent mood swings. It wasn't until January 2020 when I finally took control of my life because I couldn't live with how broken I had become. I got help, I got medicated, I got stable. During the pandemic lockdown I went through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and learned to treat myself better, and to make a long story short (too late), I'm doing much better, so I understand full well how hard it can be for anyone going through anything similar. That's why I'm so glad to see Spoony improving and taking care of himself, and yes, "take it one step at a time" is sometimes the best way. You can't rush recovery. I just want Spoony to be well, and I can tell he's on the right track. Thank you, Paul for holding these discussions! They're an absolute delight!
My head practically exploded when I found out about this interview! Paul, I cannot thank you enough for organizing this. Not just for giving Noah the platform, but also because you did such an amazing job as host. Really just perfect job all-around, this was so much fun to listen to.
What a legend. His Counter Monkey series help me sleep, no matter how many times I listen to them, always interesting, always comforting. I hope Noah can work things out and it was awesome to see this get-together.
True! I would frequently fall asleep listening to his Counter Monkey videos, which where honestly my first foray into TTRPGs. That's not to say they were so boring they put me to sleep, just like listening to them as background noise when going to bed. Lol
Thank you Paul for making this happen in the best way possible. Even if Noah never makes a video again, I'm so happy we were able to give him his flowers and tell him he's still appreciated.
Dang Curtis, or Paul, you're a goddamn silver fox, you know that? I'm not gay or anything but seeing how Phantasmagoria 2 was released back when I was a small child and you were an adult in that thing... Wow. Aged like wine, man. Really glad to randomly find one of my childhood heroes actually looking good, having a podcast and a wife and stuff. Kudos!
This is just so surreal. I NEVER in my life would guess that I would see Spoony and Curtis hanging out and having a good time, nearly 15 years later. It might sound pathetic but these videos were such a joy and comfort to listen to when I was a young adult. Thanks to everyone for this.
Seeing Noah's smile during the comments was somethin special. Genuinely hope for his return to reviews and giving us hilarious content that we watch for years to come. No pressure though :)
Great job Curtis! I’m from Ukraine, now studying in the US on the film major. Spoony experiments (that I was watching in Russian dub since childhood) and counter monkey were two main things that helped me to pass IELTS and went abroad, since I was watching so many of those videos that I just got used to hear and understand English on the background! Thank you Noah, me and all my friends are still waiting for you to return. “Dungeon Mastering a great game” is still the best guide to DMs and “Thiefs World” is still the best D&D story I ever heard. Curtis, my appreciations again. Thank you all for your amazing work!
seeing spoony come back from a dark place and smiling genuinely gives me hope for facing my own struggles. Love you spoony and thank you curtis for this very fun and noistalgic stream!
Noah was a huge inspiration to a lot of content creators that have come about since the "Wild West" days of video essay content on the internet. The entire old "Channel Awesome" Roster has had a major hand in that. People like Allison Pregler, Ed Glaser, Nash Bozard, Joe Vargas, Lindsay Ellis, James Rolfe, and Noah were all pioneers in the field of internet reviews and vlogging. There are days jokes Noah made in his content still pop into my head, when I see a certain old game, or in specific situations. They were all content creators who were a massive chunk of my formative years in my late teens, and whose work I still appreciate well into my 30's. Having seen his struggles over the years with mental illness and imposter syndrome, and watching him lose passion for something he kindled passion for in so many others was such an era ending moment for me. But seeing these past couple conversations with him, and seeing that "Spoony Charm" start to shine through again with a noticeable motivation to "get back on the horse", and with SO much support from his fans that stuck with him and kept the fire burning for so long has been amazing. I can't wait to see him release whatever he plans, be it short form commentary, long form retrospectives, etc... Just seeing him get behind the camera and deliver that quick wit and observational humor to topics and media is something I've waited a long time for, and I hope that finally - after all these years - it's *finally* "The Year of Spoony". Thank you, Paul. Not just for stepping out of the shadows to make this channel and cover things we all held dear in our youth, but for helping to bring someone else back into the limelight, and back to the fandom that has missed their insight for so long.
Please let spoony know that he literally saved my life back in 2013 when I discovered his videos. It's really amazing how just listening to a funny guy talking about anything can make you feel better when you are down hard. A few months ago I lost the most beloved person I had in my life. She died and I lost my will to exist. But seeing Noah again, smiling, being funny, just being a bit healthier...genuinely made me feel a bit better. We are all coping in one way or another. Noah please never underestimate how much good you've done for some people, cause you have. Make videos cause it's fun to do so and the rest will follow. Even if you fail, nobody will hold it against you. Of course there will be mean comments and people being scummy. But decent and honest will always outweigh the rest.
Holy crap, I remember that I loved Spoony's let's plays, but it's been years, and I had forgotten just how funny they were. I burst out laughing several times watching this. I'm going to have to rewatch some of his stuff. 🙂 I'm glad to see him again, seemingly doing better and wanting to get back into things. I know I've said it before, but his stuff was terrific, in some ways I would say in a league of its own. I think it's a mix him being genuinely talented and witty, while also being authentic and putting a lot of heart into his work. Noah, in the off chance you get to see this, I'd just like to thank you for all the laughs and stories. I hope you have success in whatever you decide to do, and I'll be there for it. Paul, thank you again for doing this. This was a great stream, and you seem like a really good guy. I look forward to following your channel as well. :-)
My mother lives in a different country, we chat over the internet a few times a week. In the latest one, she brings up how the UA-cam algorithm offered her some NC videos and related things. She talks to me about that, and mentions a few others, including Spoony. I comment that he stopped making videos a while back. This is how I learned from my Mom that Spoony is potentially planning on making a return, and here I am now binging your interviews with him. There is something poetic about you being the catalyst of his return, one of those rare moments in life that makes me believe the line Tolkien spoke through Gandalf: "There are other forces at work in the world beyond those of evil." Thank you for not giving up on reaching out to him, like the many others in these comments, Spoony's content and personality was highly influential at a part of my life, and hearing him again has been a source of joy when I needed it most. And on the of chance Spoony sees this: Take your time, man. Breathe deep, find stable ground, and do what you need to make sure you are okay. As much as I love to hear you are thinking about returning, knowing that you are feeling well is more important. You deserve to be just as happy as you have made all of us.
Thank you, Curtis. You're an incredibly kind and wise person. I think this is the first time Spoony has been on camera in years. Even if Spoony doesn't come back to making content, i'm glad to have some type of closure.
I last watched Noah's playthrough of the game way back when it originally debuted - had to be at LEAST in 2007 or 2008 because I was in my last two years of university. Loved it then but I love it even more now - the irreverent humor just LANDS perfectly and it shows just how talented Noah at comedy - he is never insufferable, knows when to "punch" a joke home, and comes up with the craziest most hilarious out-of-left-field shit ever. I'm so happy to see he's doing much better. It's funny how after all these years I actually wanted to find clips of his Phantasmagoria playthrough and stumbled upon your gold mine of a channel FULL of interviews with folks involved in the game. And to see Noah again in a happier place is so awesome to see. I've been in a dark place like that before... and I honestly think him agreeing to do these videos is definitely a "turning the page" moment. He doesn't look like he's carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders here... he's laughing and smiling. Thanks for this!
Spoony you're the reason why I fell in love with Dungeons & Dragons. You opened the doors for me in telling us how deep the game was in it's books and stories. It felt like you were a brother showing me how cool this game is.
Serious note, it's great to see Noah is well on cam. As someone with Bipolar Type2 I have to say he is doing REMARKABLY well considering his past episodes (I mean his mental lapses not his shows). I was legit concerned he might not have lasted this long. I just recently got off my antidepressant like 4weeks ago when I had serious neurological side effects. Now I have nothing for the mania or the depression. All the meds have tried have only made it worse. But I got a great therapist and he has given me several tips and tricks to manage my condition. I will be looking forward and hoping for the Spoony One to return. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone
Paul just seems like a really warm and understanding individual. Nice to see him helping Noah just enjoy himself infront of a camera again. Paul was a wonderful host in this, and it was good to see him also just enjoy the humor. Also it was great to hear more about the 'behind the scenes' of Phantasmagoria 2. Been ages since I played it, and ahem, I sadly remember having to get tips on how to beat it as well, when I couldn't figure out the puzzles anymore.
I don’t know if either of these gentlemen realize what a treat this is. Many of those who were thrilled to see Noah again were enthused because it was like being visited by an old friend. Thank you Paul for facilitating these. Spoony, hope to see more experiments in the future.
This is still so surreal seeing the two of you interacting, but more importantly it's great seeing Noah enjoying himself and happy. He's one of the main inspirations of mine in terms of making video content. Thanks for this Paul, this was wonderful.
Seeing you two together like this truly warms my heart. I remember back in like 2010 managing to download the entire Phantasmagoria review series onto my crappy MP3 player so I could listen to Noah and Curtis/Paul go on their adventures while I fell asleep. Did that throughout high school, college, and into adulthood and it never got old. Much love to you both for one-sided friendship you've given me over the years, and thanks for always being there to pass me a malt at the spiritual Dreaming Tree.
Thanks for helping bring Spoony out of his shell. He really seems more like himself here than he has in the last several years of sparse appearances. I've had mixed emotions about his actions around the fall of his career, but I ultimately understand his mind has always struggled with being in a bad place, and I've hoped for him to find his peace. That he would grace us with his comedy again would be a bonus, but a welcome one. I'm glad he's doing better, and seeing him meet Paul feels like all this silly internet video culture has truly amounted to something positive. One man starts a youtube channel to bring people together over a weird FMV game he starred in 26 years ago because another man made fun of how he looks with his shirt off 10 years ago. Amazing!
So great to see Spoony smiling on camera again. His stuff helped me get through some tough times back then. I wish him all the best in whatever he does.
Had no idea you guys talked! I've watched Spoony's Phantasmagoria 2 videos every year for the past over 10 years. Surreal to see you two riff on the game when Spoonys been quiet for so long. Thanks for making it happen Paul and good luck to Spoony.
19:49 I'd love to see Spoony talk about indie horror games. It's quite fascinating and made me back into gaming after so many years. Had no idea he was playing them too. Great to see Spoony again btw!
just a few days ago I went back to Spoony's old content (yet again :D) and now he sits here, with Curtis of all people. I really am missing Noah and his creative output for oh so many years now. He's still one of my all-time favorite content creators out there. Makes me unbelievably happy to see him in that positive state after such a long time. Wish you the best for your possible comeback and your life in general. You always were a great inspiration and helped me through tough times not only once in my life.
well, I'd say he looks better now...but when he was living on his own he looked malnourished, tired, and sickly. I'm glad he looks okay, i just hope he can hold his life together and fond happiness.
It's great to see him look healthier, but it's really not necessary to make such comparisons. It's not really true either. No matter if you like them or not, Doug and Rob Walker haven't aged that badly. I'd even say Doug looks better now than in his early videos. Angry Joe has also aged pretty well. Even Lindsay Ellis doesn't look that bad for a mother in her late 30s. Phelous hasn't changed that much either, only his hair got a little thinner and greyer. Chris Stuckmann and Brad Jones have aged very well, I think. Allison Pregler probably looks the most different compared to her CA days, but I guess that might be because of some health issues. Don't know how the other CA folks are doing, because I don't follow them anymore. This is the main point why I think those comparisons aren't such a great idea: We don't know what those people are going through in their lives. We don't know their health status and it's also none of our business. Fact is: When you're getting older some health issues will hit you *much* harder than in your younger years. Especially people who have to take medication for a long period of time. In your younger years you often don't have severe side effects. But the older you get and the longer you're taking the meds the more side effects you will experience. This can cause many changes for your body. When I remember correctly, Spoony mentioned in one of the more recent interviews that he was able to reduce some of the medication he had to take over the last couple of years. This might be a strong factor why he's starting to look better again. The low resolution of his webcam probably also helps. ;) However, I wish Spoony all the best and hope, this positive trend will continue for him. Greetings from Germany :)
It was wonderful to watch the stream all the way through and see all of the love for Spoony. With all of that he's been through over the last few years, seeing all of the positivity sent his way is wonderful! But I would LOVE to see Noah and Paul play Ripper, that would be incredible!!!
Yea I really needed to go to bed to get my kids up for school in the morning but I stayed up well past midnight to watch this stream. I was surprised to see it on my feed I hadn't opened up youtube in a few days.
I know this is gonna be a weird compliment but you have a very relaxing voice. Like unintentional ASMR. So that’s just a nice extra layer to your excellent content.
2 things, cause I know you read all of these Paul cause you're that kind of guy. First off, thank you, I don't know that anyone else could have pulled this off. You're such a wholesome and fun personality and I'm so glad you wanted to do this. Second, I haven't seen Noah this animated in YEARS. You could probably do a 4 hour stream with him, if you could handle it, no pressure. Just being genuine and curious and having fun with the art made this so enjoyable to watch and it was really really nice to see Spoony have fun again. And to Spoony, do what you're doing man, we love you.
Glad that Noah is back and able to watch his old stuff. It was nice to hear Paul get a kick out of it as well. Overall credit to you Paul for sticking to this, and Daniel for pulling him into these games because I'm a huge playthrough watcher, it's so comfy.
I was dying of laughter during the riffing commentary listening to this on my run. Been a fan of what this channel has been doing since the first video and glad to see this team up happen!
Spoony introduced me to online video media. Specifically his Phantasmagoria 2 play through. I am forever grateful to both of you for countless hours of enjoyment, continuing to this day with Game Grumps.
Found this a year too late. Whilst listening I was thinking g about what it was that separated Spoony and authenticity is definitely what made it special. Never forget who taught us the value of authenticity.
Like others, Spoony got me through a rough patch. I remember listening to his counter monkey videos on a 45 minute walk there and back from college. I wouldn't play D&D as seriously as I do now without Noah's work. I still watch through most of Spoony's videos every year or so, and I still really enjoy them. Next time I watch his Phantasmagoria let's play will be with a renewed perspective as a result of Conversations with Curtis. It is absolutely a trip to see the actor who played Curtis, such a minor part of gaming as a whole, be such an extraordinarily humble individual and to hear your reactions to Spoony's content. Thanks for putting this together! I hope it did Noah some good to hear from all the people who have benefitted from his work.
When he does come back. He is going to have a lot of explaining to do. Where he was, what happens if you, but it is great to see you alive and well spoony.
I know I'm late to the party, but this was great. Big thanks to Paul and his team. I'll definitly check the channel out. And props to the algorythm for recommending this after rewatching Phantasmagoria 2 let's play for the 10th time. Take your time Spoony, no pressure. You're still you, you still got it.
Lately there's a lot of hardships and the world going crazy, stuff that makes me wonder where we went wrong on the timeline. However, this live-stream and the previous video are some of the actual right things happening, the crossover we never knew we needed until it happened and it was magical! I am also extremely glad to see that Spoony is doing better and working on getting his groove back. I am grateful that through these events he was shown that he is still liked, beloved and remembered, which in a way mirrors the game that brought you two together. Thank you Paul for making great things happen for old fans of Spoony and new fans of your gaming journey, consider yourself subbed!
Good to see Spoony so spontaneous and looking like he's having fun in front of the camera again. I rewatch his stuff at least once every couple of years ever since i discovered him. I'd love to see some new content but not at the expense of his health. Stay strong Noah! Curtis I love what you're doing.
I remember finding Spoony after searching for a let's play to P2. As a long time fan of MST3K his take on the game was priceless. I even got a program to rip the videos and reapply them to a DVD that I watched I don't know how many times as I went to sleep (back then in 2008 I didn't have youtube in my bedroom only the computer). Also I was a fan of the Ultima games, never played 9 and I'm glad I didn't. So much to say for all of Spoony's created content even the VERY detailed explanation of Final Fantasy XIII, which was a confusing as hell game to follow. From the rants and raves, betrayal counts, I heard that Curtis and What's a Paladin to just simply breaking down the logic he has made so much - more interesting and I'm glad I found his channel oh so many years ago. Thanks to CWC for reaching out to Noah and I hope it truly helps both of you creators understand how much you guys have not only entertained but got us through rough or boring times when we needed it.
Noah's series about Ultima is legendary. I never played the games, but he walks you through all of them so well that he really makes you feel like you've played them all after watching it. Wish him the best!
Thanks so much for putting this together, Mr. Craig! Noah has touched the lives of countless people, and in his own way brought small bits of joy to many going through difficult times. It's comforting to know that he's making his way back to a good place himself - not just as a content creator, but as a person. Sometimes, just knowing that there are people like yourself in the world who genuinely care and are there to provide support can make all the difference for someone coming back from a mental health crisis. And it's wonderful to see so many people coming out to show Spoony the love he deserves, too! As many have said, great for both Noah and his fanbase to see him in better spirits once again!
Thank you so much for bringing Spoony onto the channel. He was and is my favorite UA-camr of all time; he reinvigorated my love for D&D with Counter Monkey and help me revisit classic games from years back. I'm so glad he's getting better and wish him nothing but a great recovery. And to say Thank you to him for all the great memories.
What do I thank Spoony for? Getting me to finally watch Highlander and, ultimately get me to listen and sing "Princes of the Universe" this past December. Great interview!!!
paul, you did an amazing job here! you are wonderfully cool and disarming and charismatic. i appreciate you reaching out to noah over the last several months and making this happen. i can't say enough good things about how you made this such a fun, warm space!
Thank you so much for this Paul. I'll make sure to check out your other content. It is always fun to see someone dive into a new hobby that you are familiar with. It was great to see Noah again. I know he was never completely gone, but he seems much more happy and healthy now than whenever I checked in during these past years. I wish him all the best, and if he decides to return to reviews, vlogs, or whatever, I'll be there to watch.
Phantasmagoria 2, Watching Spoony play through it is still one of my most cherished gaming and video memories (couldn't get it to run as a non tech savvy however old I was). Im so happy to see this channel exist and explore all the roots that this game has now out in the internet.
I just love everything about this and I don't know what to say. It is genuinely great to experience new content with Spoony and Paul is the perfect guy for it.
these spoony videos are great. thanks for taking the time to interview and give him a platform. his rpg reviews have an "old school" feeling to them that I mlss. He showed lots of maturity in stepping back, though I think he suffered from being in the epicenter of huge changes happening to the industry at the time. Tons of respect for everyone involved here. Never seen his Phantamagoria review before but his mst3k style works so well for fmv games. Will need to give that game a closer look today. so yeah great lnterview, have a blessed day.
Great interview. I’m in my mid forties now so all the stuff Noah put in his videos was also my childhood. I find myself nostalgic now for the old style UA-cam from 15 years ago when he first started his stuff. The UA-cam of today feels very different and I don’t find the same kind of review videos as much.
Paul watching this brought me back. Another commenter said something similar earlier but it’s just moving to see Spoony again and the beauty that it’s you bringing him on your show. Full circle. I didn’t realize how much that video series meant to a younger me.
I was around 12 or 13 when i found spoony and something about his humor and narrative that held my attention so much that i would re-watch constantly so many of his videos in wait for his next video. He for sure help formed my humor growing up and what media i watch and the appreciation for stuff i most likely would never of watched or play. I miss Spoony so much in my feed of videos. Seeing his mental and personal life stuff getting the best of him hurts to see happen to someone you saw brought such great entertainment to the internet. I do truly hope he really comes back one day even if for one last video. Spoony thank you for being such a great internet influence and a influence in my life!
Thank you for this. I missed the live stream as I was at work. I was looking forward to seeing the conversation continue. Noah has been a staple in my life, for hours of entertainment. Good to see you Noah, and glad your doing well. Thank you Paul for reaching out and making this a reality.
I do hope Spoony makes a full comeback, but if not, being a returning guest on Paul's show would be a nice coda for the Spoony Experiment. It's largely thanks to Spoony that I got to write and have published my articles about movies, games and other nerdy stuff. I even covered a lot of things Spoony got me interested in, like Knightmare.
Sorry I missed the livestream! I wanted to be here to support. Been watching Spoony for many years, I have a lot of respect for him and his work. Also thought you did an amazing job as Curtis. I really appreciate how you and the actor who played Trevor talk about your roles in that game. Very overlooked queer representation which has rarely been done so well. Really trailblazing stuff.
Every time I've looked and checked on the internet community, as far as Spoony is concerned... I always see it full of toxic folks complaining about stupid things. And it always felt like I was screaming into the abyss when I was like "man, don't you guys realize that it's obvious he fell into depression? It's not something you should really be making fun of." And like, I'm reading through these comments and it is really making me come close to crying. I'm so happy that so many people are coming out in support of Spoony. It's just wonderful. I'd love to see him review Final Fantasy XV. And Spoony, you don't have to have this high-production skit at the end where you fight the main character. :) IMO, your Magnus Opus is the Ultima series reviews, and those are pretty skit-light.
Paul, we love you for all of this. Spoonys review is the reason i sought out this game myself. Spoony, we miss you. You were the fucking greatest there was. Beyond all the old UA-cam titans you stood above. We all want to see you rise again. Come back brother, wreck the fucking internet
For some reason, this video doesn't appear in the list of videos on the Conversations With Curtis page. I had to wait for this to appear in my recommended!
I grew up watching Spoony, he really came into prominence right when I was getting really into films, gaming and roleplaying around the age of 12-13. The guy had such a huge impact on myself and my entire friend group in terms of humor and culture its honestly kind of remarkable, I can thank him personally for introducing me into B-movies, old school gaming and proper roleplaying which I now enjoy regularly. He'll probably never really understand the impact he had and I'm very happy to see him finally getting back out there and that he seems to be doing well.
This was such a great watch. You two make for a good streaming duo I gotta say! Thank you both and I hope to see more of this legendary crossover in the future!
Man with his hair back, he looks like old Spoony He looked like a trainwreck and it seems just from being able to smile and be "back" once has refreshed him Im actually having hope of even the chance of him returning and I never even dreamed that was a possibility!
I'm glad Noah seems to be in a better place than he has been the last several years. Also I am glad that you embraced it. I'm sure there are some creatives who get rather upset when their work is mocked even if isn't really an attack on them as a person.
Spoony was one of the major inspirations that helped me get into the business. And as someone who has also struggled with burnout I feel for Noah 100%. Thanks for helping bring this full circle, and all my best to Noah. I'm just happy to see he's doing better. Noah, you take care of yourself dude, okay? Ain't none of the other mess make a difference eh. 🙏🙏🙏
We are just glad to see you spoon and know you’re ok, or at least trying. If you don’t want to come back to the online life, that’s fine. Do what’s healthy for you. Thanks for all the great videos. What is a nice surprise is knowing Paul Morgan Stetler is a totally chill and cool dude to the max. 10/10 would chill, good energy.
watching this is like therapy, particularly the playthrough parts. Spoony's let's play of Phantasmagoria 2 has been my favourite LP series for years. And, frankly, that's saying something cuz I've been unreasonably obsessed with the LP medium since the very beginning in 2007 or so and the content's been going HARD. I've been following Noah for a long time and this past decade has been fairly rough. I really hope he gets back the drive to continue producing this type of content one day. thank you, Paul!
Curtis being the catalyst for Spoony coming back into the public light would be ironic considering that Spoony brought Phantasmagoria more into the public light. The circle is complete!
"When I left you, I was but a learner, now I am the master."
We're going to go Full Circle - Therese
The circle is now complete :D
It's like poetry, it rhymes.
Yes!
Everybody is talking about Spoony (deservedly), but can we also recognize how wonderful Paul is as a host?
He’s so excellent.
Yeah Paul rocks
He possesses such a soothing, welcoming tone that makes you feel like you're talking to a good counselor/therapist, but without the stigma that those positions bring.
Aww, thanks folks.
Who tf is paul
@@Zjwex He took a step back cause he wanted to be lazy, then his laziness devolved into complacency, which then devolved into misery.... it's a tale as old as time.... aaaaaand
It's his own damn fault.
It's also the reason spoony will never ever return to making reviews of any kind.
Cause he's a lazy, lousy, bum.
I feel that Paul is a much better therapist than those who tried to help Spoony.
Keep it up, you are bringing Spoony back.
I hope a villainous version of Spoony doesn't turn him into a pizza.
@@Denny-Thray the HecaSpoon
I will randomly bring up an old Spoony Final Fantasy or Ultima Retrospective set of videos to watch and laugh about they are GOLD.
I feel like everyone who hated him has.... burned away in the fires of their own toxicity. Only us old fans who just loved what he did remain.
Too bad that no amount of compliments and donations, will make him create videos again.
Counter Monkey was legendary! Seen all of them more times than I can remember :)
It's one of the things I sleep to most commonly as well. I've practically memorized half the episodes at this point.
Me too.
You singlehandedly brought Spoony back for us. Thanks man
Dang Curtis, or Paul, you're a goddamn silver fox, you know that? I'm not gay or anything but seeing how Phantasmagoria 2 was released back when I was a small child and you were an adult in that thing... Wow. Aged like wine, man. Really glad to randomly find one of my childhood heroes actually looking good, having a podcast and a wife and stuff. Kudos!
This is just so surreal. I NEVER in my life would guess that I would see Spoony and Curtis hanging out and having a good time, nearly 15 years later. It might sound pathetic but these videos were such a joy and comfort to listen to when I was a young adult. Thanks to everyone for this.
We are all in this boat together, we stuck with Spoony because he was our comfort UA-camr.
@@snakeslife-uroborodjinn790 I didn't like his political beliefs to be honest/
Same. I'm french, studied English in college. But I can say I definitly learned more from Noah's content than from my university classes.
seeing spoony come back from a dark place and smiling genuinely gives me hope for facing my own struggles.
Even if he edited sh!t in, the timing made all the difference. Impeccable.
Holy crap, I remember that I loved Spoony's let's plays, but it's been years, and I had forgotten just how funny they were. I burst out laughing several times watching this. I'm going to have to rewatch some of his stuff. 🙂
I'm glad to see him again, seemingly doing better and wanting to get back into things.
This means a lot to a lot of people Curtis.
Absolutely mental how this is even a thing I'm settling down to watch. Legends, both of you! Thank you so much for this.
Just the voice of Noah calm me :) I need to rewatch ultima (again)
I'm 40+ and this make me emotionnal! Take care Noah!
It cannot be understated how great of a job you're doing Paul, thank you again for bringing Noah back and being a part of his healing process.
Preamble ends here: 4:06
Good to see Spoony start to come out of his shell and open up. Hope he continues to improve.
Really enjoyed the stream, hope the two of you continue to collab in the future. Came for the Noah, staying for the Paul. :)
Noah has aged infinitely better than everyone else at Channel Awesome
well, I'd say he looks better now...but when he was living on his own he looked malnourished, tired, and sickly. I'm glad he looks okay, i just hope he can hold his life together and fond happiness.
Bennett actually looks amazing lately, too. (Ben the Sage)
He definitely had a rough patch. But he looks noticeably healthier now
It's great to see him look healthier, but it's really not necessary to make such comparisons.
The low resolution of his webcam probably also helps. ;)
However, I wish Spoony all the best and hope, this positive trend will continue for him.
Greetings from Germany :)
No lie. I saw angry Joe again recently and the dude looks so sickly.
It can take a very long time to get your groove back only he knows when he is ready to return. He has my deepest respect
Paul is a legend and such, SUCH a nice man. I’m so happy you’re making such a wonderful continued success of CwC. ❤
It's really wholesome to watch you guys having fun watching the Spoony"s gameplay.
It brought me to tears hearing a happy Noah talking. Thanks for getting Spoony for us, Curtis.
Spoony introduced me to online video media. Specifically his Phantasmagoria 2 play through. I am forever grateful to both of you for countless hours of enjoyment, continuing to this day with Game Grumps.
It's so wonderful to hear from Noah again. It feels like he's in a better place right now. Thank you for having him on!
So. So glad that you reached out to Noah. I can’t wait to see his new review. Whatever it may be.
I'm so mad at myself for missing the livestream, but I'm so glad and happy to see Spoony opening up and being in a better place.
I'm sorry I missed this live. Thanks for making this happen!
Many thanks for providing this community service. Many, many thanks.
Man, this is just a great channel. Love seeing these deep dives with all these people and Paul is super patient and great. Good stuff.
Love Spoony, Love Paul.
There's so many indie FMV like games coming out it would only be a miracle to see them be in these newer ones
Spoony really was ahead of the pack back in the day. I'm sorry the process took its toll on him. He always was *my* favorite.
Thank you Paul for this. Helping to bring Spoony back and for being an awesome host!
That was great!! Would love to see Noah back again
Every time I've looked and checked on the internet community, as far as Spoony is concerned... I always see it full of toxic folks complaining about stupid things. And it always felt like I was screaming into the abyss when I was like "man, don't you guys realize that it's obvious he fell into depression? It's not something you should really be making fun of."
And like, I'm reading through these comments and it is really making me come close to crying.
Hmm. Thanks for the heads up.
This is a legit EVENT. Let’s gooooooo!
"Let's Riff on Ripper" is no doubt my favorite FMV series of Spoony's. I end up watching it once every few months.
This really feels like Spoony's old vlogs... So fun, I feel young again just by watching it
This was such a great watch. You two make for a good streaming duo I gotta say! Thank you both and I hope to see more of this legendary crossover in the future!
Man with his hair back, he looks like old Spoony
He looked like a trainwreck and it seems just from being able to smile and be "back" once has refreshed him
Im actually having hope of even the chance of him returning and I never even dreamed that was a possibility!
I'm glad Noah seems to be in a better place than he has been the last several years. Also I am glad that you embraced it. I'm sure there are some creatives who get rather upset when their work is mocked even if isn't really an attack on them as a person.
I had to miss the livestream, this is awesome, so happy for this! So great!
I think the running joke was cause one of them is right in front of his boss’ office, where he realistically should’ve been able to hear him.
Agree with all of this 100%!
How am I just NOW hearing about this channel? Great stuff!!
watching this is like therapy, particularly the playthrough parts.
